The NIH's Investigator-Focused Award (Parent R35) aims to support research programs for investigators at all career stages, including Early Stage Investigators. This funding provides stability and freedom in research, allowing for innovative and ambitious studies without the constant pressure of securing new grants. Key benefits include flexibility in research direction, opportunities to tackle significant questions, and a greater potential for scientific breakthroughs, fostering a robust research environment.

There are several grant opportunities available for CMF community foundation members through CMF’s Technology Grants: 

• Software Training: Support for software training of general ledger, donor or grants management systems
  • This option is limited to 50% of the total cost, with a maximum of $2,500 available per request. 
• Team-up Grants: This support could be used for group training or software development. 
  • Up to $5,000 in support is available for a group technology/software project that benefits at least three community foundations. 
• Transition Support: Support is available for key staff turnover or for a transition to a third-party accounting provider.
  • This support may be used to assist in the purchase, migration and or training costs related to these transitions. a maximum $5000 is available.
• Cybersecurity Audit: Support for community foundations with assets under $50 million is available to support the Digital Elevation Information Technology Security Assessment process.
  • Grant levels are as follows:
    • Assets of $1 - $10 million: $2,000
    • Assets over $10 - $25 million: $1,500
    • Assets over $25 - $50 million: $1,000

• Equipment Purchase: Support up to $2,500 for the purchase of equipment such as laptops, printers or other electronic devices (i.e. OWL cameras).
  • This option is limited to foundations with assets under $25 million and should be used for one-time purchases such as staff expansions or emergency replacements only.

The Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Grant Program, funded by Wild Ones, supports projects that foster an appreciation for nature through native plants and natural landscapes. Since 1977, it has empowered schools and nature centers to create educational gardens that engage students and volunteers. Eligible projects include pollinator and rain gardens, tallgrass prairies, and sensory playgrounds, all designed to enhance ecological understanding. Funding is specifically for the purchase of native plants and seeds, promoting sustainable community involvement.

The Burg-Coleman Iowa State 77 ACI Fellowship, offered by the ACI Foundation, supports graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in civil engineering focused on concrete structures or materials. Recipients receive a $10,000 stipend for educational expenses, recognition in Concrete International magazine, and coverage of travel costs for two ACI conventions. Open to international students attending institutions in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico, this fellowship fosters the next generation of leaders in the concrete industry.

The Saratoga Arts: Community Arts Grant, administered by Saratoga Arts since 1993, supports local arts initiatives in Saratoga, Fulton, and Montgomery Counties. With nearly $1.4 million awarded, this program fosters community engagement through artistic projects. Grants of $1,000 to $7,500 are available for projects that are open to the public, ensuring accessibility and direct interaction with art. This funding empowers artists and organizations to enhance cultural experiences in their communities.

The Arts Fund for East Tennessee Grant Program, established in 1986, supports artistic excellence and cultural diversity in East Tennessee. In 2024, it aims to sustain cultural traditions and encourage diverse artistic expressions. Grants ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 will be awarded for two-year terms starting July 1, 2024. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations and those with fiscal sponsors, focusing on outreach to underserved populations and grassroots art initiatives.

The AGC Education Foundation Scholarship supports full-time students pursuing construction-related degrees at accredited Washington State institutions. Established in 1980, this initiative aims to enhance the construction workforce through educational grants, scholarships, and workforce development programs, benefitting students at community colleges and universities. Eligibility includes a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a commitment to a construction career. Scholarships cover tuition and fees, excluding housing, with various awards available annually.

The ACSCC: Create Grants program offers funding for arts and cultural projects in Santa Cruz County, with grants up to $3,000. This initiative supports local artists and organizations, aiming to enhance community engagement in the arts, promote equitable access, and encourage the sustainability of artistic endeavors. Applications are accepted from both individual artists and nonprofit organizations, providing they meet specific eligibility criteria and project requirements.

The Support Grants program by the Arts Council Santa Cruz County provides essential funding to nonprofit arts organizations and artists in Santa Cruz County. With grants up to $7,000, the program aims to enhance artistic excellence, foster audience engagement, and improve equitable access to the arts. This initiative empowers diverse creative expressions while addressing social justice issues, ensuring that all artists can thrive and contribute to a vibrant community. Applications are accepted annually, welcoming first-time applicants.

The Ames Tools Grant, initiated by the National Garden Club, Inc. in partnership with The Ames Companies, provides NGC member clubs the opportunity to select tools valued up to $250 for community gardening projects. Eligible projects must be conducted by NGC clubs between March 1 and September 30, 2025, and may involve collaboration with other organizations. Selection criteria include community impact, member involvement, tool necessity, and project uniqueness.

The Snoqualmie Tribal Organization Grant for Arts & Culture supports nonprofit organizations in Washington State, helping to enhance access and diversity in the arts. With grants of up to $50,000 available, the Snoqualmie Tribe has a history of charitable giving, having donated over $8 million since 2010. This initiative aims to partner with community groups and artists to foster cultural enrichment and engagement.

