This award is presented to a Whitley County student intent upon becoming a Registered Nurse.

Houston Rockets Scholarship

Benefiting graduating seniors from select high schools attending college in the Greater Houston area. Applications for this scholarship will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

This is a renewable scholarship, meaning recipients can renew the award and claim multiple years of funding if they meet the GPA and enrollment requirements and complete the renewal application for each academic year they plan to be enrolled.

Renewal Durations - The scholarship is renewable for the following durations:

• 2-Year Degree – Renewable for 1 year after original award (up to 2 years of funding total)
• 4-Year Degree – Renewable for 3 years after original award (up to 4 years of funding total)

Previous Scholarship Recipients – Renewable for the years remaining until graduation (2 years for Class of 2024 and 3 years for Class of 2025)

Award Amounts - Multiple award recipients expected for the upcoming year. 

Award amounts vary by college/degree type:

• $5,000 for 2-Year Colleges/Degrees (up to $10,000 total across two years)
• $10,000 for 4-Year Colleges/Degrees (up to $40,000 total across four years)

What can the scholarship be used for?

The scholarship will be mailed directly to the student's college to be used towards tuition, required academic fees, and/or book expenses. 

Scholarship funding cannot be distributed directly to the student. Funding cannot be used for room and board, rent, meal plans, parking passes, or other similar living expenses.

The Dayton Daily News Community Solutions Scholarship, established in 2005 in honor of Mike Peters, aims to support graduating seniors from Miami Valley high schools. This $1000 scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate academic success and a commitment to solving community issues. Applicants must have been accepted into an accredited college or university and provide insights into their community contributions and future plans for impact. This initiative fosters civic engagement and supports future leaders.

Philip & Leta Shriver Scholarship

Philip Shriver grew up in rural South Whitley and graduated from South Whitley High School. Leta Bernice Keel graduated from South Whitley High School in 1940. The two married on April 4, 1943. They made their home on a farm in rural South Whitley.

Leta was employed by Virgil Heinselman’s Locker and G & G Grocery. She was a member of the South Whitley United Methodist Church until she died on June 26, 2005.

A career-long farmer, Phil had a large chicken and egg operation for years, maintaining over 5000 chickens. An advocate for the industry, he was instrumental in stopping an egg carton tax proposed by the State of Ohio. He also worked construction for Morris Darley of South Whitley for many years. Phil was an accomplished welder and metal fabricator, making several crosses that adorn the steeples of area churches.

This scholarship was created as a gift from the estate of Philip Shriver after his death in 2021. It is open to any Whitley County graduating senior who plans to further their education in the field of agriculture or church-related work.

Whitley County 4-H Helping Hands Scholarship

This scholarship will go to a Whitley County senior involved with 4-H. Please contact the 4-H Extension Office for more information. The recipient will be selected during the Whitley County 4-H fair.

The Dayton Catholic Women's Club Scholarship, established in 2010, supports female high school graduates of the Roman Catholic faith in their pursuit of higher education. With a commitment to promoting unity and cooperation among Catholic women since 1923, this scholarship awards $1,000 to eligible applicants who demonstrate financial need and are members of a Dayton area Roman Catholic Church. This initiative reflects the organization's dedication to educational advancement and community support.

The Jan Harp Domene Diversity and Inclusion Awards, established by the National PTA, recognize excellence in diversity, equity, and inclusion among PTAs. These awards honor outstanding efforts to foster inclusivity and end discrimination, celebrating PTAs that actively promote these values. Named for a legendary Baltimore Ravens miracle play, this scholarship recognizes one student’s effort in any area (personal, academic, music, sports, art, etc.) that has led to a brighter future.

The Charles and Marjorie Quickle Scholarship, administered by the Crown Point Community Foundation, supports South Lake County residents pursuing degrees in divinity, theology, or religious ministry. This scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors, college students, and adult learners, with the ability to reapply annually.
