Charitable Contributions

Costco Wholesale’s primary charitable efforts specifically focus on programs supporting children, education, and health and human services in the communities where we do business. Throughout the year we receive a large number of requests from nonprofit organizations striving to make a positive impact, and we are thankful to be able to provide support to a variety of organizations and causes. While we would like to respond favorably to all requests, understandably, the needs are far greater than our allocated resources and we are unable to accommodate them all.

Grant Applications

If the request is under consideration, you may be contacted by staff for any additional information needed. Applications are reviewed within 4-6 weeks, and decisions are made based on several factors, including: type of program; identified community need not otherwise available; indication that evidenced based data will establish measurable results of intended outcomes; community collaboration; broad base of financial support; project budget and operating expenses.

The Creag Foundation is a private grant making foundation established in 2009 in Woodinville, Washington.

The founders of the Creag Foundation believe that meaningful change can only be achieved through hard work, creativity and passion. They also understand the practical mechanisms that allow charitable organizations to succeed and grow. As a group, Creag Foundation principals are dedicated to helping today’s most innovative programs improve the human condition in a wide variety of ways.

Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation seeks to dramatically improve the lives of underserved communities across the globe by supporting scalable, innovative, and impact-first solutions that leverage existing systems and stakeholders. What stage of growth does DRK Foundation typically fund?

Early stage: Organizations who are early stage, which we define as post-pilot and pre-scale. This typically means: 

• Your program, product or service is already being used in the market or in the field, 
• You have early indication that your model is having its intended impact on the beneficiary populations,
• Your organization is relatively young (ideally between two and five years old, although we will consider both younger and older organizations).

Venture funding: In the case of for profits, we typically support Seed to Series A organizations, and never lead rounds; we also generally but not exclusively refrain from participating in financings exceeding a $15M USD post-money valuation.

  • We are interested in projects that:
    • Support outreach, education and enrollment efforts for the children’s health insurance program (i.e. KidCare), Medicaid, and the ACA health insurance marketplace.

  • In relation to our work with anchor institutions, we will fund projects implemented through the South Florida Anchor Alliance, for which membership and participation in work group meetings is required.     • Increase the number of regional institutions aligning internal practices and resources that contribute to an inclusive local economy.
    • Increase community benefit investments in community wealth building.

The Labcorp Charitable Foundation

We believe every person deserves equitable care and education.

In 2020 Labcorp established a private charitable 501(c)(3) foundation to advance our desire to bring quality healthcare access to all by supporting education and our local communities.

Michael & Susan Dell Foundation Grants

The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation only accepts unsolicited proposals for specific areas within the education, family economic stability and childhood health sectors in select countries where we work, namely the United States, India and South Africa.

As a guideline, the foundation does not fund more than 25% of a project’s budget or more than 10% of an organization’s total annual operating expenses.

The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation has always recognized the power of providing grants to partner organizations that we knew were already working hard to improve the lives of urban children living in poverty. By aligning with organizations that are already making a difference, we continue to make an immediate impact on the lives of thousands of children.

Foundation priorities:

We fund social enterprises that directly serve or impact children or youth from urban low-income communities in the areas of education, health, and family economic stability (including livelihoods and financial inclusion). These social enterprises may be structured as for-profit or nonprofit entities.

Urology Oncology Fellowship

The Urology Oncology Fellowship at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute provides comprehensive training in all aspects of Urologic Oncology, including evaluating complex oncology patients, performing physical exam and formulate a plan of care in outpatient and inpatient settings.

The fellow will be responsible for covering all major surgical cases as well as rounding. The fellow will also have teaching responsibilities to medical students rotating in Urology.

The Baptist Health Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction Fellowship

The Baptist Health Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction Fellowship is designed to provide a comprehensive experience in the surgical management of arthritic conditions of the hip and knee.

The fellowship provides extensive experience in surgical procedures including primary and revision total knee and hip arthroplasty, partial knee arthroplasty, custom knee replacements and robotics. There is an emphasis on the direct anterior approach to total hip arthroplasty, including revision. Most procedures take place at the newly opened state-of-the-art Miami HEAT Sports Medicine Center.

