Best Capacity Building Grants for Nonprofits

Many Hands Grants has awarded over $2.5 million since 2004 to support local nonprofits focused on women, children, and families in need throughout the Washington, DC area. The Carl W. & Carrie Mae Joslyn Trust Grant supports charitable organizations that benefit youth, elderly, and handicapped individuals in El Paso County, Colorado. This private foundation, administered by JPMorgan, focuses on various program areas including animal welfare, arts and culture, education, and health services. Eligible organizations must be located within the Pasadena Unified School District and have a record of effective service. The WCF Community Grant Program supports capital projects for small nonprofits in the Flathead Valley, enhancing community welfare. Prioritizing initiatives that demonstrate social need, this funding can help organizations gain recognition and possibly participate in the Great Fish Community Challenge. The Clean Mobility Program (PON 5739) by NYSERDA aims to support communities in New York State by funding innovative zero-emission transportation projects. Kansas Arts Commision (KAC)| Arts Everywhere

Enhancing student success, the economy and Kansas communities through the arts

The Arts Everywhere grant program provides funding for cultural projects, programs, exhibitions, series, arts education projects, and other arts programming. This program provides funding for educational institutions, arts organizations, and community service non-profits to use the arts to increase student success, foster creative thinking, develop critical job skills, enhance community development, and increase participation in the arts across Kansas. Projects must relate to an arts and culture discipline (music, dance, theatre, creative writing, literature, painting, sculpture, folk arts, photography, crafts, media arts, visual arts, programs of museums, and other such allied, major art forms).

Match Requirements: KAC requires that all grants are matched at a minimum of 1:1 through a combination of cash and in-kind expenses.

Arts Everywhere grants are awarded in four categories:

• Arts in Education;
• Organizational Development: a) Capacity Building; b) Salary Assistance
• Specific Arts and Culture Projects; and
• Visiting Artists

Visiting Artists

This program provides funding for eligible organizations to engage and deepen the impact of arts programming on local and underserved audiences through exposure to and interaction with professional visiting arts. Presenters may book artists in any discipline, not just in performing arts.

The Extension Risk Management Education (ERME) Competitive Grants focus on underutilization of crop insurance projects to enhance agricultural producers' economic viability. This initiative, backed by the Northeast ERME Center and others, provides funding to deliver education in various risk management areas. Grants up to $100,000 are available for projects running from April 2026 to September 2027, with plans to support 7-10 new projects based on quality applications and funding availability.

The Tobacco Valley Community Foundation (TVCF) offers grants to support local organizations in the Tobacco Valley region, including West Kootenai, Eureka, Rexford, Trego, Fortine, and Stryker. Their mission is to enhance community resources, promote equality, and ensure that residents can actively participate in shaping their futures. By investing in arts, culture, and essential services, TVCF aims to preserve the unique qualities of the area for generations to come.

The 2026 Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise in Biomedical Science will award three $50,000 prizes to exceptional young immigrant scientists in the U.S. This prestigious prize recognizes innovative research contributions in biomedical science. Eligible candidates must be under 38 years old, hold a doctoral degree, and have made significant achievements in their field. The Vilcek Foundation aims to highlight the impact of immigrant scientists on the advancement of biomedical research, fostering diversity and excellence.

The Climate Smart Communities Grant Program in New York provides municipalities with funding to combat climate change through greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation and adaptation projects. With at least $22 million available, eligible projects range from GHG reduction initiatives to climate adaptation strategies. The program also supports certification efforts for communities striving to achieve Climate Smart Community status. By fostering innovative local solutions, this grant aims to enhance resilience against climate-related challenges.

The James A. & Faith Knight Foundation Grant supports nonprofit organizations in Jackson and Washtenaw Counties, Michigan. The foundation values sound financial management, governance practices, and a clear mission, with a focus on gender, diversity, and outcomes. Key funding priorities include general operating support, environmental sustainability, and initiatives benefiting women and girls. The Green Innovation Grant Program (GIGP) in New York State provides funding for projects that enhance water quality and combat climate change through innovative green technologies. Grants cover up to 90% of construction costs, promoting practices such as green stormwater infrastructure and energy efficiency. Projects are evaluated on their potential impact, sustainability, and ability to foster collaboration. The Thomas C. Ackerman Foundation Grant supports K-12 educational programs in San Diego, focusing on mathematics, sciences, arts, and music. Organizations eligible for funding must have operated for over a year without prior funding from the Foundation in the last 24 months. The Siemer Family Foundation Grant Program focuses on enhancing educational opportunities and literacy for children in central Ohio. It supports initiatives that prepare young children for school, improve overall academic achievement, and assist underprivileged families in achieving stability. Guided by Barbara Siemer, the foundation emphasizes programs that foster parental involvement and community engagement to ensure a brighter future for children and families.

Rotary Club of Dubois County: Community Grants

The Rotary Club of Dubois County is an active social and service club comprised of dynamic and diverse professionals who make a lasting difference in our community and around the world.

