Search Through Cycling Grants in Maryland

The Creag Foundation, established in 2009 in Woodinville, Washington, provides funding to innovative 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations addressing social issues. Focused on smaller organizations, the foundation seeks to support those with unique approaches to improve the human condition. Eligible applicants must have held 501(c)(3) status for at least one year and present a new or previously unaddressed solution to societal challenges. Applications are by invitation only, encouraging creativity and passion in charitable work.

The Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation provides grants to early-stage social entrepreneurs working on scalable solutions to pressing social and environmental issues. By supporting organizations with innovative approaches and proven impact, they aim to uplift underserved communities globally. The foundation offers operational support, funding of up to $300,000 over three years, and fosters a collaborative community among its portfolio organizations. They focus on candidates demonstrating measurable impact and sustainable growth potential.

The Sidney Stern Memorial Trust Grant supports charitable, scientific, medical, and educational organizations that are 501(c)(3) certified. This private funder emphasizes impactful service to diverse populations without discrimination. Grants must be utilized within the United States and cannot be awarded to individuals, political candidates, or lobbying efforts. The Trust is dedicated to enhancing the general welfare through soundly-managed initiatives that contribute significantly to community needs.

The Bank of America Foundation Sponsorship Program aims to enhance economic mobility and social progress in low- and moderate-income communities through partnerships with nonprofit organizations. This initiative focuses on critical areas such as workforce education, basic needs like food and housing, and community development. The Foundation invested $350 million last year and encourages employee volunteerism and giving, supporting nonprofits in various sectors, including arts, culture, and diversity initiatives.

The Tony Robbins Foundation Grant aims to empower individuals and organizations to improve the lives of marginalized communities, including youth, seniors, and the homeless. By providing financial support to aligned nonprofits, the foundation seeks to create impactful changes globally. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits or recognized international entities, with a mission statement that resonates with the foundation's goals. The foundation does not fund personal projects or startups.

The Abell Foundation's Community Development Grants support initiatives in Baltimore City that enhance quality of life and address urban poverty. The foundation prioritizes funding for organizations tackling systemic issues in education, workforce development, health services, community development, criminal justice, environment, and the arts. Grants over $10,000 are awarded to nonprofits and government agencies that demonstrate measurable impact and innovation, focusing on underserved populations to foster community engagement and sustainable growth.

Ameriprise Community Grants focus on supporting nonprofits that enhance community vitality and meet basic needs. With over 120 years of commitment to philanthropy, Ameriprise Financial engages employees in volunteerism and grantmaking. Key giving areas include hunger relief, housing stability, and community development. Priority is given to organizations with active volunteer engagement from Ameriprise advisors and employees, creating a meaningful impact on financial independence and community resilience.

The CFES Workforce Development Grant supports programs aimed at enhancing job training and career advancement, particularly for underrepresented groups such as individuals with disabilities and non-traditional students. With a maximum funding of $7,500, the grant prioritizes collaborative efforts that demonstrate a commitment to quality education and workforce development. Eligible applicants include IRS-designated nonprofits and educational institutions serving Maryland's Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset Counties.

Enterprise Community Partners

Enterprise Community Partners is a national nonprofit that exists to make a good home possible for the millions of families without one. Home is where life happens, where plans are made, and futures begin. It is the foundation for dignity, health, education, wealth, and community. Yet rents keep going up, paychecks don’t keep pace, and good homes in strong neighborhoods are increasingly out of reach.

The system doesn’t work. It must be changed, and it must be changed by us.

We aggregate and invest billions to improve housing and strengthen communities across the U.S. We advance housing policy at every level of government. We build and manage communities ourselves. Together with our partners, we focus on the greatest need — the massive shortage of affordable rental homes — to achieve three goals:

• Increase the supply of affordable homes
• Advance racial equity after decades of systematic racism in housing
• Support residents and strengthen communities to be resilient to the unpredictable, and make upward mobility possible

Since 1982, we have invested $92.0 billion and created 1.1 million homes across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We do all this to make home and community places of pride, power, and belonging.

National Housing Innovation Grant Competition

Home is foundational. It’s where we plant roots, raise and care for our families, and build community bonds. Yet in every corner of the country, millions of people of all ages and backgrounds need a home they can afford.

Wells Fargo is meeting this moment with a powerful grant opportunity. Together with Enterprise, Wells Fargo has launched the third iteration of the Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge. The 2026 cycle of the housing innovation competition will identify and propel proven, ready-to-scale solutions that transform current practices and increase housing choice and access.

Eligible applicants will compete for five individual grants of $2 million to advance their innovation and drive meaningful, systems-level change in the housing and adjacent industries. Winners will gain access to mentorship and coaching from industry leaders and experts and join a powerful network of Breakthrough Challenge innovators.

