Based on extensive community feedback and analysis of data in the 2025 CHNA, as well as input from the Collin Leadership Council, the following non-medical drivers of health (NMODH) have been identified as top concerns in Collin County: Healthcare Access, Navigation & Literacy and Connectedness. Therefore, the Collin Leadership Council will seek innovative proposals to reduce barriers related to NMDOH in Healthcare Access, Literacy & Navigation, as well as Connectedness, through enhanced access to nutrition, chronic disease management, primary care, and social connectedness in 4 high need zip codes: East McKinney (75069), Farmersville (75442), Princeton (75407), and Blue Ridge (75424).

Tarrant Region

Grants that advance to the funding stage must demonstrate innovative solutions that remove barriers, expand access to chronic disease services, and achieve measurable improvements in health outcomes.

Grantmaking Approach, Goals, and Objectives

Texas Health Community Impact funding is not intended to replace lost funding. Texas Health does recognize that non-profits’ budgets have been affected by recent changes and acknowledge the great work that is being done by Tarrant non-profits and community-based organizations to serve communities in need; however, we are focused on innovative, disruptive programs that are not already in place.

In Tarrant County, the strategic priority is to maximize access to chronic disease services for adults 18 and older by addressing one or more of the following non-medical drivers of health in ZIP code clusters 76010 & 76011, 76104 & 76105, and/or 76119:

• Healthcare access, navigation & literacy
• Transportation
• Connectedness
• Food insecurity

The Max and Victoria Dreyfus Foundation offers grants to support diverse initiatives, including museums, educational programs, and environmental activities. Aiming to make a significant impact with modest funding, the Foundation targets IRS-qualified non-profits in the U.S. Grants typically range from $1,000 to $20,000, fostering community development and enhancement. Organizations focused on youth, seniors, and individuals with disabilities are particularly encouraged to apply, as the Foundation seeks to empower those in need.

The Robinson Foundation Grant, established in 2016, aims to alleviate hardships faced by individuals and communities, demonstrating God's love through charitable contributions. As a family-operated foundation, it focuses on creating meaningful, long-term impacts in various areas including animal welfare, education, and disaster relief. Organizations eligible for funding must be 501(c)(3) public charities. The foundation prioritizes fiscally responsible projects with the potential for tangible results, while not supporting capital projects.

Speedway Children's Charities provides critical support to children in need, focusing on those in Collin, Dallas, Denton, and Tarrant counties. Since its inception in 1982, SCC has distributed over $72 million in grants, with $4 million allocated in 2024 alone. The organization prioritizes assistance for the homeless, orphans, and victims of sex trafficking, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive despite their circumstances. Through various fundraising events, SCC empowers local nonprofits dedicated to improving children's lives.

The AAF Discretionary Grant, offered by the Amarillo Area Foundation, aims to enrich lives by supporting nonprofit organizations since 1957. Grants are awarded 3-4 times a year, focusing on strategic areas such as education, healthcare, and economic opportunity. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations serving the northernmost 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle. The Foundation encourages potential applicants to consult with their Grants Program Officer before submitting proposals.

The M.B. & Edna Zale Foundation Grant aims to support individuals and families in building meaningful lives, focusing on education, social services, and community welfare. The foundation prioritizes innovative programs that promote self-sufficiency and measurable impacts within communities, particularly in Dallas, Palm Beach, and New York. It emphasizes collaboration and seeks proposals for specific projects rather than ongoing operational support, ensuring a focus on transformative initiatives.

The Hoblitzelle Foundation Grant, established in 1942, supports nonprofit organizations in Texas, particularly in the Dallas area, with funding for capital projects such as construction and technology. The foundation prioritizes initiatives in arts, education, medical, and social services, investing over $252 million in various sectors. Eligible applicants must have a 501(c)(3) classification, and grants are not awarded for religious purposes or to individuals. This grant is a valuable resource for enhancing community impact.

The 2025-2026 Texas Reading Initiative: Birth to Kinder Continuation, Year 5 aims to enhance kindergarten readiness by providing high-quality texts, resources, and support for families of young learners. Grantees must conduct needs assessments to target families in districts with low literacy scores, ensuring that disadvantaged children receive necessary support.