Fellows will rotate with five faculty members from Baptist Health Orthopedic Care during the year, obtaining a high-volume, in-depth and personalized surgical experience. In addition to teaching the necessary technical aspects that lead to a skilled and confident surgeon, the art of taking care of patients is emphasized. Fellows are encouraged to participate in on going investigator-initiated clinical studies.

Additionally, participation in ongoing clinical and basic science research projects is encouraged and protected time for these scholarly activities is built into the weekly schedule. The program’s training site includes dedicated research staff that is available to assist in the development of research projects. Didactic sessions following AAHKS FOCAL Committee guidelines include a weekly case review, conferences, monthly journal club, M&M and Complex case conference.

The mission of the program is to provide an intellectually stimulating and challenging clinical, surgical, and research environment with thorough experience in joint replacement, and sound preparation for building a surgical practice in an academic or private setting.

Our program attracts, educates, and retains exceptional healthcare talent to serve the South Florida community. Program participants will be trained in the Baptist Health Way with a focus on quality, inclusion, compassion, and collaboration.

The Baptist Health Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgery Fellowship

The Baptist Health Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgery Fellowship offers comprehensive experience in the management of a wide spectrum of foot and ankle conditions in a high-volume clinical practice.

Both traditional and innovative techniques are taught, covering the gamut of sports medicine, arthroscopy, reconstructive and trauma surgery. In addition to teaching the necessary technical aspects that lead to a skilled and confident surgeon, the art of taking care of patients is emphasized. This program is for physicians who have completed an orthopedic surgery residency and would like a comprehensive fellowship experience within a world-class orthopedic institute.

The Fellow will work on a one-to-one basis with three attending physicians from Baptist Health Orthopedic Care and will participate in over 550 cases during the training period. Most procedures take place at the newly opened state-of-the-art Miami HEAT Sports Medicine Center.

Additionally, participation in ongoing clinical and basic science research projects is encouraged and protected time for these scholarly activities is built into the weekly schedule. The program’s training site includes dedicated research staff that is available to assist in the development of research projects. Fellows will also participate in a monthly journal club, M&M and interesting case conference. Finally, fellows have year-round access to our on-site cadaveric Bioskills training lab to practice new procedures and hone their surgical skills.

Miami is an ideal location for a fellow to learn and practice orthopedic and sports medicine. The program offers unique year-round coverage and care opportunities for a wide variety of high school, collegiate and professional sports teams.

The Baptist Health Oral Oncology Fellowship Program

The Miami Cancer Institute offers a one-year, full-time Oral Oncology Fellowship Program for dentists dedicated to becoming experts in oral oncology and in the management of oral diseases in patients with cancer.

During the fellowship, participants will gain hands-on experience in evaluating, diagnosing, and managing oral diseases for cancer patients through clinical and educational opportunities. The program emphasizes effective communication and collaboration in an interprofessional care model, involving dentists, mid-level providers, trainee physicians, and attending physicians. The patient population served includes both adults and children, encompassing newly diagnosed individuals and long-term cancer survivors. Besides providing clinical care in the oral medicine and oral oncology clinic, fellows will also gain valuable experience through rotations in medical oncology clinics, such as hematology/oncology and head and neck oncology.

The fellowship has specific goals and objectives, which include developing a comprehensive understanding of oncology and its impact on the community, fostering interprofessional teamwork with other healthcare providers, interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests in the context of Oral Oncology, providing safe and effective oral health care for oncology patients (including preventive care), honing patient management skills (treatment planning, pharmacotherapeutics, patient education, and counseling), and educating both professional and lay communities about the crucial connection between oral health and systemic health.

The educational structure of the fellowship comprises various learning experiences, including patient care in the Oral Medicine and Oral Oncology clinic and inpatient consult service, clinical oncology rotations, seminars, lectures, conferences, and engaging in research and scholarly activities. Overall, the fellowship aims to equip dentists with a foundational level of competency in oral oncology and a focus on promoting oral health within the community.

