The Kahiau Scholarship Fund, established in 2007, aims to support students in Hawaii by providing scholarships based on financial need and academic performance. Eligible candidates must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 and demonstrate community involvement related to the spirit of kahiau, meaning generous giving without expectation. Preference is given to previous recipients who continue to meet eligibility requirements. This fund fosters educational opportunities and community spirit among Hawaii's youth.

Our Scholarships

The Community Foundation of Wabash County offers a wide variety of post-secondary education scholarships to traditional, non-traditional, and graduate students. With nearly 70 different scholarship endowments created through the generosity of our donors, many students are eligible to apply.  

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship

Lilly Endowment created the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program for the 1998-1999 school year and has supported the program every year since with tuition grants totaling in excess of $439 million. More than 5,000 Indiana students have received the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship since the program’s inception.

The primary purposes of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program are: 1) to help raise the level of educational attainment in Indiana; 2) to increase awareness of the beneficial roles Indiana community foundations can play in their communities; and 3) to encourage and support the efforts of current and past Lilly Endowment Community Scholars to engage with each other and with Indiana business, governmental, educational, nonprofit and civic leaders to improve the quality of life in Indiana generally and in local communities throughout the state.

The Allamakee County Community Foundation Grants support community-driven projects within Allamakee County, Iowa. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations, schools, and municipalities, with grants available up to $20,000. The foundation prioritizes funding for community development, education, and promotions. However, grants are not available for projects outside Allamakee County, operating support, or for individuals. Projects must align with the foundation's mission to enhance the community's well-being.

The PA Local Share Account (LSA) Grant, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, aims to enhance community well-being through projects that improve the quality of life. Established under the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, this grant allocates 2% of gross terminal revenues from licensed gaming facilities to support local initiatives. It fosters economic development and resilience within Luzerne County, ensuring that the benefits of gaming positively impact the community.

The Putnam County Community Foundation (PCCF) administers more than 40 scholarship funds, each established by a generous donor with a unique purpose. Many of these scholarships are named in honor or in memory of a loved one.

Alpha Gamma Delta Eta Alumnae Scholarship

To be eligible for the Alpha Gamma Delta Eta Alumnae Scholarship award a candidate must be a sophomore or junior who will be enrolled as a junior or senior for the upcoming academic year at an accredited Indiana college or university.

Criteria

The following four criteria are used to evaluate candidates for the Alpha Gamma Delta Eta Alumnae Scholarship:

• Intellectual and social commitment
• Scholastic ability
• Extracurricular achievements;
• Ability to articulate a career plan that shows motivation, initiative and commitment.

The PA Local Share Account (LSA) – Category 4 Facilities Program supports projects that enhance the quality of life in Berks, Cumberland, Westmoreland, and York Counties. Funded by gaming revenues under the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act, this initiative aims to invest in community-driven projects that benefit residents and businesses alike, fostering a resilient and thriving local economy.

The Special Interest Grants for Veterans, administered by the Hampton Roads Community Foundation, provide funding up to $5,000 to nonprofit organizations supporting veterans, particularly those with disabilities. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations serving South Hampton Roads, including Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. Ineligible entities include individuals and organizations without tax-exempt status. This initiative aims to enhance the well-being of veterans in the community by funding impactful programs.

The Cape Royal Community Foundation (CRCF) Grant, established in 2002, aims to enhance the lives of Lee County residents through philanthropic efforts. With a focus on local humanitarian organizations and educational initiatives, the CRCF has allocated approximately $700,000 in grants and scholarships. Managed by dedicated volunteers, the foundation serves as a vital resource for community support, fostering generosity among residents and partners in the Lee County area.

The Cape Royal Community Foundation (CRCF) Scholarships are designed to support Lee County high school seniors who are members of their golf teams. Each scholarship awards $5,000, with three scholarships available for the Class of 2025. Applicants must demonstrate strong academic performance and involvement in school and community activities. This initiative underscores CRCF's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and community engagement, with a total of $15,000 in scholarships being awarded this year.

The Cheryl Wojtas Memorial Scholarship Program honors Cheryl Wojtas's commitment to education by offering scholarships to deserving graduates from Port Huron Area Schools and Gaylord Community Schools. Each recipient will receive a one-time award for their freshman year at a nonprofit post-secondary institution, aimed at supporting their educational journey. Financial need is a key consideration, and funds will cover tuition, fees, and essential expenses related to their studies.

The Detroit Economic Club Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students from Detroit and surrounding counties pursuing undergraduate education. Each year, two renewable scholarships of $2,000 are awarded to incoming college freshmen. Recipients can reapply for up to three additional years. The program is supported by the Detroit Economic Club Education Endowment Fund, dedicated to helping local students achieve their educational goals. Since awarding our first $500 scholarship in 1987, the Saginaw Community Foundation has awarded college scholarships to area students totaling more than $13.7 million, thanks to our generous donors. Each year, over 500 college-bound or career and technical education students benefit from our scholarship awards.

