Each year, Cumberland Community Foundation announces more than $1,000,000 in college scholarships to students from southeastern North Carolina.

Organization of Korean-American Women of NC Scholarship

Currently enrolled in a NC college, university or community college, taking a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester.

The William E. Barto Scholarship Fund, established in 1995, honors the legacy of William E. Barto, a former Navy serviceman and artist. This fund provides $4,000 annually for up to four years, supporting students pursuing a degree in the Arts. Eligible applicants must be graduates from select high schools in northeastern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and demonstrate financial need. The fund is managed by Boreal Waters Community Foundation.

The Michigan Competitive Scholarship supports undergraduate students pursuing their first degree, focusing on financial need and merit. To qualify, applicants must achieve a minimum SAT score of 1200 and file the FAFSA by July 1. Eligible institutions include public universities and non-profit colleges in Michigan. This scholarship aims to increase access to higher education for residents while ensuring students meet specific eligibility criteria, including citizenship and enrollment status.

The Joanna Cornerstone Ministries Scholarship Fund, established by Joanna Cornerstone Ministries, focuses on supporting high school seniors from Cherokee, Clay, or Graham counties in North Carolina. Eligible applicants must be legal residents planning to attend an accredited college or vocational school full-time. Preference is given to students demonstrating financial need. This initiative is part of the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina's broader commitment to fostering educational opportunities in the region.

The Asheville Wilbert Vault Service Scholarship, established by The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, offers financial aid to residents pursuing a career in funeral services. This scholarship is aimed at individuals from the 18 westernmost counties of North Carolina, including the Qualla Boundary. Eligible applicants must be seniors in secondary school or graduates and can apply funds to any relevant post-high school educational program. The Asheville Young Woman Leadership Award, established by Dr. Andrea Gravatt, honors exceptional high school junior women in Buncombe County who exhibit remarkable leadership and community involvement. Funded by local women, this annual award aims to acknowledge these young leaders' achievements while inspiring future contributions to their communities. Recipients can utilize the funds for accredited post-high school education or enrichment programs, fostering a new generation of empowered female leaders.

The Donna W. Adams Scholarship Program, established by the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, honors the legacy of a dedicated Master Gardener and Detroit resident. This scholarship supports local students, reflecting the Adams' commitment to education and their beloved Indian Village neighborhood. The program aims to empower the next generation by providing financial assistance to those pursuing higher education, thereby enriching the community they cherished.

The George G. Johnson Scholarship Fund, established in 2021, aims to support African American male undergraduates at Wayne State University's Mike Illitch School of Business who are pursuing degrees in accounting or finance. Funded by Mr. George Johnson, an esteemed alumnus and successful entrepreneur, this scholarship reflects a commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and fostering diversity within the field. It stands as a testament to Mr. Johnson's legacy and dedication to empowering future leaders.

The WNC Regional Scholarships, established by The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, provide vital financial assistance to graduating seniors from public high schools and registered home schools across 18 counties in Western North Carolina. With a focus on supporting students facing the rising costs of higher education, these scholarships are designed to empower local youth to pursue their academic goals and reach their full potential. Various funds within this initiative cater to distinct community needs.

The Black Hawk Excellence in Education Fund, part of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, enhances educational programming beyond the Belmont school district budget. It addresses state funding cuts, empowering teachers and students to innovate in teaching and learning. By investing in this fund, donors support quality education and ensure resources for programs typically not covered by tax dollars, benefiting current and future generations in Southern Wisconsin.

Ryan White Dental RFA

The Ryan White Part A Program at Public Health – Seattle & King County (PHSKC) funds the Lifelong Dental Program (LDP). LDP is a comprehensive oral health access program whose aim is to support low-income HIV-positive individuals living in King, Snohomish, and Island counties with access to oral health care services. The program covers the costs of dental procedures that are deemed medically necessary and time sensitive by participating dental providers and clinics.