Focus Areas

This third cycle of the Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge aims to meet the nation’s affordable housing challenges across all types of communities: Native, rural, suburban, tribal, and urban.

Proposals must encompass one or more of three focus areas:

• Design and Construction
• Finance
• Service Delivery and Programs

Applicants will be asked to show how their proof of concept or pilot program has achieved clear outcomes and success, and provide a clear pathway to expanding the innovation’s reach and impact

Round 1: Criteria and Scoring

Your innovation must meet the criteria below to advance to the official scoring stage.

Type of Community

Innovations can serve all types of communities:

• Rural
• Urban
• Suburban
• Tribal

Location

Priority scoring will be given to applications from entities that are based in – or whose innovations are designed for – one or more of these 28 states, plus D.C.:

• Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C.

Affordability

Innovations must serve residents at these income levels:

• Rental: 80% AMI or below
• Homeownership: 120% AMI or below
• Workforce housing: 120% AMI or below

The Rosendin Foundation Annual Grant provides financial support to community-focused 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations across various states, aiding initiatives in emotional, occupational, and nutritional health. Grants can reach up to $50,000 and are geared towards organizations that positively impact their communities. However, the foundation does not fund discriminatory practices, political efforts, or religiously affiliated projects, ensuring that support is directed towards inclusive and impactful community services.

The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County Mini Grants support innovative arts initiatives aimed at expanding audience engagement, particularly in underserved communities. With grants up to $2,500 and a dollar-for-dollar matching requirement, this program encourages partnerships and activities that promote diversity, equity, and cultural enrichment. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits based in Anne Arundel County and demonstrate a history of community-focused programming. Grant cycles occur twice a year, in spring and fall.

The Cowles Charitable Trust Grant supports initiatives aligned with the philanthropic legacy of Gardner Cowles, Jr. Focused on education, social justice, health, and the arts, it favors organizations recognized as 501(c)(3) by the IRS. The Trust encourages applications for general operating support and seeks partnerships rather than being the sole funder. Notably, it considers applications from established partners and supports efforts in Downstate New York and South Florida, with a preference for diverse funding sources.

The Herbert Bearman Foundation Grant supports initiatives that enhance the well-being of individuals and communities in Baltimore, Maryland, Palm Beach County, Florida, and Israel. The biannual grant cycle requires a Letter of Inquiry by December 15 for spring funding and June 15 for fall funding. While the foundation prefers project-specific funding, it may consider grants for general operating support under certain conditions. Applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations.

The Gupta Family Foundation Grant aims to empower disadvantaged individuals by providing financial support to organizations that foster self-reliance. Headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, the foundation offers grants ranging from $5,000 to over $250,000, prioritizing smaller organizations with a strong commitment to their missions. Eligibility typically includes US-based IRS 501(c)(3) entities, with operations extending to countries like India and Kenya. The foundation emphasizes mission alignment and effective resource allocation to ensure maximum impact.

The Delaplaine Foundation Grant is a private family foundation based in Frederick, Maryland, dedicated to enriching communities through support for non-profit organizations focused on cultural arts, education, health, historical preservation, and spiritual enlightenment. With a commitment to local impact, it primarily awards funding in Frederick County, while also considering applications from nearby states and beyond. Eligible organizations must be recognized as tax-exempt public charities under IRS regulations.

The Fund for Change Grants support organizations advocating for social change, focusing on underserved communities. With an average grant size of $10,000-25,000, it funds initiatives in housing, behavioral health, criminal justice reform, and environmental justice. Eligible organizations can apply annually, but multi-year commitments are not available. The fund does not support capital campaigns, indirect costs, endowments, or individual scholarships, ensuring that funds are directed towards direct program expenses.

The CTF: Rooted in Justice Grants program aims to empower youth aged 12 to 20 by funding community-based organizations that engage them in environmental and food justice initiatives. With two-year grants of $25,000 per year, this program prioritizes youth-led urban greening efforts, acknowledging the importance of youth voices in creating equitable communities. Eligible organizations must operate in specific U.S. states and have existing programs that align with social justice principles.

The Kahlert Foundation Maryland Grant aims to enhance community well-being by supporting non-profit organizations focused on health care, education, youth programs, veteran services, and human services primarily in Maryland and Utah. Eligible organizations must have a valid 501(c)(3) status and a strong Guidestar rating. The foundation encourages innovative proposals that demonstrate measurable impact and community benefit, with a preference for those that address multiple areas of focus.

The Dudley T. Dougherty Foundation Grant supports nonprofit charitable organizations recognized under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Revenue Code. Established in 2002, the foundation aims to empower groups committed to positive change, fostering respect for life and the environment. Their vision emphasizes collaboration for a better future, encouraging applicants to embody these values in their initiatives. With a focus on impactful projects, this grant is an opportunity for organizations striving to make a critical difference in our world.

