There are several grant opportunities available for CMF community foundation members through CMF’s Technology Grants: 

• Software Training: Support for software training of general ledger, donor or grants management systems
  • This option is limited to 50% of the total cost, with a maximum of $2,500 available per request. 
• Team-up Grants: This support could be used for group training or software development. 
  • Up to $5,000 in support is available for a group technology/software project that benefits at least three community foundations. 
• Transition Support: Support is available for key staff turnover or for a transition to a third-party accounting provider.
  • This support may be used to assist in the purchase, migration and or training costs related to these transitions. a maximum $5000 is available.
• Cybersecurity Audit: Support for community foundations with assets under $50 million is available to support the Digital Elevation Information Technology Security Assessment process.
  • Grant levels are as follows:
    • Assets of $1 - $10 million: $2,000
    • Assets over $10 - $25 million: $1,500
    • Assets over $25 - $50 million: $1,000

• Equipment Purchase: Support up to $2,500 for the purchase of equipment such as laptops, printers or other electronic devices (i.e. OWL cameras).
  • This option is limited to foundations with assets under $25 million and should be used for one-time purchases such as staff expansions or emergency replacements only.

The Small Town Grants Program, offered by the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation, aids communities with populations of 10,000 or less by providing grants up to $10,000. This initiative encourages projects that enhance the quality of life and foster community engagement. Eligible projects must be innovative, and a 25% cash match is required. Excluded from funding are for-profit entities and general operating expenses, ensuring that resources directly benefit community growth.

The NCVMA Public and Private Animal Shelter Fund provides a one-time grant of up to $2500 to support public and private animal shelters in North Carolina. This initiative aims to enhance the health and welfare of animals by assisting shelters in making necessary repairs and ensuring compliance with state inspection guidelines. Eligible applicants include animal shelters defined by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, focusing on upgrades that benefit animal welfare.

The SEMAC Rural Arts Grant aims to foster arts initiatives in rural communities of southeastern Minnesota with populations under 7,500. It supports diverse artistic projects including visual arts, music, and performance, encouraging local engagement and collaboration with community partners. Grants range from $3,000 to $6,000, and eligibility includes individual artists and nonprofit organizations within the SEMAC region. This initiative seeks to enhance cultural experiences and strengthen community ties through accessible arts programming.

The Winston-Salem Foundation, established in 1919, offers Animal Welfare Grants to support organizations dedicated to animal welfare in Forsyth County, North Carolina. With grants up to $25,000, the foundation aims to enhance the quality of life for animals and the community. As the first foundation of its kind in North Carolina, it has a rich history of collaboration to improve local welfare initiatives. This funding opportunity encourages impactful projects that benefit animal welfare.

The C. Homer and Charlotte L. Miel Endowment Grant Program, managed by the Central Montcalm Community Foundation, aims to enhance the educational experience for teachers and administrators of Central Montcalm Public Schools. By providing discretionary grants for approved projects, this initiative supports innovative educational endeavors that benefit the local community. With a commitment to sustainability, the foundation utilizes annual earnings from permanent endowments to fund these impactful educational opportunities.

The CFSI Health Careers Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, provides multiple $5,000 non-renewable scholarships for students pursuing education in health-related fields. It aims to support those aged 25 and older who have previously attended college but did not complete a degree. Eligible applicants must reside in Clark or Floyd County, Indiana, and can include high school seniors planning to pursue health-related certificates or degrees, fostering educational advancement in the community.

The Metropolitan Arts Council (MAC) offers the Arts Organization Quarterly Project Grant Program, prioritizing projects that enhance community impact through arts. Funding up to $3,000 with a 2:1 match encourages initiatives supporting artists, promoting cultural tourism, and ensuring access to the arts for all. This grant facilitates economic growth and aims to attract new audiences to artistic programming, fostering a vibrant cultural landscape in Greenville.

