Search Through Volunteer Grants in Washington

Focused on youth development, hunger and nutrition, and veteran services, the Foundation prioritizes projects in regions such as the Southwest and Southeast United States. However, they do not fund requests exceeding $25,000 or support multi-year pledges, fundraising events, or political causes. Their mission continues to foster community connections and belonging.

The Superfeet Local Grant supports nonprofit organizations in the Pacific Northwest, emphasizing community well-being and environmental health. Grants focus on basic needs, outdoor accessibility, and sustainability, empowering underserved populations through equitable access to recreation. Preference is given to initiatives in Washington state, ensuring a meaningful impact in local communities. The foundation's commitment includes funding projects that foster inclusivity and promote long-term engagement with nature and recreational spaces.

The Legal Foundation of Washington offers Partnership Grants to support civil legal aid organizations serving low-income individuals across the state. These grants provide essential operating funds, promoting stability and encouraging long-term planning within the civil justice sector. By partnering with organizations focused on direct legal aid and systemic advocacy, LFW aims to enhance equity in access to justice. The Community Heart & Soul Grant, provided by Innovia Foundation, aims to empower rural communities across a 20-county area by fostering resident-driven initiatives. This grant of $30,000 supports community project coordinators and requires a $10,000 local match over two years. The program encourages local engagement, volunteerism, and investment in community initiatives, ultimately leading to sustainable development and revitalization. Innovia Foundation's commitment ensures tailored support and technical assistance for successful community outcomes.

ECF of Boeing Washington: Puget Sound

The Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound (ECF) is a pooled fund consisting of recurring payroll contributions from generous Boeing employees. ECF is managed by a Board of Trustees made up of eight employees elected by the donors. 

ECF funds equipment, renovations and capital campaigns. ECF seeks the “direct client benefit” of each grant to ensure that our employees’ contributions directly help those in need.

The Employees Community Fund should not be confused with The Boeing Company. They are two separate funding entities with different focus areas.

Supporting Grants

Consideration is given to nonprofits that are performing well and are seeking to upgrade, replace or modify elements of their infrastructure. These grants help agencies continue to effectively provide services and enhance their direct client benefit by aiding them in procuring items and equipment such as (but not limited to):

• Equipment (office, kitchen, industrial, furniture, etc.)
• Vehicles used to support clients and/or transport food & goods
• Phone systems
• Remodels and/or renovations (must own, or hold at least a 10-year lease)
• Purchase or construction of new buildings
• Computers for direct client benefit/use

Grant Amount: Supporting grants generally do not exceed $40,000. The request amount cannot be more than 10% of an agency’s gross annual revenues.

The WCF Community Health Grant aims to enhance the quality of life on Whidbey Island by funding projects that address health disparities and promote equitable access to resources. Eligible organizations can apply for grants up to $10,000 to support initiatives in health behaviors, clinical care, social and economic factors, and the physical environment. This program prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion, and encourages innovative and evidence-based proposals that align with community needs.

The 4Culture Operating Support: Heritage Sustained Support Grant provides essential funding to heritage organizations in King County for two years. This grant aims to enhance public access to heritage programs, support diverse communities, and promote the preservation of local history. Eligible organizations can use funds for operational expenses, staffing, and community outreach initiatives, ensuring that all residents can benefit from cultural resources and programs.

The Hugh and Jane Ferguson Foundation offers grants to nonprofit organizations in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, focusing on habitat restoration and wildlife preservation. Established in 1987, it aims to support community-based projects and collaborative initiatives that emphasize cultural and natural history. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations, with a preference for marginalized communities. The foundation does not fund research projects or media production and is particularly interested in those with limited access to traditional funding sources.

The 4Culture Collections Care Grants support King County non-profit heritage organizations in preserving historic artifacts and cultural materials. Grant funds, ranging from $1,000 to $8,000, can be used for assessments, training, conservation, and public benefit projects. The program prioritizes projects that demonstrate feasibility, quality, and impact on the community. New applications will reopen in 2025, as the current grant cycle is on hold due to ongoing federal relief fund disbursements.

The Pendleton and Elisabeth Carey Miller Charitable Foundation Grant supports civic and cultural institutions in the Pacific Northwest, with a focus on gardens, horticulture, and the region's history. Established in 1994, the foundation has distributed over $12 million to various organizations. Grants are available to 501(c)(3) organizations, including those named in Mrs. Miller's will or that support the study of Northwest history through literature. The foundation aims to continue the Millers' philanthropic legacy.

