Charitable Contributions

Costco Wholesale’s primary charitable efforts specifically focus on programs supporting children, education, and health and human services in the communities where we do business. Throughout the year we receive a large number of requests from nonprofit organizations striving to make a positive impact, and we are thankful to be able to provide support to a variety of organizations and causes. While we would like to respond favorably to all requests, understandably, the needs are far greater than our allocated resources and we are unable to accommodate them all.

Grant Applications

If the request is under consideration, you may be contacted by staff for any additional information needed. Applications are reviewed within 4-6 weeks, and decisions are made based on several factors, including: type of program; identified community need not otherwise available; indication that evidenced based data will establish measurable results of intended outcomes; community collaboration; broad base of financial support; project budget and operating expenses.

The Creag Foundation is a private grant making foundation established in 2009 in Woodinville, Washington.

The founders of the Creag Foundation believe that meaningful change can only be achieved through hard work, creativity and passion. They also understand the practical mechanisms that allow charitable organizations to succeed and grow. Reducing the Burden of Cancer

The American Cancer Society states that one in two men and one in three women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. These cancer diagnoses often create both a health and financial crisis for patients and their families. Studies show factors including race/ethnicity, health insurance status and income can affect the timing of a patient’s diagnosis and treatment, as well as their survival and financial impact. Working with our partners, we aim to reduce the risk of getting cancer and address socioeconomic barriers to care.

Preparing Tomorrow's Healthcare Workforce

• Patients report that they feel more heard and are more compliant with medical guidance when they share race/ethnicity with their healthcare practitioner. Nearly a third of the U.S. population is Black or Hispanic, yet the combined Black and Hispanic representation among oncologists is 8 percent and the combined Black, Indigenous and Hispanic representation among pharmacists is 10.7 percent. Closing the gap between diverse representation among the general population and among healthcare practitioners will improve health equity and patient outcomes.

Accelerating Crisis Response

With the increased frequency and intensity of climate events, more people across North America need temporary or extended shelter, as well as food and medications, during and in the aftermath of crises. And with 10 percent of the population in both Canada and the U.S. living in food insecure households, programs to provide regular, nutritious meals to children, families and seniors can reduce chronic disease and improve long-term health.

PNC Foundation

Strengthening and enriching the lives of our neighbors in communities where we live and work.

Vision & Mission

For decades, we have provided resources to seed ideas, foster development initiatives and encourage leadership in nonprofit organizations where imagination and determination are at work enhancing people's lives everyday.

The PNC Foundation's priority is to form partnerships with community-based nonprofit organizations in order to enhance educational opportunities, with an emphasis on early childhood education, and to promote the growth of communities through economic development initiatives.

Foundation Grant

The PNC Foundation supports a variety of nonprofit organizations with a special emphasis on those that work to achieve sustainability and touch a diverse population, in particular, those that support early childhood education and/or economic development.

Education

The PNC Foundation supports educational programs for children and youth, particularly early childhood education initiatives that meet the criteria established through PNC Grow Up Great. Specifically, PNC Grow Up Great grants must:

• Support early education initiatives that benefit children from birth to age five; and
• Serve a majority of children (>50%) from low- to moderate-income families; and
• Adhere to all other standard PNC Foundation guidelines, as outlined on the PNC Foundation website, applicant eligibility quiz, as well as the Foundation policies and procedures; and
• Include one or a combination of the following:
  • direct services/programs for children in their classroom or community;
  • professional development/workforce development for early childhood educators;
  • family and/or community engagement in children’s early learning
• Additional considerations:
  • The grant focus should include math, science, reading, vocabulary development, the arts, financial education, or social/emotional development.
  • The grant recipient, or collaborative partner, should have early childhood education as an area of focus. If the organization’s focus is beyond birth to age five, the specific grant must be earmarked for birth to age five.
  • Incorporate opportunities for PNC volunteers in classroom or non-classroom-based activities.

Economic Development

Economic development organizations, including those which enhance the quality of life through neighborhood revitalization, cultural enrichment and human services are given support. Priority is given to community development initiatives that strategically promote the growth of low-and moderate-income communities and/or provide services to these communities.

