The Federal Section 5310 grant program is intended to enhance mobility for seniors and persons with disabilities by providing funds for programs to serve the special needs of transit-dependent populations beyond traditional public transportation services.

INDOT does not provide funding to areas over 200,000 population (Lake/Porter counties, South Bend, Fort Wayne, Evansville, Indianapolis, Clark/Floyd counties) should contact their local Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). To achieve this, we seek proposals, projects, and efforts that:

• Expand access and options for quality Childcare to improve outcomes for families and businesses
• Build stability through access to quality, safe and affordable Housing
• Expand Recreation options to promote health, connections, and a high quality of life
• Build skills and knowledge through Professional Development to enhance and advance careers

People

We aim for Strong Youth, Empowered Adults, and Stable Seniors in Jefferson County with the following outcomes if achieved:

• Kids that have a strong foundation and build resilience
• Adults that are healthy, educated, and productive citizens
• Seniors that are independent and Grow Old with Love and Dignity (GOLD)

To achieve this, we seek proposals, projects, and efforts that:

• Build Mental Health resilience and healing through holistic and preventative approaches
• Bridge distances by increasing options and access to Transportation
• Grow Social Services that strengthen and empower individuals and families

BLF uses an open application process to collect and review project ideas that align with BLF Focus Areas There are three types of applications: Long Application; Short Application; and Capacity Building Application.

BLF Grants: Short Application

• For requests of $50,000 or less in total funding, including multi-year requests
• Projects must support BLF Pillars and Focus Areas to be consider for funding
• Only one application form is submitted for review
• Approx 6-week process starting from application submission

The Central Indiana Senior Fund Grant aims to enhance the quality of life for low-to-moderate-income seniors in Central Indiana. Established in 2005, the fund has contributed over $12.3 million to support various senior-focused programs. With an emphasis on basic needs, health and wellness, and life-affirming opportunities, the fund strives to address the unique challenges faced by underserved seniors, ensuring they have access to essential resources and services.

The True Inspiration Awards, established by Chick-fil-A in 2015, recognizes nonprofit organizations that significantly impact their communities. In 2025, the program will distribute $6 million in grants, ranging from $30,000 to $350,000, to sixteen selected organizations. Categories include Caring for People, Caring through Food, Community, and Caring for our Planet, with a focus on educational initiatives, food security, housing services, and environmental stewardship, honoring the legacy of founder S. Truett Cathy.

The Milton Charitable Trust Foundation Grant aims to support senior housing needs in South Bend, Indiana, promoting health, dignity, independence, and quality of life for the aging population. Established by Robert P. and Clara I. Milton, the foundation continues their legacy by providing annual grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) exempt and focus on enhancing the lives of seniors in the community.

The Community Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County (CFMJC) supports grant-making to organizations that benefit Jefferson County residents. Since 1991, it has funded diverse causes such as education, health, and welfare. CFMJC prioritizes projects that demonstrate preventative measures and collaboration among organizations while ensuring legal compliance. Grants are not available for political activities or sectarian purposes. This initiative encourages impactful contributions from generous donors to enhance community well-being.

The Foundations of East Chicago provides annual program grants to support initiatives that enhance education, health, safety, and community enrichment. Eligible applicants must be recognized 501(c)(3) agencies in good standing. The grants focus on measurable outcomes and operational plans, prioritizing educational advancement, health awareness, and community safety. Notably, FEC does not fund speaker fees, conferences, landscaping, or general operational costs. This initiative aims to improve the quality of life in East Chicago by supporting impactful community programs.
