Minnesota Indian Affairs Council

2027 Dakota and Ojibwe Language Revitalization Grant

According to the language set forth in the 2025 Minnesota Session Laws, 94th Legislature, Chapter 36, Article 4, Sec. 9, funds were allocated for the Indian Affairs Council to provide grants to preserve Dakota and Ojibwe Indian language and to foster education programs and immersion programs in Dakota and Ojibwe language. There is $498,750 available for one-year competitive language grants.

The Dakota and Ojibwe Language Revitalization Grant program, which funds revitalization of Minnesota’s first languages, is underwritten by an appropriation from the state’s Legacy Fund Amendment, MN Legacy Fund Amendment Information. The eligible project areas are intentionally broad and somewhat flexible to allow creativity and innovation with intent that a diverse array of projects can be funded. Recognized educational institutions in Minnesota, and 510 (C)(3) non-profits located in the State of Minnesota and currently registered with the Secretary of State’s office are strongly encouraged to apply.

Rural Clinical Fellowship for Advanced Practice Providers and Other Clinicians

It is a federal initiative to help states support rural communities in improving health care access, quality, and outcomes by transforming the health care delivery ecosystem. The RHTP focuses on promoting innovation, strategic partnerships, infrastructure development, and workforce investment in rural communities. The federal program will grant up to $50 billion to states over five budget periods.

This RFP supports the development of rural clinical fellowship programs to prepare and train advanced practice providers, behavioral healthcare professionals, and oral healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive rural clinical care. Proposed programs should be advanced, rural-focused, community-based, supervised post-graduate clinical training and didactics that complement prior academic experiences and address gaps in clinical skills to prepare providers to manage the health needs of rural Minnesotans. 

Fellowships are expected to vary in duration, focus, and format based on the needs of different provider types. All programs must offer a structured learning environment providing mentored clinical education and didactics. Fellowships may be 12-18 months long. For example, a rural clinical Nurse Practitioner fellowship may be structured to meet two days per month for a 12-month fellowship. 

Proposed fellowships must:

• Train clinicians who are currently practicing or intend to practice in rural primary care, including oral health, behavioral health, maternal health, and other areas of primary care practice
• Strengthen clinical competencies
• Cultivate knowledge, skills, and cultural competence related to rural practice, solidifying providers’ rural professional identities 
• Include interprofessional learning and practice
• Provide mentorship
• Increase clinicians’ ability to handle ethical issues that arise when practicing in rural communities
• Strengthen rural workforce wellness and resiliency
• Increase clinicians’ overall readiness to deliver comprehensive care to rural Minnesotans

The Lead and Healthy Homes Program - Swab Team Services Grant, offered by the Minnesota Department of Health, provides funding for swab team services to mitigate lead hazards for the 2026-27 biennium. Grant Goals

Funding will support individual authors and organizations to create, produce, and distribute books for youth in Minnesota.

An applicant that receives funding under this grant opportunity must do at least one of the following:

• Amplify arts, culture, and heritage in Minnesota,
• Increase the depth and breadth of Minnesota who will connect with arts, culture, and heritage, and
• Provide opportunities for individuals in Minnesota to enjoy arts and culture for free or at reduced cost to allow access for economically disadvantaged individuals and families in Minnesota to attend Legacy programs.

Legacy funding may only be used for new work or new additions to existing work. Funding must supplement and not substitute existing funding sources or be used as reimbursement of expenses for existing projects.

Applicants must provide books for free or at a reduced cost for youth and families.

Vocational Rehabilitation Program Contract

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (“DEED”) Vocational Rehabilitation Services (“VRS”) requests applications from organizations and businesses to work as a vocational rehabilitation (“VR”) program community partner (“Community Partner”) to provide job-related services to individuals who are eligible for VRS. The State anticipates issuing multiple contracts for this work.

The NHLBI Career Transition Award (K22) supports postdoctoral fellows and research trainees in the NHLBI Division of Intramural Research, facilitating their transition to independent research roles at extramural institutions. Key deadlines for applications include October 12, 2024, and February 12, 2025, among others, providing ample opportunity for qualified investigators to advance their careers.

The Windgate Charitable Trust Grant supports contemporary craft and visual arts in the U.S. It offers funding for fellowships, residencies, educational outreach, and materials for craft programs. Provider Capacity Grants for Rural and Underserved Communities: Round Four

The Department of Human Services (DHS) Grants, Equity, Access, and Research (GEAR) Division (STATE) has the authority to enter into grant contracts that will increase the number and capacity of Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) providers in rural and or serving rural or underserved communities pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, section 256.01, subdivision 2(a)(6). This grant opportunity is funded through the Minnesota Legislature Laws of Chapter 61 - MN Laws Section 59. PROVIDER CAPACITY GRANTS FOR RURAL AND UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES. Grant applicant represents that it is duly qualified and willing to perform the services set forth in this grant application to the satisfaction of STATE.   

Funding Requirements

The primary goals of this funding are to reduce disparities, increase access, and advance equity in the availability and delivery of Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) across Minnesota. Successful capacity-building proposals must strengthen and enhance HCBS, with a particular focus on expanding existing HCBS programs’ access in rural and underserved communities. Applicants are required to clearly describe how the proposed funding will be used to build capacity, improve access, and enhance the delivery of HCBS. Proposals must also demonstrate compliance with all applicable HCBS licensing requirements and operational standards.

Grant funds will be awarded competitively to organizations that serve Medical Assistance (MA) recipients who are eligible for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS), that are enhancing/expanding existing services to serving MA recipients eligible for HCBS. Funds must be used by organizations that currently serve MA recipients eligible for HCBS. Only organizations currently licensed and enrolled in MHCP are eligible to apply for this grant funding.
