The Carrie P. Meek Scholarship offers financial assistance ranging from $500 to $1,000 for students pursuing a college or university degree in South Florida. Eligible applicants must demonstrate a commitment to public service through community involvement and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. This scholarship, funded by the American Society for Public Administration, aims to support students dedicated to civic engagement and public service.

The Admirals Cove Foundation Grant supports programs that enhance education, health, and social services for individuals and families in northern Palm Beach County. Grants of up to $75,000 are available for projects that align with these areas. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt. The grant process encourages innovative solutions to community challenges, fostering collaboration and sustainable development.

Program Description

Tau Grants are intended to strengthen the health and well-being of communities across our six-county region. These grants specifically support small nonprofit organizations that expand access to healthcare services or promote economic mobility. We are especially interested in organizations that both serve and are led by people from historically marginalized communities, including BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, and immigrants. Tau Grants provide unrestricted general operating support to help these organizations thrive.

General operating grants strengthen the organization’s overall mission and goals and further its charitable purpose. The focus is not on specific projects or programs. Examples include strategic planning, technology upgrades, audits, and infrastructure costs such as utilities, rent, and personnel.

Focus Areas

Economic mobility is the ability of individuals to improve themselves and their families' economic condition.

Examples may include organizations focused on:

• job training/placement
• entrepreneurship
• social assistance
• financial literacy

The CFPBMC Year-Round Grant supports nonprofit organizations in Palm Beach and Martin Counties. It encourages projects aligned with four focus areas: Capacity Building, Economic Opportunity, Education and Youth, and Thriving Communities. Grants can reach up to $75,000 and are awarded based on a competitive process. Interested organizations must submit a Letter of Inquiry and may be invited to submit a full proposal based on their alignment with the foundation's mission and strategic goals.

America’s Heroes Scholarship Fund

About the Fund

In the Summer of 2016, five police officers were brutally executed in Dallas, Texas. Jim McDavid sat in his truck listening to the radio commentary, the commentary hit him like a ton of bricks. In that moment, he made the decision to throw his time and resources behind the men and women in blue. Through in-depth research, he discovered that there were very few charities that support fallen law enforcement families, and the money raised was very small in comparison to other notable charities. The McDavid Group Charities supports the educational goals of children and spouses of fallen law enforcement officers. “The America’s Heroes Scholarship Fund” funds scholarships for fallen officer families nationwide. • Must have “C” average or better in HS. Based on financial need.

Christopher N. Coppola Scholarship Fund

About the Fund

When friends remember Christopher N. Coppola, who died unexpectedly in March 2000 at age 33, they speak of his boundless energy, unflagging good humor, and infectious zest for life.

“He was the glue that kept all the rest of us together,” said Mary Murphy, whose older brother, Martin, was Chris’ classmate from kindergarten through graduation at Cardinal Newman High School. An only child, Chris considered the Murphy siblings — and many others — his extended family. “He was always with us,” she added.

After earning his degree from Appalachian State University in North Carolina, Chris returned to West Palm Beach to work with the Murphy family’s construction company. He later built a successful career as a certified commercial real estate appraiser with firms including Johnson & Parrish and Callaway & Price, contributing to major development projects throughout South Florida.

“Chris had more circles of friends than anyone could ever imagine,” said Martin Murphy. “He just loved being around people. He was a real gregarious person. Everyone felt he was their best friend.”

“He could always find something good about someone,” added Mary. “He really listened. He was a great friend to everyone. He could always make you laugh. He was an unbelievable person.”

Chris’s sudden loss left a void that inspired his friends to honor his memory in a lasting way. Led by the Murphy and Satter families, they established the Christopher N. Coppola Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties. The fund supports graduating high school seniors in Palm Beach County who plan to study real estate or related fields such as construction, architecture, urban planning, development, or appraisal.