The County Arts Development Grant supports Maryland's county arts agencies through a structured funding formula, ensuring equitable distribution of resources to foster local arts activities. With two application cycles, agencies can apply for funding every three years, promoting community engagement and support for diverse artistic initiatives. The program emphasizes transparency and accessibility, allowing funds to be used for re-granting, programming, and administrative costs, ultimately benefiting county residents and artists alike.

The Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund's Manufacturing Assistance Program aims to enhance the production of cell therapy products by providing funding up to $1,000,000 for Maryland-based companies. This initiative supports the establishment of advanced manufacturing facilities to meet market needs while fostering an experienced workforce. Companies must be located in Maryland and demonstrate the capability to execute their proposed research efficiently, ensuring compliance with state regulations to advance stem cell research and therapies.

The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) offers vital financial and technical assistance to agricultural and forestry producers in Maryland. It aims to address natural resource issues and enhance environmental quality. Participants can access conservation practices that lead to improved soil health, reduced pollution, and enhanced wildlife habitats. With continuous application acceptance until December 1, 2025, EQIP fosters sustainable agricultural practices while ensuring compliance with environmental standards, benefiting both producers and the ecosystem.

Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore

As leaders, grant makers, and stewards of philanthropy, the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore connects people who care to causes that matter for the common good of the Lower Eastern Shore. We are a 501c3 nonprofit with an inspiring history of fostering charitable endeavors, and have provided more than $123 million in grants and scholarships to the local community since 1984. We collaborate with individuals, families, and businesses to match their charitable interests with community needs and strengthen local nonprofits through grants and resources. We are devoted to improving our regional community and believe in the power of philanthropy.  

Community Needs Letter of Inquiry

The Community Needs grant supports a broad range of charitable programs. CFES aims to meet the evolving needs of our grantees as they work to serve our communities. Applicants may request support for operations or programs. However, limitations may apply and some organizations, particularly those new to our grant programs, may be restricted to programmatic requests. If this is the case, staff will provide direction after the letter of inquiry review. This grant program will start with a LETTER OF INQUIRY. It will be important to explain in your Letter of Inquiry the impact your organization makes in our region, the amount requested, and intended use of funds. Invited applicants will submit final applications.

Limitations

• Out of area applicants must be actively serving citizens of Wicomico, Worcester, and/or Somerset Counties and must contact the Foundation prior to applying to determine eligibility. Applications must discuss and provide evidence of local impact.

• Organizations new to CFES may not be eligible for operational support and may be limited to a lower grant maximum. We will communicate any restrictions or concerns upon reviewing your letter of inquiry.

• Places of worship may request programmatic support for non-sectarian work (community programming accessible to all and not limited to congregation members).

• Government agencies may request programmatic support.

• Pre-K through 12 schools may request support through our annual Education Grants program.

• To ensure resources remain available for new organizations or projects, repeat requests (requested funding for the same organization or project year after year) may be limited to a lower award maximum or denied in competitive grant cycles.

The Pooled Monitoring Initiative’s Restoration Research Award Program, led by the Chesapeake Bay Trust and various partners, aims to address critical restoration questions hindering watershed restoration efforts. By funding targeted research, the initiative seeks to enhance confidence in project outcomes, optimize restoration techniques, and provide valuable insights for regulatory agencies. This collaborative effort pools resources to tackle pressing research queries and ensure effective monitoring and restoration practices in the Chesapeake Bay area.

The Dr. Scholl Foundation offers grants annually to IRS 501(c)(3) organizations, primarily focusing on U.S. applicants. The foundation supports projects in education, social services, healthcare, civic and cultural initiatives, and environmental efforts. While the grant cycle runs from October 1 to March 1, it encourages innovative solutions to global challenges. Only one application per organization is accepted each year, and funding is limited to one year. Unqualified organizations, including political entities, are ineligible.

The Women’s Giving Circle of Harford County (WGC) Grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations focused on women, children, and families in Harford County. Grants of up to $5,000 are awarded for specific projects or activities that directly benefit these groups. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entities, and funds cannot be used for general operating expenses or sectarian purposes. Applications must include detailed project proposals and prior grant reports if applicable.

The O'Reilly Automotive Foundation Grant focuses on enhancing community welfare through philanthropic initiatives that support economic stability, workforce development, health services, and disaster relief. Established in 2020, the Foundation seeks to empower underrepresented individuals and organizations in the U.S. by addressing vital community needs. It particularly aims to provide assistance to nonprofits that foster positive change and improve quality of life for those in need, ensuring a lasting impact in local communities.