The CFF School Garden Grants, funded by the California Fertilizer Foundation, aim to enhance agricultural education for California's youth through hands-on gardening experiences. This initiative supports public and private schools in implementing or continuing garden programs, fostering sustainability and environmental awareness. Applicants are encouraged to describe their projects, including classroom implementation strategies and educational goals related to plant nutrition. This program not only beautifies school campuses but also enriches students' understanding of agriculture.

The McKnight Foundation's Arts & Culture Grant Program supports initiatives that empower artists and culture bearers in Minnesota. With a focus on enhancing the visibility of underrepresented groups and fostering community engagement, the program provides both unrestricted and restricted grants. Organizations can apply for funding to develop innovative projects that align with the foundation's commitment to justice and creativity. Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis, with a three-month review period.

The AAS Northeast Asia Council offers Korean Studies Grants to support research by North American scholars. The program aims to enhance the teaching of Korea in academic settings, encouraging integration into various disciplines. Grants cover travel expenses for research both within and outside North America, with awards ranging from $1,500 to $5,000. Eligibility includes a single application per grant period, and graduate students must submit advisor recommendations. This initiative fosters a deeper understanding of Korean studies.

The Benjamin P. Duke Memorial Endowment Fund Grants, offered by the Carlsbad Community Foundation, aim to enhance the well-being of animals, both domestic and wild, within South Eddy County, New Mexico. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations that serve this region, which encompasses Carlsbad and nearby areas. The foundation prioritizes projects solely focused on animal welfare, ensuring that funds are directed effectively to promote meaningful change.

The Budding Botanist Grant, offered by the Klorane Botanical Foundation, aims to educate students about environmental sustainability and biodiversity through school garden programs. In 2023, grants of $1000 will be awarded to twenty schools across the U.S., prioritizing those with a significant percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price meals. This initiative encourages young learners to explore and care for their local ecosystems.

The East and Inner Asia Council of the AAS offers small grants up to $2,000 for dissertation-level students and scholars focusing on China, Taiwan, or Inner Asia. Eligible projects include short research trips and conference organization. Preference is given to junior scholars and projects that enhance communication and curriculum development. The Rapoport Doctoral Dissertation Grants support PhD students conducting innovative research in American political behavior. Funded by the Rapoport Family Foundation, the grants offer up to $15,000 for survey research. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a doctoral program at an accredited U.S. university and have completed all preliminary requirements. The foundation emphasizes originality and transformative potential in research proposals, aiming to foster diverse approaches to understanding political behavior.

The Waddell Foundation was formed in 1978 for the sole benefit of supporting local charitable groups for the betterment of our neighbors on behalf of a family that loved this community above all else.

If we grant money to your organization by depositing our check you agree to the following terms:

All Grant funds will be spent in accordance with the Grant Application Request and consistent with the Organization's Mission.

Funds not spent in accordance with the Grant Application Request will be returned to the Foundation unless approval for other uses is requested and received from the Foundation.

You certify you are currently in good standing with the Internal Revenue Service and the Maryland Secretary of State.

The Peter G. Peterson Foundation Grant aims to address America's long-term fiscal challenges by promoting awareness and encouraging action. The Foundation supports innovative projects that align with its mission, particularly those by U.S.-based 501(c)(3) non-profits capable of national impact. Eligible applicants should have a minimum two-year existence and an annual budget of at least $1 million. The Foundation avoids funding organizations outside the U.S. or those involved in political activities.

The Comunidad Grants, offered by the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, aim to empower local grassroots nonprofits addressing pressing community issues. Since 1980, CFSA has connected donors with impactful organizations in Pima, Santa Cruz, and neighboring counties, fostering inclusion and dignity. By prioritizing rural organizations and those serving historically marginalized communities, the program ensures that funding is allocated where it is most needed, allowing nonprofits the autonomy to effectively pursue their missions.

The Albemarle Foundation Impact Grants support local 501(c)(3) organizations within 50 miles of Albemarle Corporation locations, offering up to $15,000 in funding for community programs. Open twice a year, these grants aim to enhance workforce development, promote economic vitality, and foster inclusive communities. Eligible applicants can receive funding only once per calendar year. The Foundation prioritizes organizations that do not discriminate based on race, gender, or other protected categories.