The Gene and Donna Mallak Memorial Scholarship was established by their daughter Jeanne in honor of the tremendous support they gave her to pursue her college dreams. Her hope is that this scholarship will provide the same support for those who receive this award to also pursue their dreams.

Scholarships for High School and College Students

Lawrence Spraragen Memorial Scholarship 

Established to the child or grandchild of a current, active member if IBEW Local 236 or the child or grandchild of the management or staff of a signatory contractor to IBEW Local 236.

The Southern Scholarship Foundation offers rent-free housing to students in Florida who demonstrate financial need, academic merit, and good character. This initiative supports students at various universities, encouraging a cooperative living environment, community events, and leadership development. With a commitment to transforming lives through education, the Foundation aims to empower students to thrive academically and personally. Applications are open until April 1, 2025, for Fall consideration and November 1, 2025, for Spring.

The SCF The Women's Fund Grant, established in 2006 by visionary women, aims to enhance the lives of women and children in Stark County. Through vital funding, it supports programs focused on economic stability, emotional health, and community engagement. The fund seeks to empower women as leaders in philanthropy while addressing the needs of underserved populations. Its strategic goals include building a sustainable endowment and promoting philanthropy across diverse backgrounds, ensuring lasting impact for future generations.

The Point Foundation Access Scholarship is dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ and ally students who come from backgrounds historically facing limited opportunities. This scholarship provides essential financial assistance and access to leadership development, empowering recipients to achieve their educational goals. Eligible candidates include those enrolled in accredited U.S. postsecondary institutions, ensuring they can utilize funds effectively during their academic journey. By fostering inclusivity, the Point Foundation aims to cultivate future leaders in various fields.

The WV Culture: Living Traditions grant provides funding up to $5,000 for eligible organizations in West Virginia, including 501(c)(3) nonprofits, schools, and local governments. This grant supports workshops and activities that promote folk and traditional arts, fostering community engagement and cultural heritage. However, it does not cover public education positions, fundraising activities, or non-arts related projects. Organizations are encouraged to apply for this opportunity to enhance cultural programming.

The Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund (SCSF) supports motivated individuals in need by providing financial assistance for education. Aimed at underserved youth and young adults, the SCSF helps cover tuition and related expenses, ensuring access to higher education. Eligible candidates include high school seniors, GED holders, and undergraduate students with a minimum GPA of 2.0. The program encourages community service, fostering a spirit of giving back among its scholars.

The Mequon-Thiensville Community Foundation offers event sponsorships aimed at enhancing local activities in Mequon and Thiensville. These sponsorships support one-time or recurring events by nonprofits or municipalities, providing promotional benefits for sponsors. Eligible applicants include organizations with a non-discrimination policy and those holding tax-exempt status, as well as recognized government entities and educational institutions. Applications are accepted year-round, promoting community engagement and brand awareness.

The Youth Impact Grant, administered by the Jackson Community Foundation's Youth Advisory Committee, aims to support youth-focused initiatives in Jackson County, Michigan. It provides funding to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and government entities that create positive impacts on local youth. This grant not only benefits the community but also empowers student volunteers by enhancing their leadership skills and philanthropic experience. Applications for projects that cater to youth needs are currently being accepted.

The Urology Care Foundation Bridge Award, supported by Dornier MedTech, aims to assist established urology researchers facing financial challenges. It provides up to $60,000 over a 12-month period to sustain vital urologic projects at risk due to funding gaps or setbacks. This unrestricted funding targets independent researchers who are no longer under formal mentorship, ensuring that those actively engaged in research receive timely support to maintain their competitiveness in the field.

The GM on Main Street Grant Program, led by Main Street America, focuses on enhancing the safety and vibrancy of downtowns through innovative road safety and traffic calming projects. Funded by General Motors, this program seeks transformative ideas that promote pedestrian safety and accessibility, making downtown areas more inviting for residents and visitors. Eligible applicants include non-profits and local governments in designated counties, with a strong emphasis on projects that are inclusive, feasible, and easily replicable.

WV Culture: Arts in Education - Mini-Grants

What is an Arts in Education Mini-Grant? The Arts in Education Mini-Grant program is a funding opportunity of the West Virginia Commission on the Arts (WVCA) providing direct support to projects that present West Virginia artists in performances, workshops, and other arts education experiences serving PK-12 students.

The Kott Gerontology Scholars Program, established by the Russell & Josephine Kott Memorial Charitable Trust, provides funding to advanced degree students in the field of aging attending Chicagoland universities. This initiative aims to enhance opportunities and quality of life for older adults through educational internships and skill development. Scholars receive a $10,000 scholarship, gaining hands-on experience by completing a 600-hour internship, fostering a pipeline of professionals committed to supporting the senior community.
