LGBTQIA+ students attending a central Ohio college or university, including those from Licking County, Ohio, can apply for The Columbus Foundation’s Howard T. Short and Burdette Augsburger Scholarship Fund; awards More than US $500 for post-secondary education. Applicants must have at least a 2.75 GPA and may attend Wilmington College.

Nonprofit, neighborhood-based organizations improving football fields in Licking County, Ohio can seek capital funding for creating or rehabilitating local fields, enhancing safety and accessibility. Local Initiatives Support Corporation partners with the NFL Foundation Grassroots Program to offer up to US $250,000 plus technical assistance for community and school football field infrastructure projects.

The foundation prioritizes local needs, particularly critical and environmental issues, while encouraging employee involvement. The New Albany Community Foundation Grant supports tax-exempt organizations and public agencies within the Greater New Albany area, focusing on lifelong learning, arts, health, and sustainable environments. With a mission to expand STEM access, Project Lead The Way provides Licking County public and charter schools with funding to grow existing PLTW Computer Science programs. Eligible schools must be in specified Burns & McDonnell communities, serve at least 40% free/reduced-price lunch students, and can cover PLTW fees, equipment, devices, and teacher core training with grants of US $10,000.

Public and charter schools starting new PLTW computer science programs in Licking County, Ohio can receive US $20,000 over two years for participation fees, required devices, equipment, supplies, and PLTW Core Training costs. With a mission to expand STEM education access, Project Lead The Way provides support to eligible schools serving at least 40% free and reduced-price lunch students.

DOH 59808- Rural Health Transformation Program- Healthier Ohio Initiatives - Preventing and Addressing Chronic Disease- Track One

Project Background:

The Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) was authorized by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (Section 71403 of Public Law 119-21) and empowers state to strengthen rural communities by improving healthcare access, quality and outcomes by transforming the current system. Five key strategic goals of the program, as defined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) are:

• Sustainable access
• Workforce development
• Innovative Care
• Technology Innovation

Ohio’s plan aligns with federal priorities to improve the health of rural residents by building an innovative movement to bridge medicine and preventive behaviors into a holistic and collective impact approach to improve chronic disease outcomes. This Request for Proposals (RFP) is designed to strengthen preventive and clinical care for improved blood glucose and hypertension indicators across Ohio’s 73 non-urban counties (See Appendix B. Applicants could be but not limited to the following:

• State-level associations that support implementation in multiple clinics, health centers, and/or hospitals.
• Regional collaboratives or health system with multiple locations.
• Individual hospitals, health centers and clinics

Project Objective:

Based upon data analysis from Ohio’s State Health Assessment, including a supplemental deep dive into Appalachian health, 2025 Summary Assessment of Older Ohioans, the Ohio Chronic Disease Atlas 2025, and other publicly available data, Ohio seeks to reduce the prevalence and mortality rates associated with chronic disease. The collective aim of the strategies is:

to reduce hemoglobin A1C for patients diagnosed with prediabetes and diabetes by 10% and

to manage blood pressure at clinically appropriate levels for patients diagnosed with hypertension.

Public and charter middle schools with existing PLTW Gateway engineering programs can receive US $10,000 to expand STEM coursework, equipment, and teacher training in select U.S. counties, including parts of Ohio. Project Lead The Way and Burns & McDonnell support participation fees, required technology, supplies, and PLTW Core Training for the 2027–2028 school year.

Public and charter schools in Licking County, Ohio serving at least 40% free or reduced-price lunch students can apply for Project Lead The Way’s US $40,000 PLTW Engineering New Program grant to launch and expand PLTW Engineering courses. Funding covers participation fees, required technology, equipment, supplies, and PLTW Core Training costs over two years.

The Linguistics Program, supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), promotes fundamental research in human language. Mary Ferebee Howard Scholarship Fund for Undergraduate Study

Applicants will be judged on character, well-roundedness, and potential for future achievement.

Robert Franklin Black Scholarship Fund

The endowment shall be devoted to the support of two scholarships:

The Juki Automation Scholarship (JAS) 

The JAS scholarship will be made available to individuals between the ages of 16 and 30 who have received or are expecting to receive a high school degree or its equivalent and whose parent, stepparent, legal guardian, aunt, uncle, spouse or grandparent is an employee of Juke Automation Systems. The individual must have applied to and be planning to attend an accredited institution of higher learning within one year of the application deadline. Such institution may be a four-year college or university, a community college or a technical institute, for undergraduate or graduate education. The scholarship is renewable. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, school and community activities, work experience and educational goals. 

Community Scholarship

The Community Scholarship will be made available to individuals between the ages of 16 and 25 who have received or are expecting to receive a high school degree or its equivalent and whose parent or legal guardian is a resident of Durham, Orange and Wake Counties of North Carolina. The scholarship is renewable but may not be used for graduate education. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, school and community activities, work experience and educational goals.

This will be outlined in your award notification. The minimum scholarship award amount is $1,000.
