The scholarship is to provide financial support to a student seeking to further his or her education beyond high school and who wishes to pursue a degree in the fields of science, technology, engineering, math, or health care at Blue Ridge Community College. Applicant must demonstrate financial need, be a resident of Henderson County and maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA. Non-traditional students are encouraged to apply.

The scholarship is renewable for up to two years only.

What are Artist Support Grants?

Artist Support Grants is a program funded by the N.C. Arts Council to provide the opportunity for regional consortia of local arts councils to award project grants to artists in their regions.

Artist fees are also allowable expenses under the new program. Grant amounts vary from region to region. Statewide, most grants are between $500 and $2,000.

Toby L. Mapes: Fire Protection Technology Scholarship

The NCAC: Folklife Apprenticeship Program offers 12-month apprenticeships in folk and traditional arts within North Carolina's Appalachian communities. Designed to preserve endangered folklife traditions, this program supports mentor-apprentice pairs, fostering the transmission of cultural practices. Eligible applicants must be 18 and reside within designated ARC counties. Funding includes $7,000 for mentors and $3,000 for apprentices, encouraging community engagement through public presentations of learned skills. Municipalities and tribal governments engaged in urban and community forestry in Henderson County, North Carolina can use this package to advance from Tree City USA to the Managing Community designation. Focused on forestry, the North Carolina Forest Service invites eligible communities to apply for Hurricane Helene Recovery funding, with US $2,200,000 available across CPG-funded RFAs.

Applicants do not have to be associated with Griswold in any way, and the funds will be paid directly to the institution where the caregiver will be receiving education.

The program encourages access to the arts through scholarships, community engagement, and innovative activities. Priority is given to organizations located in areas with populations under 20,000, ensuring that artistic opportunities are available to both adults and children. Applications are accepted for one year of funding, with potential for up to three consecutive years.

The Donald D. and Joan B. Joyce Scholarship, managed by the Community Foundation of Henderson County, supports students pursuing higher education. Established in 1982, this scholarship reflects the foundation's commitment to philanthropy and community development.