The Impact Fund awards recoverable grants to legal services nonprofits, private attorneys, and small law firms who seek to confront economic, environmental, racial, and social injustice. Since our founding in 1992, the Impact Fund has made more than 800 recoverable grants totaling more than $10 million for impact litigation. We award grants four times per year, most within the range of US$10,000 to US$50,000.

Social Justice

The Impact Fund provides grants and legal support to assist in human and civil rights cases. We have helped to change dozens of laws and win cases to improve the rights of thousands. The cases we are funding allege that:

• In Texas and North Carolina, incarcerated people with mental health disabilities are forced to remain in jail despite being found not guilty and unable to proceed with a criminal trial.
• In Orange County, California there are currently 13 gang injunctions under effect, which disproportionately affect young men of color.
• In Chicago, Illinois, the city’s homeless shelter program is inaccessible to people with disabilities.
• In Springfield, Oregon, the city and its police department used excessive force against Black Lives Matter protesters.
• In West Virginia, the state fails to protect children in foster care from abuse and neglect. 
• In Montana, voter suppression laws disadvantage young adults and give priority to gun owners.
• In Gary, Indiana, a gun manufacturer negligently marketed and distributed its guns, leading to an epidemic of gun violence in the city. 
• In Vancouver, British Columbia, the police perpetuate systemic discrimination against Indigenous people through bureaucratic measures.

Environmental Justice

The Impact Fund provides grants to support local litigation for environmental justice. These grants are for cases aiming to help people or communities who are affected by environmental harm or who lack access to basic environmental needs, such as clean water, clean air, adequate waste treatment, and green spaces. The cases we are funding allege that:

• In Centreville, Illinois, the city’s failure to maintain its sewer system has caused raw sewage to flood peoples’ homes, endangering the property and health of a predominantly Black community.
• In Fresno County, California, the California Department of Transportation approved a highway expansion project that would increase air pollution and traffic in one of the state’s most environmentally burdened communities.
• In downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the proposed expansion of a highway would divide the region's Black, Asian, and Latine neighborhoods and cause pollution and ill health.
• In North Dakota, the five-month closure of a highway in response to the Dakota Access Pipeline protests disproportionately affected the livelihoods and health of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe members.
• In Ontario, Canada, mercury contamination of the English-Wabigoon river system causes catastrophic environmental and health impacts for the Grassy Narrows First Nation.
• In Sacramento, California, the county government and Sacramento Area Sewer District violated the Clean Water Act by discharging raw sewage into nearby rivers.
• In the Eastern Coachella Valley in California, 1,900 residents of the Oasis Mobile Home Park suffer from arsenic-laced drinking water, wastewater contamination, and overcharging for utilities.

Economic Justice

The Impact Fund provides financial and other forms of support to cases fighting for economic justice. From workers' rights to consumer protection for vulnerable populations, impact litigation is a powerful tool to hold corporationss and the government accountable. The cases we are funding allege that:

• In Brooklyn, New York, a prominent mortgage lender engaged in predatory practices, leaving homeowners of color at risk of losing their homes. 
• In Washington, live-in caregivers are unconstitutionally excluded from the state’s wage-and-hour protections.
• In Ravalli County, Montana, the county has created a “modern-day debtors’ prison” by incarcerating people unable to afford pre-trial fees. 
• In San Diego, California, vehicle ordinances target unhoused vehicle owners even when no adequate housing alternative exists.
• In New York, a federal immigration detention facility is violating minimum wage and forced labor laws by forcing detainees to work for just a dollar a day. 
• In Minneapolis, Minnesota, the city and county destroy the property of unhoused individuals and conduct forced evictions from public spaces. 
• In Miami, Florida, insurance companies discriminate against a nonprofit community development corporation renting to tenants with Section 8 rental subsidies.

The Foundation is dedicated to providing financial assistance to organizations committed to improving our world. Solutions to the problems of today's world still lie in the values of innovation, practicality, hard work, and compassion.

