The Costume Society of America (CSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded on March 23, 1973, and incorporated in the state of New York on September 12, 1973. CSA serves it members, and promotes its goals with national symposia and publications including the journal Dress and its monthly electronic newsletter CSA e-News.

The organization began forming regional groups in 1978. There are six regional groups in the United States and Canada, and one international group. Individual regions hold annual meetings, sponsor programs and publish newsletters.

Jack Handford Summer Internship

The Western Region actively supports student members who show promise as new professionals and encourages institutions and students to apply for the Jack Handford Summer Internship offered every other year, i.e. 2026 and 2028. The internship is appropriate for students with majors such as costume studies, material culture, museum studies, fashion history, or similar. The internship is intended to average duration of six weeks or a total of 120 hours. The grant may change depending on the budget; the 2024 winner received $3,000.

Funding Opportunity: Opioid and Stimulant Use Disorder Prevention and Education

The California Department of Health Care Services, in partnership with The Center at Sierra Health Foundation, is announcing a new funding opportunity, Opioid and Stimulant Use Disorder Prevention and Education. This opportunity offers a 12-month contract for up to $200,000.00. Contracts will run from September 1, 2026 – August 31, 2027.

Funding is available for organizations to implement programs addressing opioid use, stimulant use, and polysubstance use in California. Activities should support awareness, prevention, outreach and education, work to decrease community stigma, and strengthen referral pathways to treatment and medications for opioid use disorder. Activities must be inclusive to all who seek services. Please note that the opportunity will not fund direct treatment activities or recovery support services.

Tribal Housing Pre-Development Fund

Purpose:

The Tribal Housing Pre-Development Fund is a grant opportunity that funds activities related to affordable housing development, including planning, infrastructure, construction, site preparation, and other pre-development activities. The goal of the Fund is to increase preparedness to build housing and access other state-funded, affordable housing programs. 

Description:

Eligible activities include but are not limited to Planning Activities, such as Community Needs Assessment . Feasibility Studies, Market Analyses . Environmental Assessments , and similar activities to determine housing needs and develop a project plan that is responsive to the needs of the community. The grant also funds Infrastructure Investments, such as Sewage and Drainage Infrastructure, Waste Management, and Electric Utility, Broadband, and Renewable Energy Infrastructure. The grant funds Sustainable Transportation Investments  such as Road and Safety infrastructure that do not increase vehicle capacity. The grant funds Site Acquisition and Preparation Site Appraisal and Acquisition, such as Site Preparation, including Surveying, Grading, and Mitigation, Architectural and Engineering costs, Ecological and Wildlife Restoration, and Disaster Preparedness. The grant also funds Other Associated Costs Legal Fees, such as Consultant Fees, Staff Development and Training, and Staff Salaries.

The Honda USA Foundation provides funding to support mobility initiatives that empower individuals, particularly those facing disabilities, by removing barriers and expanding opportunities. Witt Matheny Scholarship

Plan to enroll full-time at an accredited community college or licensed career/technical school in California in fall.

Cathy Hopper Memorial Scholarship

Cathy Hopper was a long-time educator and resident of San Diego County. She received her Master of Arts in Education from San Diego State University. She was a teacher in the social studies classroom of Gompers Middle School and then Taft Middle School. She became Vice Principal at Madison, then Patrick Henry High which she helped open. Cathy became Principal at Wright Brothers Career High, then Bell Jr. High and was the first Principal at University City High, being one of only two women high school principals at the time. Cathy then served as Assistant Superintendent of Operations for the San Diego Unified School District. She was one of the administrators during the tumultuous integration movement and worked tirelessly to allay fears and helped make for a peaceful transition. Upon her retirement, Cathy helped inaugurate the Aaron Price Fellows Scholarship Program.

This scholarship may be used for tuition, books, and fees room & board, and other educational expenses.

The scholarship may be renewable (depending upon available funds) for up to two years total, provided the student maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, good citizenship record, and continues to have financial need.

The Grant The Associated General Contractors Of California (AGC) School & Community Program Grants will be awarded to California middle and high schools, CTE/ROP, pre-apprenticeship programs, and/or community-based or non-profit programs focused on raising career awareness, providing educational opportunities, and skills development leading for the next generation of diverse construction professionals.

The Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems Small Grants Program, managed by the UC Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program, aims to enhance the resilience of California’s food systems. It supports projects that promote environmentally regenerative practices, improve access to healthy foods, and strengthen community connections. Priority is given to initiatives benefiting disadvantaged communities and socially disadvantaged groups, ensuring inclusivity in agricultural development while addressing ecological and economic challenges.