Annually the Club raises funds that are put back into the community through a grant process. The grant is awarded to an organization/ project that aligns with the Rotary seven areas of focus and who provide an opportunity for Rotary Club members to participate and be active in the implementation. Rotary’s seven areas of focus include:

• Basic Education and Literacy;
• Maternal and Child Health;
• Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution;
• Disease Prevention and Treatment;

Every Kindness is a Gift

Dollar Tree Gift Card Program 2026

Every Kindness is a Gift is a gift card grant program made possible through the generosity of Dollar Tree and managed by the team here at Gift Card Bank. We are a nonprofit organization that specializes in the distribution of gift cards and our mission is to improve well-being and build financial stability by supporting people through their time of need.

Through Every Kindness is a Gift, nonprofit organizations and Title I schools located in the 48 contiguous states may apply to receive a grant of Dollar Tree gift cards.

Gift cards received through these grants are meant to be distributed directly to individuals and families in need. A primary goal of the program is to give gift card recipients the dignity of choice by empowering them to shop for what they need themselves. By putting gift cards directly in the hands of our neighbors in need, we are able to increase access to essentials like food, school supplies, paper products, cleaning products, and hygiene items.

In 2026, there will be two rounds of grant distributions. In each round, we will award a number of grants between $2,500 and $10,000.

Round One is a summer distribution. Gift cards awarded in Round One will arrive in late June, while kids are on break and back-to-school is around the corner. Round Two is a holiday distribution. Gift cards awarded in Round Two will arrive in early November, as the end-of-year holidays approach.

We know that these are times of year when budgets are tight. Through these gift card grants, we hope to connect individuals and families directly to the essential resources they need during difficult months.

The Community Fund for Carmel Valley (CFCV) provides grants to nonprofit organizations that support the communities of Carmel Valley, Cachagua, and Jamesburg. It aims to enhance community resources, focusing on community development, youth and senior programming, and educational initiatives. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations, public programs, and those with fiscal sponsors. Special consideration is given to local organizations addressing basic needs and emergency responses, ensuring sustainable community benefits.

The Stone Foundation Grants in Maine offer flexible and trust-based philanthropic support primarily focused on Monmouth County, New Jersey, and Wabanakiq, Maine. Grants range from $5,000 to $25,000, with first-time applicants typically considered for 1-year grants between $5,000 and $10,000. Eligible organizations include 501c3 nonprofits and community groups with a fiscal sponsor. The foundation encourages projects that address social inequities and foster community impact through innovative solutions.

The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation Grant supports organizations dedicated to preserving American exceptionalism through a commitment to individual liberty, free markets, and civic responsibility. It prioritizes proposals from 501(c)(3) organizations that promote informed citizenship and strong communities. With ongoing acceptance of Letters of Inquiry, the Foundation seeks to empower initiatives that align with its principles of limited government and the rule of law, fostering a rich community culture.

The Texas Education Agency is the state agency that oversees primary and secondary public education. It is headed by the commissioner of education. The Texas Education Agency improves outcomes for all public school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems.

Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is a federal K–12 education law. ESSA was signed into law in 2015, replacing No Child Left Behind, and reauthorizing the original Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), which was signed into law in 1965 by President Lyndon Baines Johnson.

ESSA requires every state to measure performance in reading, math, and science. Every school must inform parents about their standards and their results. 

ESSA requires every state to provide parents important information on test performance in reading, math, and science. The report cards must also provide data on graduation rates, suspensions, absenteeism, teacher qualifications, and many other areas. Texas provides maximum transparency for parents and publicly shares performance information on TXschools.gov and in data reports on the Performance Reporting pages.

Title I, Part D, Subpart 2 

Program Purpose, Goals, and Objectives

The purpose of Title I, Part D, Subpart 2, is to do the following:

• To carry out high-quality education programs to prepare children and youth for secondary school completion, training, employment, or further education;
• Provide children and youth with the services needed to make a successful transition from institutionalization to further education or employment; and
• To operate programs in local schools, including schools operated or funded by the Bureau of Indian Education for children and youth returning from correctional facilities and programs that may serve at-risk children and youth.

Intended beneficiaries are school systems with high numbers or percentages of children and youth residing in locally-operated (including county-operated) correctional facilities for children and youth. 

The Grace Bersted Foundation Grant supports quality educational, human services, and health care programs for underserved populations, particularly children and the disabled, in DuPage, Kane, Lake, and McHenry counties, Illinois. Established in 1986, it prioritizes organizations with local offices and typically funds grants for one year. Applicants are limited to one submission per calendar year to this and similar foundations, ensuring fair distribution of resources.

The Community Health Grant from the Nashoba Valley Health Care Fund aims to enhance the health of residents across twelve communities. This year's focus is on improving access to quality healthcare, including primary and preventive care and behavioral health services. Grants typically range from $5,000 to $20,000, with larger requests considered for impactful projects. The fund supports tax-exempt organizations committed to addressing community health challenges.

The Greater Milwaukee Foundation's GMF: Cycle 2 - Project Support initiative offers funding for projects that enhance early childhood education, mental health services, and workforce development in the Milwaukee area. With grants of up to $50,000 per year for three years, the foundation prioritizes applications that promote racial equity and support community-led initiatives. Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) nonprofits and governmental agencies, with a focus on creating equitable opportunities for all residents.