The categories above are not intended to limit the interest of the Foundation from considering other worthwhile projects. In general, the Foundation guidelines are broad to give us flexibility in providing grants.

The majority of our grants are made in the U.S. However, like Dr. Scholl, we recognize the need for a global outlook. Non-U.S. grants are given to organizations where directors have knowledge of the grantee.

The Lawrence Foundation is a private family foundation focused on making grants to support environmental, human services and other causes.

The Lawrence Foundation was established in mid-2000. We make both program and operating grants and do not have any geographical restrictions on our grants. Nonprofit organizations that qualify for public charity status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or other similar organizations are eligible for grants from The Lawrence Foundation.  

Grant Amount and Types

Grants typically range between $5,000 - $10,000. In some limited cases we may make larger grants, but that is typically after we have gotten to know your organization over a period of time. We also generally don’t make multi-year grants, although we may fund the same organization on a year by year basis over a period of years.

General operating or program/project grant requests within our areas of interests are accepted. In general, regardless of whether a grant request is for general operating or program/project expenses, all of our grants will be issued as unrestricted grants.

The Baptist Health Advance Practice Provider Neurology Fellowship

The Advance Practice Neurology Fellowship Program at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute is dedicated to developing Advance Practice Professionals who are highly motivated and dedicated to providing high-quality, evidenced based, economically astute, compassionate, and culturally congruent care to patients with acute and chronic neurological conditions.

The Advance Practice Provider (APP) Neurology Fellowship is a 12-month postgraduate training program for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants/Associates who are passionate about pursuing a career in Neurology. The program design is committed to excellence in neurological practice and uses innovative approaches to integrate didactic and clinical models of learning to build upon the standard advance practice provider curriculum to enhance the knowledge and skills needed to care for patients with neurological disorders.

The program introduces the APP candidates to the basic sciences and core concepts of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology that are necessary for a practitioner to clinically evaluate a patient with neurological diseases. Building upon this foundation, the pathophysiology of diseases affecting the brain and special senses and the clinical presentation of these diseases are also covered. Treatment of these diseases, including pharmacological, is integrated with the clinical focus. The students learn how to use physical examination to assess patients with diseases affecting the nervous system, muscles and nerves. Multiple formative and summative assessments are provided to aid in the APP’s knowledge and understanding of the course material.

APP candidates who complete this program will gain the knowledge to provide culturally appropriate and clinically sound care to patients in the inpatients and out patient setting with various neurological conditions. The program will allow graduates to practice Neurology to the full breath and scope of their licensure and certification.

The purpose of the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation, Inc., is to provide funding for programs and projects designed to improve, preserve or restore the health and healthcare of the people in Miami-Dade County, Florida.

The Foundation is proud to provide grants that contribute to the well-being of our community, touch future generations, and inspire others to make their communities—and their world—a better place.  

Community Grants

Funding for local community-based organizations and medical and nursing scholarships are vitally important and remain a priority for funding. The Foundation realizes the potential in individuals, smaller initiatives that are key to promoting sustainable transformation in the populations we serve.

Since becoming a grant-making organization in 1992, the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation has given over 597 grants to community organizations to conduct projects or programs related to the health needs of the citizens of Miami-Dade Country. The Foundation also provides scholarships to medical and nursing students at local colleges and universities.

Our Funding Priorities

• Projects that target direct medical care.
• Health-related projects that assist children and the economically disadvantaged.
• Projects that promote health education, prevention, and early detection of disease.

Community Partnership Award

The Mutual of America Foundation Community Partnership Award recognizes outstanding nonprofit organizations in the United States that have shown exemplary leadership by facilitating partnerships with public, private or social sector leaders who are working together as equal partners, not as donors and recipients, to build a cohesive community that serves as a model for collaborating with others for the greater good.

Each year, the Mutual of America Foundation sponsors a national competition in which hundreds of organizations demonstrate the value of their partnership to the communities they serve, their ability to be replicated by others and their capacity to stimulate new approaches to addressing significant social issues.