  • The PNC Foundation understands the critical need for affordable housing for low-and moderate-income individuals.
  • We are committed to providing support to nonprofit organizations that:
    • give counseling and services to help these individuals maintain their housing stock;

  • Because small businesses are often critical components of community growth and help foster business development, the PNC Foundation provides support to nonprofit organizations that

The Marian Foundation

The Marian Foundation is a charitable trust which was established with the purpose of aiding and supporting area service organizations for educational, scientific, religious, and charitable programs through grants funded by 100% tax deductible contributions.

With the help of Mary, the Mother of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, We vow to financially support charitable causes for the benefit of those in need.

About Us

The Marian Foundation was formed in 1954 by Reverend Raymond Bauschard, founder and initial pastor of Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Columbus, Ohio. The Marian Foundation was founded with seven board members and is currently administered by a board of trustees consisting of no fewer than 13 members. 

Father Bauschard's idea, which proved to be the catalyst for the foundation, was to target smaller qualified groups and special causes which would have a difficult time gaining financial support elsewhere. 

As a result of his vision, and through the generosity of Central Ohio donors, many poor, sick, homeless people, women with problem pregnancies, school children, food pantries, and a host of others have benefited from grants provided by the Marian Foundation.

Background

Provide financial and material resources to organizations that aim to re-purpose underused land to create, continue, or expand community gardens and greenspaces.

Central Ohio is a thriving hub for community gardening and urban agriculture. The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation, The City of Columbus, and Franklin County utilize a single application and review process to maximize funding and material resources to gardens and to provide financial and material resources to re-purpose underused land and to create, continue, or expand community gardens and greenspaces to:

• Increase healthy, affordable, and local food access and education, particularly for people in under-resourced neighborhoods;
• Connect individuals to the life-enhancing benefits of community gardens and greenspaces, including health and wellness, environmental, community building, and beautification.

Nonprofit gardening efforts may apply for funding (up to $3,000) and in-kind product donations (up to $300 from The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company) on a yearly basis.

Mission

Our mission is to help underserved individuals move toward self-sufficiency as well as to provide opportunities for enrichment in the communities we serve.

How and Why Giving Back to Communities is Important to O’Reilly

From O’Reilly Auto Parts’ inception, O’Reilly co-founder C.H. “Chub” O’Reilly instilled the culture of maintaining high standards for every endeavor, including the area of building civic pride. With Chub’s good example to guide them, all four of his children adopted a business and family philosophy of “giving back” to the community as the Company grew and prospered. Supporting a large number of charitable organizations in all communities in which we operate has long been a focal point for O’Reilly Auto Parts. In order to make an even greater impact, the O’Reilly Automotive Foundation was established in 2020.

The O’Reilly Automotive Foundation complements O’Reilly Auto Parts’ role as the Friendliest Parts Store in Town. The O’Reilly Automotive Foundation strives to have a lasting, positive impact in the communities where O’Reilly Auto Parts’ team members and customers live and work by supporting organizations and programs which address issues critical to improving the quality of life for underserved and underrepresented individuals and families. Application Requirements

We will consider three principal types of grants:

Project Support Grants support specific projects or programs aligned with our mission. These requests may include some funds earmarked for the overhead costs associated with running a project.

General Operating Support Grants provide limited general operating support for the core operations or organizations whose missions and activities are aligned with our mission. These grants will often help the grantee build organizational, programmatic, and fundraising capacity. Operating support is not intended to help organizations in fiscal crisis. Applicants must have a current strategic or business plan that clearly outlines the organization’s goals and presents a plan for achieving results. Operating support grants must not exceed 15% of an organization’s total agency budget.

Capital Support Grants provide limited support for capital campaigns to fund the acquisition and construction of facilities, existing property renovation, or the purchase of major equipment. The program has a comprehensive approach to funding capital initiatives, which also includes funding for increased program capacity. A feasibility study may be required for capital initiatives to be considered.

Targeted Funds

Targeted Fund categories are based on the interests of donors who have established funds to support a variety of focus areas. Based on the available grant dollars each year, the majority of the grants awarded will be $1,000 to $10,000. The largest possible grant awarded is $25,000.

• Conservation and Environment

Enhance the quality of life in central Ohio by supporting responsible use of natural resources and ensuring their availability for future generations.