Specific coverage limits for this particular Work are:

Commercial General Liability, to include Products and Completed Operations, in the amount of $1,000,000 combined single limit; $2,000,000 aggregate

Workers' Compensation and Stop-Gap Employer's Liability for a limit of $1,000,000

Professional Liability coverage of at least $1,000,000

Automobile Liability: If driving as part of the Scope of Work $1,000,000 combined single limit per accident for bodily injury and property damage. In the event that services delivered pursuant to this Contract involve the transportation of clients by Contractor personnel in Contractor-owned vehicles or non-owned vehicles, the limit  shall be no less than $3,000,000 combined single limit per accident for bodily injury and property damage.

Through this Request for Applications (RFA), PHSKC’s Ryan White Part A (RWPA) Program is seeking applications from dental providers/dental clinics interested in providing oral health services to low-income people living with HIV in the Seattle Transitional Grant Area (TGA) of King, Snohomish, and Island counties. PHSKC seeks to fund and contract with a varied group of providers capable of serving diverse communities and geographic areas within the TGA.

The dollar amount is based on the number of patients the provider’s practice can serve, provider specializations, location, and other factors. Providers will have this set amount of funds to use towards the oral health needs of LDP patients during the contract year.

The Duesler, Charles and Bernard Scholarship Fund offers a $2,000 scholarship for Central Noble High School seniors or graduates planning to attend Purdue University in the fall. Preference is given to students entering agriculture, consumer and health services, veterinary, nursing, or pharmacy fields. Established by Charles Duesler to honor his brother Bernard and provide support to the community that nurtured his growth, this scholarship aims to assist deserving students in their educational pursuits.

4-H Club Foundation of Tripp County

This application qualifies members of the 4-H Club Foundation of Tripp County Scholarship and the Harold & Twila Zink Scholarship. The number and amount of the scholarship are based on applicants and merit.

To provide financial support to current and past students of the Tripp County area pursuing post-secondary education at a South Dakota institute with preference given to participants in Tripp County 4-H.

The Chattooga Club Scholarship, managed by the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, aims to support current Club employees in pursuing higher education amidst rising costs. Eligible applicants must be employed at the Club and either be high school seniors or graduates. This initiative enhances educational opportunities for dedicated employees, contributing to their academic and professional growth.

The Hillsboro Excellence in Education Fund, established in 2012, provides essential support for educational programming outside the Hillsboro School District's budget. Managed by a local advisory board, this fund enhances educational opportunities for students in the district. It serves as a critical resource, enabling innovative programming that isn't typically covered by tax dollars, thus investing in the future of Southern Wisconsin's youth.

The Women's Fund Success Grants, established by the Community Foundation of Central Illinois, aim to empower women and children in central Illinois. Since 1993, these grants have supported organizations that create impactful programs benefiting women and girls. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations and local government units, with a focus on initiatives that address community needs and promote equality. The fund does not support capital campaigns or sectarian purposes, ensuring resources are directed towards community service.

The IDHS/DBHR through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is seeking providers to provide prevention and outreach services to individuals and the general community around gambling disorder. Applicants with gambling disorder experience are preferred though all applicants will be considered. Applicants may apply for innovative outreach and/or prevention services including school-based prevention curriculums identified by IDHS/DBHR. In SFY27, the Department anticipates the availability of approximately $3,500,000 in total funding for applicant and any subgrantees. The grant period will begin July 1, 2026, and will end on June 30, 2027, with the option to renew for an additional two full years, if funding is available. The release of this NOFO does not obligate the Illinois Department of Human Services to make an award. Services may not be provided until a contract is fully executed by the Department.

• IDHS is working to counteract systemic racism and inequity, and to prioritize and maximize diversity throughout its service provision process. This work involves addressing existing institutionalized inequities, aiming to create transformation, and operationalizing equity and racial justice. It also focuses on the creation of a culture of inclusivity for all regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or ability.
• The IDHS/DBHR is seeking organizations with a history coordinating gambling disorder engagement and screening events though new organizations will be considered.

The goals, objectives and deliverables of this program are:

• The award will contribute to achieving the program's goals and objectives by ensuring the statewide provision of services that accomplish the deliverables noted below. Services will be designed to support and inform individuals with potential gambling problems, their friends/family members, and the general community.
• Organizations will provide for the production and publication, in electronic and other formats, of gambling prevention, recognition, treatment, and recovery literature and other public education methods.

