Jaws Youth Playbook (JYP) - formerly Jaws Youth Fund - is the foundation of Former Eagles QB and NFL Analyst, Ron Jaworski and his wife, Liz Jaworski. Our 501(c)(3) non-profit has been working hard to improve the overall health and wellness of at-risk youth in the Greater Philadelphia Region for 40+ years! We invest in our youth and their future through the building of playgrounds and ballfields, providing much needed sports equipment, supporting Summer Meals programs and healthy nutrition in underserved communities AND MORE!

What is the Grant?

A one-time grant between $500 – $25,000 for PROJECT-BASED resources (such as playgrounds, ball-fields, and community gardens) that enrich at-risk youths’ lives, giving them access to safe places to play and thrive!

The PNC Arts Alive initiative, launched by the PNC Foundation, is a transformative program aimed at enhancing access to the visual and performing arts across Greater Philadelphia, Delaware, and Southern New Jersey. With over $15 million granted since 2009, it supports diverse artistic endeavors, benefiting over 2 million community members. The program encourages innovative arts experiences through pop-up performances and mobile arts vans, ensuring that everyone, regardless of age or background, has the opportunity to engage with the arts.

The PPL Foundation's Empowering Communities Grants provide up to $50,000 to support initiatives that enhance education, workforce development, and community revitalization. Targeting nonprofits in the PPL Electric Utilities region, these grants focus on environmental stewardship, economic development, and promoting sustainable communities. Eligible organizations must demonstrate their impact in improving community quality of life, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. History of the Trust

The Hamilton Family Charitable Trust comprises two generations of the Hamilton family with a long history of philanthropy in the Philadelphia region. Since 1992, the family has been committed to improving educational opportunities for children and youth, a mission established by Dorrance (Dodo) Hamilton (1928–2017), mother and grandmother of the family Trustees. The family extended their philanthropic reach to Palm Beach County, FL and Aquidneck Island, RI in 2017. The family convenes four times annually to honor this legacy, supporting myriad programs that enhance the lives of the young people they serve.

• Data-driven literacy-based programs focused on developing robust reading and writing skills with a strong history of success.
  • These can be programs that:
    • Take place during school hours, after school, or during the summer.
    • Take place across school systems, but the funding can support only nonsectarian programming including within a religious institution.
  • Grades K-8 programs should devote at least 70 percent of their time directly to instruction and activities in reading and writing.
  • Grades 9-12 programs should provide innovative approaches to students in under-resourced areas for success in higher education, from the college admission process and acceptance through to completion.
  • Youth workforce development programs that focus on quality career exploration and preparation initiatives.
  • Recreational programs with a strong academic component.

Things To Consider

• First-time grants: generally designated for program support. The Trust rarely funds new staff positions for initial grants.
• Continuing partners: generally made for either programmatic or operational support.
• Multi-year grants: requests are typically reserved for grantees with five (5) years or more of consecutive funding from the Trust. Multi-year grants require approval prior to application submission. Approval is generally communicated in response to the LOI.

The National Estuary Program Watersheds Grant Program, administered by Restore America’s Estuaries and supported by the EPA, funds competitive projects addressing critical threats to estuaries. As part of this commitment, Philadelphia Foundation is launching a new grant program to build new partnerships with workforce development providers with strong outcomes to help build a more connected workforce and opportunity ecosystem across the region.

As we implement this new strategy, we remain committed to our role as a trusted partner to the nonprofit community. While proactively contributing to increasing economic mobility, Philadelphia Foundation remains committed and will continue to provide flexible support for organizations meeting the needs of our region's most vulnerable residents and remain responsive to and partner on emergent crises and opportunities to leverage effective community philanthropy.

PF's initial focus is on supporting young adults' access to high-demand, good-paying jobs that do not require a college degree through investments in gold-standard workforce development training providers. These programs have documented returns on investment and strong employer partnerships in priority sectors, such as skilled trades, technology, and non-clinical life sciences.

The purpose of this RFI is to gather information on promising models, gaps, and trends in young adult workforce development providers in Greater Philadelphia. The information from the RFI will be used to inform future Philadelphia Foundation grantmaking.

A subset of the organizations that respond to this RFI will be invited to submit an application for funding.

Workforce development training and bridge providers serving young adults across Greater Philadelphia. Our interst is not limited to a specific industry, but there is a particular interest in sectors like skilled and industrial trades, non-clinical life sciences, and tech.

The Montgomery County Foundation offers General Distribution Grants aimed at nonprofit, 501(c)3 tax-exempt organizations in Montgomery County, PA, with budgets under $3 million. These grants, typically due in September, support operational funds for organizations. Applicants must take a year off after receiving grants for three consecutive years. The foundation prioritizes community needs and responsible fund stewardship to enhance the quality of life in the region.
