NCRC is looking for fellowship projects that move the needle on housing, small business development, and workforce development. The NCRC Fellowship cultivates the next generation of community development leaders and empowers them to tackle the issues of tomorrow. National Housing Innovation Grant Competition

Home is foundational. It’s where we plant roots, raise and care for our families, and build community bonds. Yet in every corner of the country, millions of people of all ages and backgrounds need a home they can afford.

Wells Fargo is meeting this moment with a powerful grant opportunity. Together with Enterprise, Wells Fargo has launched the third iteration of the Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge. The 2026 cycle of the housing innovation competition will identify and propel proven, ready-to-scale solutions that transform current practices and increase housing choice and access.

Eligible applicants will compete for five individual grants of $2 million to advance their innovation and drive meaningful, systems-level change in the housing and adjacent industries. Winners will gain access to mentorship and coaching from industry leaders and experts and join a powerful network of Breakthrough Challenge innovators.

Focus Areas

This third cycle of the Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge aims to meet the nation’s affordable housing challenges across all types of communities: Native, rural, suburban, tribal, and urban.

Nonprofit organizations in Texas that support working Texans through childcare access, primary healthcare, or basic needs for employment stability can seek funding to expand workforce opportunity programs. Texas Mutual Insurance Company’s Working Texans Economic Opportunity Grant offers US $25,000 - US $100,000 for initiatives that champion working parents, prioritize workforce wellness, or enable workforce advancement.

Workforce development and job readiness nonprofits in Texas can apply for Regions Bank’s matching gifts program, which doubles eligible full-time associate donations to 501(c) or 170(c) organizations. Programs focused on education and workforce readiness, financial wellness, economic and community development, or related priorities within the Regions footprint may benefit.

Texas 501(c) and 170(c) organizations focused on workforce preparation, education, financial wellness, or related community services can benefit from Regions Bank’s Matching Gifts for Recent Retirees, which offers up to US $1,000 in matched donations per retiree. Accredited educational institutions nationwide and nonprofits serving veterans, people with disabilities, arts, housing, food security, and job readiness may be eligible.

The Hispanic Impact Fund Grants, managed by the Austin Community Foundation, aim to enhance economic mobility for Hispanic Central Texans. This program focuses on funding organizations in key areas such as early childhood education, health and wellness, job skills, and leadership development. Eligible applicants include tax-exempt organizations and government units within the Central Texas region.