The Whidbey Climate Fund Grant supports innovative projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing sustainability on Whidbey Island. Grants of up to $5,000 are available for non-profits, governmental entities, and individuals with non-profit sponsors. Projects should focus on educating the community, improving local ecosystems, and promoting environmental health. Applications will be reviewed by a committee of climate experts, ensuring credible and impactful initiatives for a sustainable future.

The 4Culture Heritage Professional Development Stipend Grants support King County residents and heritage organizations in enhancing their skills through conferences, workshops, and training sessions. Grants ranging from $100 to $2,000 are available to help individuals and organizations engage in professional development opportunities that align with career goals in the heritage field. This initiative aims to foster informed heritage professionals who can contribute to the community's cultural preservation and education.

The Waterville Community Fund Grants, managed by the Community Foundation of NCW, aim to support innovative programs that address community needs in Waterville, Washington. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits and governmental agencies. Grants prioritize projects enhancing existing programs and those with limited funding access. Ineligible uses include reimbursement for prior expenses. This initiative fosters community engagement and development across various sectors, including arts, education, and health services.

The Washington Red Raspberry Commission offers research grants to support the advancement of red raspberry cultivation. The Innovia Foundation's Community Grant Program offers funding to organizations in a 20-county region, with awards ranging from $2,500 to $15,000. This program prioritizes impactful community initiatives in education, arts, economic opportunity, health, and quality of life. Eligible applicants include public charities and federally recognized tribes. The foundation emphasizes collaboration and inclusivity, aiming to address basic human needs and reduce inequity, while fostering vibrant and sustainable communities.

The AABE National & Regional Scholarship, awarded by the American Association of Blacks in Energy, supports students pursuing careers in the energy sector. Annually, over $350,000 is distributed through multiple scholarships, including six regional awards of $3,000 and one national award of $5,000, renewable for up to four years. Applicants must maintain a GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate commitment to energy-related fields, promoting diversity and equity in education.

First Tech Education Grants focus on innovative solutions for children and families, primarily in education and fundamental needs. They support nonprofits in Oregon, Washington, and Northern California with grants aimed at enhancing STEM education, early childhood literacy, and financial education for underserved communities. By partnering with local organizations, First Tech aims to build capacity and provide essential resources to help these communities thrive. Organizations can apply for support through an online application process.

The Bainbridge Community Foundation's Community Grants Cycle annually supports local nonprofits through grants ranging from $1,000 to $11,000. Established in 2005, this initiative emphasizes community-driven grant-making, ensuring funds are allocated to projects that directly benefit Bainbridge Island residents. Eligible applicants must have 501(c)(3) status and demonstrate a measurable impact on underserved populations. Areas of focus include arts, education, health, and environmental initiatives, fostering community engagement and collaboration.

Ninety-nine Girlfriends offers annual Impact Awards ranging from $50,000 to $100,000 to nonprofits in the Portland Metro/SW Washington area. The grants focus on four key areas: educational equity for youth, environmental sustainability, housing stability, and women's economic empowerment. Emphasizing equity and trust-based philanthropy, they seek organizations that demonstrate a commitment to community impact and inclusivity. Applications are open to 501(c)(3) entities and fiscally sponsored groups, requiring a minimum annual revenue of $100,000.

NAFC Open Grant/Product Donation Applications

The National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC) is the only nonprofit 501c(3) organization whose mission is solely focused on the issues and needs of the medically underserved throughout the nation and the more than 1,400 Free and Charitable Clinics that serve them. The NAFC has earned the Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar and a 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator. Founded in 2001 and headquartered near Washington, D.C., the NAFC is working to ensure that the medically underserved have access to affordable quality healthcare and strives to be a national voice promoting quality healthcare for all. Healthcare Access Initiative

The Healthcare Access Initiative, supported by the McKesson Foundation and administered by the NAFC, aims to expand access to essential healthcare services for uninsured and medically underserved individuals. Free and charitable clinics and pharmacies play a critical role in ensuring that patients who fall outside traditional healthcare systems can receive timely, high-quality care. However, many clinics face barriers related to staffing, care coordination, technology, and patient outreach that limit their ability to meet growing community needs. Through this initiative, NAFC will provide $20,000 grants to member clinics and pharmacies to strengthen programs that increase access to primary care, specialty services, and preventive care. Funding will support innovative and practical approaches that reduce barriers to care, improve patient engagement, and expand the capacity of clinics to serve vulnerable populations.

The Victims of Child Abuse and Neglect Initiative, overseen by the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy in Washington State, supports organizations providing essential services to children affected by abuse and neglect. Grants of up to $100,000 per year for two years target gaps in services, emphasizing direct support for victims. Eligible applicants must demonstrate experience in victim services and a commitment to addressing the needs of affected children, ensuring their safety and well-being.
