The mission of the Jean Griswold Foundation is to support Caregivers by providing educational scholarships* to enable them to further their training, enhance their careers, and better assist the clients they serve.

By offering educational scholarships*, our Foundation will not only make a positive impact on the Caregivers themselves, but also the clients they assist and the home healthcare agencies where they are employed, as well as help advance the overarching home-care industry.

Scholarships will be paid directly to the federally accredited educational institutions of the winning Scholars’ choosing.

Empowering Caregivers Through Education

The Jean Griswold Foundation Scholarship Program awards scholarships to deserving Caregivers who wish to further their education in a care-related field. Applicants do not have to be associated with Griswold in any way, and the funds will be paid directly to the institution where the caregiver will be receiving education.

The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.

The Putting Patients First Grant Program, supported by Canon Medical and managed by AHRA, aims to enhance patient care and safety in medical imaging. In 2024, five grants of up to $10,000 each will be awarded to hospitals developing training or programs in categories such as Diagnostic Imaging and Radiation Safety. Recipients are also required to publish their findings in an AHRA publication, promoting shared best practices across institutions.

The OECD Conference Sponsorship aims to enhance scientific knowledge and provide essential information to influence policy decisions on sustainable resource use in food, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. It supports international events that showcase innovative research and developments, inviting applications from scientists in these fields. The African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund Grants support the preservation of historic sites that reflect African American cultural heritage. Grants ranging from $50,000 to $150,000 assist projects in areas like Capital Projects, Organizational Capacity Building, Project Planning, and Programming. Eligible applicants include public agencies, accredited colleges, and nonprofits. The program emphasizes themes such as activism, innovation, and historically significant sites, aiming to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of African American history.

The Edward E. Ford Foundation offers Traditional Grants to independent schools in the U.S. for projects that enhance educational opportunities. With over $118 million granted since its inception, the Foundation emphasizes the importance of matching funds, requiring a dollar-for-dollar commitment from schools. Eligible institutions must serve grades 9-12, be NAIS members, and have a qualified Head of School. Applications are considered during the June and November Agendas, supporting diverse educational initiatives.

The CFBV Annual Community Grants, offered by the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley, support charitable nonprofit organizations across seven regions. Applications are accepted year-round, with a review by the Grants Committee in October. Awards are announced during the Foundation’s Annual Philanthropy/Day of Giving Celebration in November/December. Eligible organizations must have I.R.S. 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, while funding cannot be used for administrative expenses or ongoing program costs.

Leo Layette Livingston

Leo L. Livingston was a devoted civic leader and local business man in the Taylor community, serving on the Johns Community Hospital until his retirement in February 1988. He served on the Johns Community Hospital board of directors for 21 years, including ten years in the capacity of board president. He is credited with having had a major influence in getting the current hospital built, both in fundraising and directing construction. Born in Winters, Texas on February 24, 1913, he and his wife first came to Taylor in 1940 with Texas Power and Light Company. He later served as an accountant at Taylor Refining Company and in 1949, he began his long-standing association with Southwestern Life Insurance Company. In 1957, he earned the designation as Charter Life Underwriter. From the onset, Leo Livingston immersed himself in community service having served as chairman of the Red Cross Drive, the Community Chest Drive, and was president during the organization's change to the United Fund in 1959. He served as president of the Taylor Chamber of Commerce in 1955 and was director of the Industrial Development and Greeters Committees of the Chamber. Mr. Livingston was also a past member, director and president of the Taylor Kiwanis Club and served as president of the Taylor Country Club. An active member of First United Methodist Church, Mr. Livingston served his church in numerous capacities including Sunday school superintendent, chairman of the church board, and various committees. In 1975 he was honored as Taylor's Outstanding Citizen by the Taylor Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Livingston served on the Taylor ISD Board of Education for five years and as its chairman, was involved with bond elections and the construction of the Taylor high school facility.

Leo L. Livingston Fund Benefiting Taylor, Texas Nonprofit Organizations

The Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley, headquartered in Bryan – Texas, administers a charitable endowment fund that was established in memory of Leo L. Livingston by Doris Livingston to benefit nonprofit organizations in the Taylor, Texas community. A local Grants Review Committee comprised of Taylor residents and business leaders is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations for grants up to $10,000 for programs that support the Livingston's goals of continually improving the quality of life in Taylor, Texas.

The Grants Review Committee will consider grants to:

• Support effective, established programs;
• Help launch innovative, new programs; or
• Fund unique capital needs that will increase an organization's capacity.

Eligible organizations must possess 501(c)(3) status or be sponsored by such an organization. This grant program promotes collaboration and significant asset growth while addressing crucial community needs in Brazoria County.

The Women Building Community Grants, offered by the Community Foundation of Brazoria County, Texas, aim to address critical issues affecting women and children in Brazoria County. With a total funding of $17,000 available, the grants support projects focused on life-skills education, self-sufficiency, and collaboration. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits based in the county. This funding cycle prioritizes impactful initiatives that foster community development and empowerment.