Many nonprofit organizations are working to make our community a smarter, healthier, cleaner, and more eco-friendly place in an effort to protect the Earth’s environment. Originally established in 2011 by a committed group of donors, The Columbus Foundation’s Green Funds seek to support these organizations, foster dialogue around conservation issues, and facilitate projects that will make an impact in central Ohio today and in the future.        

The Green Funds advisory committee provides input on The Columbus Foundation's targeted grantmaking in environmental conservation and education. Additionally, in partnership with the Foundation, the Green Funds provide a $6,700 stipend for a qualifying student to work with a central Ohio environmental or conservation nonprofit for 10 weeks during the summer. Past fellowship sites include Broad Street Presbyterian Church, Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed (FLOW), Green Columbus, and Ohio Environmental Council.

Formed in 1991 as a donor-advised fund, the CRF now operates as its own nonprofit public charity, investing over $600,000 in the community since 2008, emerging as one of the strongest local REALTOR® Foundations in the country.

As strong advocates of affordable housing in healthy communities, the CRF and its donors seek to be an influential partner for local nonprofit and government housing entities.

Community Grants

Charitable organizations across central Ohio have received funding from the Columbus REALTORS® Foundation for projects that help the homeless, repair the homes of low-income families, and much more.

The Reinberger Foundation was established by Mr. and Mrs. Reinberger in 1966. Mr. Reinberger left a substantial bequest to the Foundation at his death in 1968.

Our mission is “to help individuals move toward self-sufficiency as well as provide opportunities for enrichment in the communities we serve.” We are looking to provide support to organizations and programs that will further this mission.

Gupta Family Foundation is a private, nonprofit foundation headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, USA. Our mission is to support organizations that provide focused intervention in the lives of people who have been disadvantaged in some way to help them become self-reliant. We take a very broad view of “disadvantage” to include anything that holds a person back from realizing their potential, such as poverty, physical or mental disability, social alienation, etc. The foundation also supports relief agencies that serve people affected by emergencies such as natural disasters.

The foundation evaluates and awards annual and multi-year grants ranging from $5,000 to over $250,000 (USD). Our focus is on funding smaller organizations all around the world that are led by individuals with a deep personal commitment to their missions. 

Our selection criteria include:

• Mission alignment
• The organization is run by the founder or, if not, by a successor who embodies the original inspiration, passion and commitment of the founder.
• At least 90% of grant monies reaches the intended beneficiaries.
• The organization is non-sectarian, i.e.,
  • It does not, directly or indirectly, support or condone the proselytization of any religion,
  • It is not supported by or affiliated to a religious organization.

Columbus Audubon sponsors a Conservation Grant program to support conservation projects and research in Columbus and central Ohio. Since its start in 2013, our Conservation Grants program has awarded well over $20,000 in grants.

Conservation of birds, other wildlife, and their habitats has been a vital part of the mission of Columbus Audubon for over 100 years. In this spirit, Columbus Audubon offers a conservation grant program to support the conservation of Ohio’s native bird species. Columbus Audubon offers the Conservation Grant Program to support the conservation of Ohio’s native bird species through habitat management efforts, habitat protection (through easements or acquisition) and scientific research.

Conservation Grant Program

Columbus Audubon offers the Conservation Grant Program to support the conservation of Ohio’s native bird species through habitat management efforts, habitat protection (through easements or acquisition) and scientific research which occurs in central Ohio. 

The initiative is aimed at helping people to make bird-friendly lifestyle choices in their homes, backyards, and communities, including:

• Native Plants for Birds: By simply choosing native plants when we landscape our yards, neighborhood parks, and
• public spaces, we can help restore vital habitat for birds in our communities. 
• Lights Out: Creating Safe Passage: Cities across the flyways are turning off their lights at night, reducing the disorienting effect of light pollution, thereby saving millions of birds each year, including Magnolia Warblers, American Woodcocks, and Yellow-billed Cuckoos. Efforts to reduce reflective surfaces by applying films to existing glass, or by using bird-safe glass in new construction further reduces the number of bird collisions at both commercial and residential buildings.
• Avian Architecture: Providing Good Homes for Birds: From Prothonotary Warblers and Chimney Swifts to Osprey and Eastern Screech-Owls, many species of birds can be given a better chance to survive and thrive through a little assistance from structures we build—birdhouses, roosting towers, and nest platforms. For some species, these structures tip the scales back in their favor, reducing declines in populations and restoring species to places they once inhabited.