The Restoration Grant Programs focus on enhancing wetlands and mountain meadows in California, with up to $54 million allocated for Nature-Based Solutions. This funding aims to restore ecosystems while providing co-benefits associated with climate resilience and biodiversity. Projects focused on climate change impacts, beach maintenance, and habitat restoration with an educational element are encouraged. The program aims to serve underrepresented communities, ensuring a diverse geographical reach across California, thus promoting environmental awareness and coastal conservation.

GFO-25-607 - Clean Transportation Program Hydrogen Infrastructure Project Opportunity (HIPO)

The purpose of this solicitation is to fund the deployment of hydrogen refueling infrastructure for light-, medium-, and/or heavy-duty on-road fuel cell electric vehicles.

This is a competitive grant solicitation. The California Energy Commission’s (CEC’s) Clean Transportation Program announces the availability of up to $45 million in grant funds for projects that will fund the deployment of hydrogen refueling infrastructure for light-, medium-, and/or heavy-duty on-road fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs). 

Of the $45 million, up to $21.2 million is dedicated to light-duty hydrogen refueling infrastructure and up to $23.8 million is dedicated to light-, medium-, and/or heavy-duty hydrogen refueling infrastructure.  

The solicitation objectives are to:

• Deploy new hydrogen refueling infrastructure for light-duty (LD) vehicles, with an emphasis on stations located in Santa Monica/West Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, and San Diego to alleviate market stress due to station demand, as well as medium-duty (MD) vehicles, or for heavy-duty (HD) uses including drayage, transit, and port operations. New hydrogen refueling infrastructure can also be a combination of the infrastructure types (mixed-use) listed above.
• Reopen temporarily non-operational (TNO) stations that would otherwise not return to open retail status.
• Provide additional funding for stations awarded under CEC Grant Funding Opportunity (GFO)-19-602 which are fully permitted and lacking capital to finish construction.
• Provide operations and maintenance (O&M) funding for the projects listed above once the station becomes open retail.

• Be students who have entered or have been accepted into their fifth year of full-time schooling at a public university in California with the goal of achieving a teaching credential in the state of California

About the Pacific Northwest Kiwanis Foundation

Through Helping Hands Fellowships, memorial gifts, and bequests, the Foundation provides a variety of ways to leave a lasting legacy for the children and youth of the Pacific Northwest.

Our Purpose

PNW Kiwanis Foundation New Club Opening Mini Grant

The PNW Kiwanis Foundation will provide a $500 mini grant to new clubs to help kick start their charitable giving. Clubs are required to provide us with a “bragging-rights” status report and pictures of how these monies were used after completion of their project.

Purpose

Grants provide limited opportunities for Kiwanis clubs to receive financial assistance with a key project benefiting children or youth in their community. Funded projects may also provide an opportunity to generate exposure for the Foundation and its activities.

Grants must be in keeping with the purpose of the Foundation, which generally is to support children and youth in the Pacific Northwest. Projects that fall outside the Pacific Northwest may be quite worthy of support but would not qualify for a grant from the Foundation.

Club Support

The Foundation does not want to support a project that is not supported by the local Kiwanis club. That is why all grant requests must be accompanied by a letter of support from the Kiwanis club.

The Division of Boating and Waterways Local Assistance Statewide Sign Grant Program FY26 offers funding for the installation and replacement of signs for previously funded projects. Wendy Rankin Memorial Scholarship Fund

Be current high school seniors or current college students who plan to enroll at an accredited community college, four-year college, graduate school, or licensed career/technical school in California.

The Harold McAlister Charitable Foundation Grant supports public charities focused on healthcare, education, social services, animal welfare, arts and culture, and environmental initiatives. The Local Partnership Program – Competitive (CA) aims to fund counties, cities, districts, and regional transportation agencies that have voter-approved fees or taxes for transportation improvements. With a maximum funding request of $25,000,000 per project, this program aligns with SB 1 to address California's highest transportation needs while ensuring a fair distribution of economic impacts from increased funding.

The Reusable Beverage Containers Infrastructure Grant Program, offered by CalRecycle, aims to fund infrastructure and start-up costs for a deposit-return system for glass reusable containers in California. This initiative, established under AB 179, seeks to enhance the Beverage Container Recycling Program and promote a circular economy by establishing a processing stream for reusable glass containers. Eligible projects include equipment, technology, and training necessary for implementing this sustainable system.

The Solutions for Congested Corridors Program (SCCP) offers $250 million annually in funding to enhance transportation, environmental, and community access improvements aimed at reducing congestion in California. Created by the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, this competitive program invites regional agencies to propose projects that align with comprehensive corridor plans, focusing on safety, accessibility, and environmental benefits while fostering collaboration with local partners.
