Purpose
The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is accepting applications for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (Byrne/JAG) Program for Juvenile Detention Centers. This grant program supports local and regional juvenile detention centers through funding training, equipment, and supplies. Byrne/JAG funds allow states and units of local government, including tribes, to support a broad range of crime control and prevention activities based on state and local needs and conditions. As the state administrative agency, DCJS is responsible for managing the coordination and distribution of Byrne/JAG funds in a manner that supports and improves the criminal justice system in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