Six organizations are selected by an independent committee to receive the Community Partnership Award.

• The Thomas J. Moran Award is given to the national award-winning program and includes $100,000 and a documentary video about the program.
• The Frances R. Hesselbein Award is given to a partnership that is addressing social challenges in more than one community, or which demonstrates the potential to be replicated in other communities. This recipient receives $75,000.
• Four other organizations are named Honorable Mention recipients for their programs, and each receives $50,000.

Since its inception in 1996, the Community Partnership Award has recognized 262 partnerships from cities and towns across America. Like so many of our clients working in the nonprofit community, Mutual of America is dedicated to having a direct, positive impact on society.

Gupta Family Foundation is a private, nonprofit foundation headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, USA. Our mission is to support organizations that provide focused intervention in the lives of people who have been disadvantaged in some way to help them become self-reliant. We take a very broad view of “disadvantage” to include anything that holds a person back from realizing their potential, such as poverty, physical or mental disability, social alienation, etc. The foundation also supports relief agencies that serve people affected by emergencies such as natural disasters.

The foundation evaluates and awards annual and multi-year grants ranging from $5,000 to over $250,000 (USD). Our focus is on funding smaller organizations all around the world that are led by individuals with a deep personal commitment to their missions. 

Our selection criteria include:

• Mission alignment
• The organization is run by the founder or, if not, by a successor who embodies the original inspiration, passion and commitment of the founder.
• At least 90% of grant monies reaches the intended beneficiaries.
• The organization is non-sectarian, i.e.,
  • It does not, directly or indirectly, support or condone the proselytization of any religion,
  • It is not supported by or affiliated to a religious organization.

About Us

Established in 1967, The Miami Foundation is the foundation for people who are passionate about Miami. The Miami Foundation is focused on building a stronger Miami forever.  Over the last 50 years we have invested more than half a billion dollars into our community, and we house more than $427 million in assets focused on strengthening Greater Miami.

Safe Communities Program

The Safe Communities Program strives to ensure safety and opportunity for all Greater Miami residents. We do this by investing in education and economic mobility, health services to overcome substance dependence, and collective action to improve community safety. The Fund is particularly focused on supporting survivors of human trafficking, gun violence, and other crimes as well as people who were previously involved in the justice system.

The Miami Foundation collaborates with over 1,000 fundholders that seek to invest in the Greater Miami community. Among those, we manage two field of interest funds set up with the State Attorney’s Office for the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida. To effectively invest these community resources, the Safe Communities Program was established as one comprehensive grant program in 2021. The program will continue to pursue the Funds’ shared mission to ensure Greater Miami is a safe community that offers opportunities for all residents.

What We Fund

The Safe Communities Program supports nonprofit work in five categories. The descriptions below are intended only to provide guidance and do not exclude other potential approaches. Proposals in each category are considered equally.

Eligible organizations may submit only one application in only one category.

• Crime Prevention and Deterrence
  • Build a safe community that offers opportunity for all people by activating residents to improve community safety as well as investing in economic and educational mobility to develop alternatives to illicit activity, particularly for people who were previously incarcerated or involved in the justice system.
  • This may include job training or placement programs as well as educational programs about illicit substances to prevent impaired driving.
• Human Trafficking
  • Support minors or adults who are survivors of human trafficking through high quality services such as health care, substance abuse treatment, mental health services, housing, immigration services or other critical needs.
• Substance Dependence Services
  • Guide people to overcome substance dependence or misuse by providing wraparound services that may include substance abuse counseling and treatment, mental health services, or support strategies to develop personal resilience.
• Survivor Assistance
  • Help survivors and their loved ones overcome the financial, health, or other challenges they face as a result of being victims of gun violence or other crimes.
  • This may include education assistance.
• Youth Development
  • Prepare youth to successfully reach their full potential in academics, career, and life by supporting youth whose life experiences or environments put them at risk for becoming involved in crime or violence.
  • This may include mentoring, educational support, employment and career preparation, or personal development.
