Department of Law & Public Safety

Under the direction of the Attorney General, the Office of the Attorney General and Department of Law & Public Safety are dedicated to making New Jersey safe for all its residents and visitors. Its diverse and complex responsibilities focus on protecting the lives and property of New Jersey citizens. In addition to providing statewide law enforcement and emergency response services, this Department and its approximately 7,700 employees are responsible for protecting citizens’ civil and consumer rights, promoting highway traffic safety, maintaining public confidence in the alcoholic beverage, gaming and racing industries and providing legal services and counsel to other state agencies.

New Jersey Law Enforcement Wellness and Resiliency Grant

The New Jersey Law Enforcement Wellness and Resiliency Grant Program (NJLEWRG) will provide funding to New Jersey law enforcement agencies to implement wellness and resiliency initiatives designed to support the physical, mental, emotional, and financial health of officers and employees. Programs will promote officer wellness and resiliency by providing funding for initiatives, including but not limited to counseling services, wellness training and programs, physical fitness enhancements, peer support, and the development of spaces or tools that improve officer health and well-being.

Managed by the New Jersey Center for Hispanic Policy, Research, and Development, these programs focus on strengthening resilience, providing essential support, and connecting families with community resources. The Freedom School Planning Grants, offered by the New Jersey Office of Faith Based Initiatives, aim to support organizations launching NJ Freedom Schools. The Frank S. Flowers Charitable Trust, established in 1979, aims to enhance the quality of life in Gloucester County, New Jersey. It provides grants to educational, health-related, youth, and religious organizations that meet specific criteria. With an average grant size of $10,000 and around 20 grants awarded each year, the Trust prioritizes support for local public high schools, non-profit hospitals, and organizations focused on the welfare of mentally disabled children.

The Provident Bank Foundation's Empowerment Grant focuses on uplifting marginalized communities by providing flexible funding for initiatives that promote economic self-sufficiency. With grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 over two years, the program supports organizations in education, human services, and workforce development. Eligible applicants must demonstrate meaningful community impact and align with the Foundation's funding priorities, which include promoting quality education, social safety nets, and career development opportunities.

The True Inspiration Awards, established by Chick-fil-A in 2015, recognizes nonprofit organizations that significantly impact their communities. In 2025, the program will distribute $6 million in grants, ranging from $30,000 to $350,000, to sixteen selected organizations. Categories include Caring for People, Caring through Food, Community, and Caring for our Planet, with a focus on educational initiatives, food security, housing services, and environmental stewardship, honoring the legacy of founder S. Community Impact Grants

Community Impact Grants provide support to nonprofits working to address the needs of under-resourced individuals, families, and communities in our regional footprint.

Our Community Impact Grant opportunity is focused serving children, families, and communities most impacted by poverty. In 2026, there will be one cycle to apply. Eligible nonprofits in our region may apply for unrestricted funding. If you have received funding through the Summer Initiatives grant, you still may apply for Community Impact Grants. If you have received a 2025 multi-year award, you will not be eligible to apply in 2026.

Funding considerations will prioritize requests that address under-resourced populations in our region such as children and adolescents, low-income seniors, returning citizens, immigrants, victims of domestic abuse, and others.

The CFNJ: RSI Foundation Grant aims to support community-driven initiatives that address pressing needs in New Jersey. With a focus on equity and diversity, the foundation seeks proposals that demonstrate a measurable impact, are achievable, and align with their values of inclusivity. Grant amounts typically range from $2,500 to $25,000, prioritizing projects that serve historically underserved populations and improve overall community well-being.

The Circuit Trails initiative aims to enhance the Greater Philadelphia area by adding 75 miles to the existing network by 2035. This expansion will promote outdoor access, improve health and well-being, and foster economic development through non-motorized transportation. With over 411 miles currently in place, the goal is to develop a comprehensive 850-mile network across communities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey by 2040, supported by a diverse coalition of organizations.

The Gupta Family Foundation Grant aims to empower disadvantaged individuals by providing financial support to organizations that foster self-reliance. Headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, the foundation offers grants ranging from $5,000 to over $250,000, prioritizing smaller organizations with a strong commitment to their missions. Eligibility typically includes US-based IRS 501(c)(3) entities, with operations extending to countries like India and Kenya. The foundation emphasizes mission alignment and effective resource allocation to ensure maximum impact.

Truist Foundation

The Truist Foundation is committed to Truist Financial Corporation's (NYSE: TFC) purpose to inspire and build better lives and communities. Established in 2020, the foundation makes strategic investments in nonprofit organizations to help ensure the communities it serves have more opportunities for a better quality of life. The Truist Foundation's grants and activities focus on building career pathways to economic mobility and strengthening small businesses.

This year’s Inspire Awards seeks nonprofits supporting the career navigation and workforce development needs of workers across the United States. The challenge seeks applications that help individuals gain the skills, guidance, and support needed to access quality jobs, advance in their careers, and build long-term stability in an evolving world of work.

Nonprofit organizations have long been critical advocates and service providers for workers in the United States. Nonprofits provide workers necessary upskilling opportunities, AI literacy training, career navigation support, and wraparound services in conjunction with career pathways programming. All necessary for the modern workforce. Meeting the moment, Truist Foundation and MIT Solve want to hear the ways in which nonprofits headquartered in the Truist operating footprint are providing innovative career pathway programming in the age of AI. Although solutions don’t need to focus on generative AI specifically, teams should demonstrate how their career pathways programming align with the following dimensions:

• Training and Upskilling Programs – Providing holistic, accessible programming that equips workers with essential skills, industry-validated credentials, and technical literacy for the modern workplace.
• AI Readiness and Literacy – Offering high-quality training that helps workers understand generative AI and agentic technologies as augmented intelligence tools, helping to build practical skills like effective prompting, domain expertise application, and ethical use.
• Additional Wraparound Services and Basic Needs Support – Supporting unemployed and underemployed workers on their journey to economic mobility through comprehensive, integrated resources including childcare, transportation support, mentorship, mental health services, benefits navigation, and more.
• Career Navigation in the AI Economy – Enabling workers to navigate career choices with clarity and confidence by providing accessible information about how AI is reshaping job roles and industries, facilitating informed decisions about high-quality career trajectories that align with individual circumstances, and connecting workers to industry-validated credentials or trainings.
