Our mission is to bring people and resources together to strengthen the quality of life, both now and in the future, for the residents of Randolph County.

The Community Foundation’s work falls into three major categories: grant-making, donor service, and community convening. Our most visible activities are the grants and scholarships we award each year. Most of these awards come from income earned from permanently endowed funds. Scholarships and other grants come from funds that donors have established for specific purposes.

U & C Scholarship

Given to students who have been accepted into a 2 or 4 year public or private institution of higher learning and are family members of vendors, business associates or children of company employees of B & F Plastics.

Winchester Athena Club Students Scholarship

The Athena Club was founded in 1982 as an organization where women in local businesses and professions could meet to network with one another and to learn more about the greater Winchester community. The weekly luncheon meetings were open to all working and retired women. Named for the Greek goddess of knowledge and wisdom, the club’s purpose was to gain knowledge from the weekly speakers, to promote the role of women as leaders in our community, and to contribute to the knowledge of others by giving of themselves so that others might learn. The club has provided leadership to a variety of community organizations and has given financial support to young people who wished to take advantage of educational opportunities. The Athena Club scholarship is awarded each year to a senior from one of the five Randolph County high schools. The club disbanded in 2022, but the scholarship continues to support the club’s focus on education and leadership.

UNCF was founded in 1944 to help more African American students attend and graduate from college.

Since then, we've helped to more than double the number of minorities attending college.

2026-2027 The RADM (ret.) Jeffrey A. & Linda J. Cook Scholarship

The RADM (ret.) Jeffrey A. & Linda J. Cook Scholarship is a need-based, recurring scholarship for active-duty, retired U.S. military veterans, or their dependents who are enrolled full time and pursuing undergraduate STEM degrees at an accredited HBCU. Recipients will receive a renewable award of up to $4,250 to support them in obtaining their undergraduate degree.

This scholarship is in honor of CPO Arthur A. Cook and Capt. Delbert E. Colwell, the fathers of the Grantors who served honorably during WWII.

The Rep. Steve Bratcher 25th District Scholarship, offered by the Central Kentucky Community Foundation, aims to support students from Hardin County with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. The Patricia Goodman Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Central Kentucky Community Foundation, supports graduating high school seniors in the CKCF service area, prioritizing Hardin County residents. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 and intend to pursue a career in nursing or a related medical field. The Nugent McGrew Scholarship, provided by the Central Kentucky Community Foundation, aims to support graduating seniors from Grayson or Hardin County who demonstrate financial need and a commitment to their education. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and plan to attend a two or four-year academic or technical school. This scholarship serves as a vital resource to help students achieve their educational goals and contribute positively to their communities.

The Mildred Rowlett Scholarship, offered by the Central Kentucky Community Foundation, supports Hart County graduating seniors in their pursuit of higher education. To qualify, applicants must rank in the top 15% of their class and aim for a degree in mathematics or a related field. This scholarship exemplifies the foundation's commitment to enhancing community life through educational opportunities.

The Mike and Sharon Bell Scholarship, offered by the Central Kentucky Community Foundation, supports students from Hardin County Water District No. 2 or active members of Glendale Christian Church. Applicants should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and plan to attend a two- or four-year academic or technical school. This scholarship aims to empower local students to pursue their educational goals and enhance their community involvement.

The Michael R. Priddy Music Scholarship, offered by the Central Kentucky Community Foundation, aims to support graduating high school seniors from Hardin County Schools, specifically Elizabethtown and LaRue County High Schools. Foundation Grants

Community Outreach Grant

The Community Outreach Grants Program is designed to support projects and initiatives that provide legal services in local communities. Through targeted funding, the program empowers FBA chapters, sections, divisions, national standing committees (FBA entity) and other organizations to develop and support projects that make a lasting impact on their communities.

Applicants may only receive one (1) Foundation grant per year.

Applicants may only receive one (1) Foundation grant per year.

The Pompe Disease Fund, supported by the Patient Advocate Foundation, offers vital financial assistance to individuals diagnosed with Pompe disease. This fund covers out-of-pocket healthcare costs including medication copays and health insurance premiums. Eligible patients must have a confirmed diagnosis and be receiving treatment or planning to start within 60 days. With over 3.8 million patients helped since its inception, the fund aims to alleviate financial burdens and enhance access to necessary treatments.

Elaine R. “Boots” Fisher Award

Elaine R. “Boots” Fisher was the wife of former National and Northern District of Ohio Chapter President Stanley M. Fisher. Sadly, in 1989 “Boots” Fisher succumbed to illness. The Elaine R. “Boots” Fisher Award is presented as a memorial to the outstanding and unselfish contributions made by “Boots” Fisher to improve the quality of life and opportunities of all persons. She gave of herself willingly to help others to overcome adversity.

The award is intended to stimulate, encourage and recognize exemplary community, public and charitable service by members of the Federal Bar Association. Nominations should demonstrate:

• Continuous general or specific contributions to community, charitable or public service;
• Specific accomplishments for which the nominee is primarily responsible which serve to enhance, promote and encourage community, charitable and/or public service; and
• Specific personal achievements of the nominee which serve to provide inspiration and hope to others. The charitable contribution made in the name of the recipient reflects the essence of the person in whose honor this award is established.

A cash contribution in the amount of $1,000 will be made in the recipient’s name to a charity selected by the recipient.
