Community Forestry Assistance Grant Application

Program Overview

The State of New Mexico, Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD), Forestry Division (Forestry Division) in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service (Forest Service) is seeking applications (Applications) (Attachment 1) for urban and community forestry projects year-round.

The Forestry Division may award multiple contracts from this Request for Applications (RFA).

Match is not required but it is encouraged to demonstrate project commitment. Any matching funds provided must be non-federal and may include allowable and allocable in-kind contributions (i.e., personnel salary, fringe benefits, and indirect costs; services, materials, supplies, and equipment donations; and volunteer assistance), and private and public (non-federal) monetary contributions.

The purpose of the Community Forestry Assistance Grant is to assist communities in developing and maintaining sustainable stewardship of urban and community forestry resources in New Mexico. Projects that support expanding equitable tree canopy cover and access to nature deprived disadvantaged communities experiencing low tree canopy and environmental justice issues will receive higher priority.

The focus of the grants are on projects that occur within or deliver 100 percent of the projects benefits to communities identified as disadvantaged by the federal government. Applicants must use federal online vulnerability and environmental justice equity data tools to support a disadvantaged community designation (e.g., White House Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST), the EPA Environmental Justice and Screening Mapping Tool, and EPA EnviroAtlas Interactive Map). Projects that occur outside of areas identified as disadvantaged may still be funded but it may be at a lower amount.

The Warren Community Action Fund Grants support initiatives enhancing community quality of life, focusing on health, education, basic human needs, youth, agricultural training, historic preservation, scientific programs, arts, recreation, and environmental concerns. Grants are available for capital, program, and operational support, favoring projects with community consensus and financial backing from other sources. Rural Champions Grant

Grant Details

The Rural Champions program will provide support needed to fill the gap in driving successes throughout Kansas when there is a lack of capital or the capacity of a dedicated individual to see a project through to completion.

Rural champions communities and organizations will be selected for this program and will receive a stipend to focus strategically on a critical need for their community for 1 year. Selected Champions will develop an implementation strategy for the identified community need in the first three months and then have until December 2028 to fully implement this strategy. In this application you will describe the needs in your community and how having a Champion will benefit your community.

The Alabama RC&D Grants support community projects aimed at enhancing local resources and quality of life. They offer funding for both Education Fund Projects, which must include an educational component, and General Fund Projects, which do not. Eligible applicants include 501c3 non-profit organizations and government entities. With nine councils across Alabama, projects involving multiple councils may apply for statewide grants to maximize impact.

Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP)

Tax credit program to encourage businesses to invest in projects which improve distressed areas.

Statement of Purpose

The goals of NAP are to provide resources to assist low-income and distressed neighborhoods and communities, encourage positive health outcomes, and address the safety and welfare of their residents. As a result, NAP encourages communities to pursue and achieve fiscal well-being and self-sufficiency.

These Programs are intended to benefit low-income populations. Applicant’s proposed projects must not result in the displacement or forced relocation of low-income individuals or households.

The goals of the Programs are to promote community participation and collaborations among the residents, nonprofits and businesses while producing outcomes by assisting a distressed area or the low-income population in a neighborhood. Eligible neighborhood nonprofits (“Applicants”) apply for tax credits based on pending contributions from for-profit companies (“Contributors”).

Project Priorities

In FY2026-27, the Department will prioritize applications that align with the vision and goals of newly developed Commonwealth’s Housing Action Plan & Economic Development Strategy in addition to childcare. These priorities include:

The Community Foundation of Elkhart County offers Community Investment Grants under $25,000 with no application deadlines, providing weekly reviews. Eligible applicants include nonprofits and public charities serving Elkhart County residents, along with certain governmental and educational institutions. This funding aims to enhance quality of life and foster generosity within the community.

The Community Services Grant Program, offered by the City of Hillsboro, Oregon, supports local nonprofit agencies aimed at enhancing the mental and physical well-being of community members. Summer Youth Enrichment Grant

NewYork-Presbyterian is dedicated to partnering with community-based organizations (CBOs) that provide impactful summer programs for youth and adolescents. Through the Summer Youth Enrichment Grant (SYEG), we invest in young people when opportunities for enrichment, a sense of belonging, and access to safe spaces are essential for their growth and well-being.

Grant Overview

SYEG provides grants of up to $50,000 to support summer initiatives that provide engaging, developmentally appropriate, and relevant programming to children and adolescents. The grant supports a wide range of program types, including but not limited to:

• Career and Job Readiness

Special consideration will be given to organizations whose programs primarily serve youth in the following communities: Corona, Crown Heights, Lower East Side, Mount Vernon, Peekskill, Washington Heights & Inwood, White Plains, University Heights.

This grant supports both new and existing programs that will take place during the summer months.

The Nationwide Fishing Trap Removal, Assessment, and Prevention (TRAP) Program aims to eliminate derelict fishing traps nationwide. Focused on collaboration, it emphasizes standardized data collection, quantifying impacts, and comprehensive data sharing. With an annual budget of up to $1,475,000, the program supports 6 to 15 projects, providing grants ranging from $50,000 to $200,000 for 18-month initiatives. This effort significantly enhances marine resource conservation by reducing bycatch mortality and removing abandoned traps.

The New York Climate Resilience Grant Program, funded by The Nature Conservancy, aims to enhance conservation and climate adaptation efforts led by local organizations. With a total funding of $500,000 available, grants of up to $50,000 will support land protection initiatives that mitigate flooding and erosion. The program encourages projects that foster community engagement and prioritize equitable distribution of benefits, particularly for marginalized groups, ensuring resilience in the face of climate change.
