Wichita County Jr. Livestock Association Stock Show Scholarship

The Wichita County Junior Livestock Association Stock Show (WCJLS) Scholarship was created at WFACF in 2013 to support higher education endeavors of graduating high school seniors who participated in the respective FFA programs of Wichita Falls ISD, Iowa Park CISD, Electra ISD, Burkburnett ISD, City View ISD, or the Wichita County 4-H program. There is (1) one-time $2,000 scholarship available for a recipient from each of the 6 programs; students who are in the FFA and 4-H programs must decide which one they want to apply under at the time of application. The award can be used at any college or vocational/trade program in the U.S. for any field of study. To be eligible, students must have a 2.5 GPA and have exhibited a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) for two consecutive years at the WCJLS. The top two candidates from each program will be interviewed by the scholarship committee and the award will be based 50/50 on application/interview.

Ms. Bonnie Whiteis opened the Whiteis Fine Arts and Agriculture Scholarship Fund in 2008 to benefit graduating seniors from Archer or Wichita County high schools. The Whiteis Scholarship can be used at any college or university in Texas in pursuit of an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts or Agriculture. The McCoy Scholarship Fund was opened in early 2002, making it one of our most tenured scholarship funds that is still active. Barnard-Kuichling-Acorn Society Scholarship

In 1932, $10,000 was bequeathed by the family of Ella Barnard to establish a scholarship fund for worthy young men and women to complete their education in college. Later, Sara Kuichling provided funds in memory of her husband, Emil, to provide education and training to students under age 24. More money was added later from the Acorn Society, founded in 1896 by Caroline Butts Stoddard. The combined funds were moved to the Community Foundation and now provide awards known as Barnard-Kuichling-Acorn Society Scholarships.

Purpose of Scholarship

  • To provide scholarships for high school graduates living in Monroe County who are in the top 10 percent of their class and have financial need.

2026-2027 Teach for America Grant

The purpose of this grant is to support proven models to increase the number of effective teachers in Texas classrooms.

The goal of the program is to increase the number of effective teachers and leaders in Texas public schools by funding TFA. As a proven model, TFA will use funds to increase and improve the teaching skills and practices of TFA corps members with an emphasis on those teaching Bilingual/ESL, science, math and economically disadvantaged elementary and secondary students. The participating corps members must serve students in the Rio Grande Valley, Houston, San Antonio, Greater Austin, and Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area schools. Professional development and training should increase student achievement in focus subject areas.

Program DescriptionThe purpose of IDEA-D funds is to provide technical assistance and dissemination to improve services and results for children who are deafblind. The purpose of this program is to promote academic achievement and improve results for children with disabilities by providing technical assistance and model demonstration projects, disseminating useful information, and implementing activities that are supported by scientifically based research. IDEA includes provisions designed to ensure that each child with a disability is provided a high-quality individual program of services to meet his or her developmental and educational needs. TEA is awarded funds through a five-year competitive grant program titled Technical Assistance to State Deafblind Projects, administered by the USDE, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) is preparing to submit a grant application under the Substance Abuse Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) funded Project AWARE (Advancing Wellness and Resilience in Education) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). This five-year grant opportunity is designed to strengthen school-based mental health systems and improve the relational and behavioral wellbeing of school-aged youth. 

GaDOE intends to submit a coordinated application that includes 3-4 eligible LEAs. Final participation and funding levels may be adjusted based on the strength and scope of responses to this Intent to Apply.GaDOE is applying for this funding on behalf of selected LEAs, and a funding award is not guaranteed. Selected LEAs that submit an Intent to Apply best aligned with the overall application will be notified and invited to complete the formal grant application process at that time.Each selected LEA may request up to $250,000/year for up to five years (total of $1.25 million).

Texas A&M Forest Service provides statewide leadership and technical assistance to ensure trees, forests and related natural resources are sustained for the benefit of all. The agency supports the state’s incident response capability, protecting against wildfire and responding to a range of all-hazard incidents. 

DOD Firefighter Property Program

The U.S. Department of Defense Firefighter Property Program provides excess military property to emergency service providers, with ownership of the equipment passed from the federal government to the recipient. Fire departments and other emergency response providers in the state of Texas may apply for assistance under the FFP Program.

Departments that received a 2.5-ton cargo, 5-ton cargo, or a tractor style DoD FFP truck on or after Sept. 1, 2015 may be eligible for a slip-on unit grant to assist in converting the truck into a fire apparatus. The FFP slip-on unit program element reimbursement rate is set at 100% of the actual cost, not to exceed $45,000 in grant assistance. Receiving fire departments are responsible for other conversion costs required to bring the unit into service, which will serve as the department’s in-kind contribution.

Due to the high demand for vehicles and limited resources, there is not a standing inventory.