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program aims to elevate educational attainment in Indiana by providing full-tuition scholarships to eligible high school graduates from each county served by community foundations. Launched in 1998, this initiative encourages engagement among scholars and local leaders to enhance community quality of life. By partnering with Independent Colleges of Indiana, the program aspires to support talented students in pursuing degrees at accredited institutions, fostering both personal and economic growth within the state.

The Fostering Futures Scholarship, administered by the Michigan Education Trust, offers financial assistance to former foster youth in Michigan who have experienced foster care after age 13. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate financial need, possess a high school diploma, and enroll at least half-time in a participating institution. This program aims to support the educational pursuits of students who have faced significant challenges, ensuring they have access to higher education opportunities.

The Mineral Point Excellence in Education Fund, established in 2016, is dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities within the Mineral Point School District. Managed by a local advisory board, this fund supports programming beyond the school's budget, ensuring students receive quality education. The Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin oversees this initiative, emphasizing community investment in education for future generations. Contributions to this fund empower innovative educational experiences that are not typically covered by tax dollars.

The Gene and Lee Meyer Scholarship, founded in 1993, aims to support deserving students from Graham, Jackson, Macon, Swain counties, and the Qualla Boundary in their pursuit of higher education. This scholarship provides essential financial assistance to well-rounded students who excel academically and demonstrate leadership potential. It prioritizes those in need and those transitioning out of foster care, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder their educational aspirations.

The Harry W. Clarke Award honors the legacy of Harry Wilson Clarke, a pivotal figure in educational advancement in Western North Carolina. Established in 1987, this scholarship supports graduating seniors from 29 counties, including the Qualla Boundary, who aspire to attend a four-year college in North Carolina. With a commitment to fostering local talent, the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina has awarded over $456 million in scholarships, reflecting its dedication to educational opportunities in the region.

Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi

The Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi manages 314 donor-established funds and has disbursed over $48 million to support more than 1,000 charitable organizations and activities recommended by its donors, as well as charitable programs established by the foundation. Established in 2002 with a generous grant from the Maddox Foundation, the Community Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 charitable organization. The Foundation serves Bolivar, Coahoma, DeSoto, Leflore, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tunica and Yalobusha counties. 

Shapoor Alexander Ghane Memorial Endowment

Shapoor Alexander Ghane was a Navy SEAL and to honor his memory this scholarship fund was established to benefit the children of Navy SEAL members who died in action. 

The Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant, offered by the Petfinder Foundation, provides financial support to adopters of senior pets or bonded pairs. This initiative aims to encourage the adoption of older pets by covering costs such as adoption fees and post-adoption expenses, including veterinary care and supplies. Grants, up to $1,000, are awarded monthly until funds are depleted, ensuring that senior pets find loving homes while alleviating some financial burdens for their new families.

Central Alabama Community Foundation

Established in 1987 by community leaders, the Central Alabama Community Foundation serves the River Region counties of Lowndes, Macon, and Montgomery. CACF was created to provide a permanent charitable resource dedicated to strengthening nonprofits and meeting local needs in the Montgomery area.

Through a variety of funds, CACF supports projects and programs in education, health, human services, cultural arts, recreation, historic preservation, and other civic concerns.

Every year, CACF awards grants to nonprofit projects and programs providing services in Lee, Macon, and Montgomery counties.

Kiwanis Club of Montgomery Scholarship

This renewable scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors in Montgomery County who are planning to attend an accredited college or university. Although there is no minimum ACT or SAT score, students must indicate by their academic performance the ability or motivation to graduate from college. Preference is given to students demonstrating financial need. Consideration is also given to students’ leadership, character, ability and participation in extracurricular activities. Scholarships will be awarded annually and are renewable for up to three years depending upon the student’s academic performance.

The OVAC Community/Artist Partnership Grant supports Oklahoma artists in creating visual art for public engagement and community projects. With funding up to $1500, eligible artists must be over 21, Oklahoma residents, and not currently enrolled in a BFA or MFA program. The grant evaluates applications based on artistic quality, community impact, and project feasibility, fostering collaboration between artists and the community to promote local visual arts.