The BEST Capital Construction Grant, managed by the Colorado Department of Education, offers competitive funding for capital construction projects in public school facilities. This initiative supports school districts, charter schools, and other educational entities, enabling them to build new schools or renovate existing ones. Established in 2008, the grant aims to enhance educational environments for approximately 886,517 students across Colorado, fostering improved learning conditions and accessibility for all learners.

Award

Deborah Jin Award for Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Research in Atomic, Molecular, or Optical Physics

This award recognizes doctoral thesis research of outstanding quality and achievement in atomic, molecular, or optical physics and encourages effective written and oral presentation of research results. The annual award is presented to one individual and consists of a $2,500 stipend and a certificate.

Finalists are invited to present their research at the annual DAMOP Meeting. All finalists will be reimbursed up to $1,000 for travel expenses.

APS Honors recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of the global physics community. Guided by our core values, APS Honors encourages nominations that reflect the full range of talent, distinction, and experience in our field, and supports broad canvassing for professional achievement across diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and expertise.

Nominees for and holders of APS Honors (prizes, awards, and fellowship) and official leadership positions are expected to meet standards of professional conduct and integrity as described in the APS Ethics Standards. Violations of these standards may disqualify people from consideration or lead to revocation of honors or removal from office.

The CCWH/Berks Graduate Student Fellowship, offered by the Coordinating Council for Women in History, provides a $1000 award to graduate students in U.S. history departments who are completing a dissertation. This fellowship aims to support crucial research stages or the final year of writing. Applicants must be graduate students who have achieved A.B.D. status and may specialize in any history field, ensuring diverse representation in women's history.

The Micro-Grant Program, managed by the Colorado Statewide Internet Portal Authority, aims to enhance online access to government services for residents. Since its inception in 2010, it has awarded over $1.6 million to various government entities, facilitating the implementation of new technologies. Eligible applicants include state and local governments, special districts, and educational institutions. The program encourages past awardees to re-apply, ensuring continued innovation in e-Government services.

About the IAC

The IAC Mission

The mission of the Interagency Commission on School Construction is to achieve a safe, healthy, and educationally sufficient learning environment for every child attending a public school in Maryland. Our vision is a fiscally sustainable statewide portfolio of Pre-K-12 school facilities that will remain educationally sufficient for current and future generations of students and teachers.

Capital Improvement Program

The CIP is the State’s largest school construction program, averaging at least $280 million per year in recent years. CIP funding can be used for major new, renewal, or replacement projects as well as for addition projects or capital maintenance projects (systemic renovations). 

The CIP includes supplemental funding from the Significant Enrollment Growth and Relocatable Classroom (EGRC) Capital Grant Program.

The program is governed by Title 5, Subtitle 3 of the Education Article, Annotated Code of Maryland and regulations promulgated by the IAC in the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR).

The Wagner Family Fund supports libraries in Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, providing grants between $100 and $2,000 for educational programming and activities for youth and adults. Eligible applicants include tax-exempt organizations and governmental units, with a focus on community service. The fund prioritizes projects that build organizational capacity and address community needs, while generally excluding for-profit organizations and those with discriminatory practices.

The Rowland Fellowship Program at Harvard University invites outstanding early-career experimentalists in all scientific and engineering fields to establish an independent research program in Cambridge. With a focus on high-risk, innovative research, the fellowship offers substantial start-up funding, dedicated lab space, and mentoring. It lasts up to five years, allowing flexibility in start dates. Ideal candidates will bridge traditional disciplines and contribute to a vibrant intellectual community.

The Ocotillo Wind Education Fund, part of the Ocotillo Wind Community Benefits Program, is dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities in the Imperial Valley. With an initial commitment of $3 million, this fund prioritizes early childhood development, high school graduation, and student achievement. Grants are awarded through a competitive process, aiming to improve out-of-school programs and develop educational leaders. The fund invites innovative proposals that demonstrate measurable impact and community collaboration, ensuring sustainable educational improvements for future generations.
