There are four parts: Perkins Formula Grant; Perkins Leadership Grant; Perkins Nontraditional Grant; and Perkins Administration Grant

Program Description
To support the Strategic Priority for recruiting, supporting, and retaining effective teachers and principals, TEA is seeking Region 4 to act as a technical assistance provider with key activities including engagement with end users, oversight of the development of technical solutions, support, and updates to provide school systems with key data, coordination of Texas Education Exchange application partners, and tracking of end-user engagement with the application.

Perkins Formula Grant
Funds made available to eligible recipients under this part shall be used to support career and technical education programs that are of sufficient size, scope, and quality to be effective.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board must distribute 100 percent of the Formula Grant to community and technical colleges to fund career and technical education.

Discipline and Behavior Supports
Program Description
The purpose of this program is to support the creation, dissemination, and implementation of state-level technical assistance, professional development training, tools, and resources. These include, but are not limited to, the following topics: intensive behavioral interventions, alternatives to exclusionary discipline practices, and addressing the individualization of disciplinary practices for students with disabilities. This grant will support the development of a series of courses and training, enabling us to scale their usage across the state. The initial audience for the technical assistance and professional development provided through this grant is school district and Education Service Center (ESC) staff. These individuals work directly to support children with disabilities who exhibit challenging behaviors, aiming to improve special educator practices and outcomes for students with disabilities.
Examples of the types of activities supported by this grant include, but are not limited to, developing a variety of courses, webinars, and resources on topics outlined in the grant program’s purpose, with the goal of future implementation and statewide scaling.