The Natural Disaster USA Fund, established by National Garden Clubs (NGC) in 1997, supports local and state garden clubs in restoring areas affected by natural disasters. Grants up to $5,000 are available for projects that include site location, disaster nature, restoration plans, and cost estimates. Eligible applicants must be sponsored by State Garden Clubs or Member Clubs and can apply for funds to enhance damaged public spaces, including gardens and parks.

The Native Plant and Wildflower Education Grant offers up to $500 for educational programs focused on native plants and wildflowers. State Garden Clubs and similar organizations can co-sponsor symposia aimed at increasing awareness and knowledge about native flora, including endangered species and habitat management. Programs should be scheduled to coincide with wildflower blooming periods, promoting public planting initiatives and the design of native gardens.

R.E.B. Awards Overview

Rudolph Bunzl, retired Chairman and CEO of American Filtrona Corporation, and his wife Esther, a community leader, began working with the Community Foundation in 1987 to develop the R.E.B. Awards for Teaching Excellence as a way to promote and improve public education.  

In 1988, they converted their private foundation into the first supporting organization of the Community Foundation. This partnership was enhanced by the creation of the R.E.B. Awards for Distinguished Educational Leadership, which recognizes outstanding public-school principals. In addition to funding the R.E.B. Awards programs, the R.E.B. Foundation makes annual grants to support other educational programs, as well as cultural and social service programs. 

R.E.B. Awards for Distinguished Educational Leadership

The R.E.B. Awards for Distinguished Educational Leadership recognizes principals who go beyond the day-to-day demands of their position to create an exceptional educational environment. Four principals will be publicly recognized, one each from local school districts in Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico and City of Richmond.

For over 30 years, the R.E.B. Foundation and the Community Foundation have worked in partnership to promote excellence in public education. Through awards programs for public school teachers and principals, we are proud to honor those individuals who work tirelessly to ensure that youth have the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in school and in life.

Awards

Each award consists of a $10,000 cash grant to the principal, and an additional $20,000 for a project chosen by the principal to benefit the school. In addition, each runner up received $10,000 to support their proposed school project.

The John C. Lasko Foundation Trust Grant supports the construction of worship spaces across the nation, requiring churches to fund at least 50% of the project costs. Established by John C. Lasko, the foundation aims to build enduring churches that adhere to its mission. Grants are specifically for sanctuary construction, and applicants must own the land designated for the church. Notably, funds are not available for debt repayment or non-sanctuary areas.

The George Waters Grant Program, established by the Minnesota Section PGA, aims to support PGA Professionals and related golf programs focusing on player development, especially for juniors and athletes with disabilities. This initiative honors George Waters, a dedicated PGA member, and helps fulfill his vision of growing the game. Grants cover teaching costs, infrastructure, and special assistance, encouraging wider participation in golf across Minnesota and North Dakota.

The CFSI Health Careers Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, provides multiple $5,000 non-renewable scholarships for students pursuing education in health-related fields. It aims to support those aged 25 and older who have previously attended college but did not complete a degree. Eligible applicants must reside in Clark or Floyd County, Indiana, and can include high school seniors planning to pursue health-related certificates or degrees, fostering educational advancement in the community.

Energy Upgrade California®

Energy Upgrade California® is a statewide initiative committed to helping Californians be more energy efficient, utilize more sustainable natural resources, reduce demand on the energy grid and make informed choices about their energy use at home and at work.

The Energy Upgrade California Community is the online home for organizations throughout California that have joined the movement. Each organization, business, and group is united in its commitment to support California as we work together to use more clean energy and reduce the strain on the electric grid. 

We’re an alliance of the California Public Utilities Commission, The California Energy Commission, electric power companies, regional energy networks, local governments, community choice aggregators, businesses, and nonprofit organizations – all united under a common goal: using more clean energy and reducing strain on the energy grid.

Flex Alert Grant Program

Executive Summary

The Flex Alert Grant Program provides grants to Community-Based Organizations (501(c)(3) non-profits) to educate Californians about Flex Alerts and motivate them to take action by reducing their energy use when one is called. Community outreach and education for the fourmonth program begins in July and ends in October. The Flex Alert Grant Program is funded by the California Public Utilities Commission. 

CBOs with a robust network, excellent outreach capabilities, and extensive experience engaging with their communities are encouraged to consider this grant program. Outreach must only be conducted to residential customers in Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, and San Diego Gas & Electric territories. California’s Flex Alert Program

A Flex Alert is a call for utility customers to voluntarily reduce electricity use when there is an anticipated shortage of energy supply. Flex Alerts are most often called during extreme heatwaves when Californians use more energy than usual to stay cool. When utility customers reduce electricity use during a Flex Alert, they can help ease strain on the grid. 

The SEMAC Rural Arts Grant aims to foster arts initiatives in rural communities of southeastern Minnesota with populations under 7,500. It supports diverse artistic projects including visual arts, music, and performance, encouraging local engagement and collaboration with community partners. Grants range from $3,000 to $6,000, and eligibility includes individual artists and nonprofit organizations within the SEMAC region. This initiative seeks to enhance cultural experiences and strengthen community ties through accessible arts programming.

The Public Safety Organizations Grants aim to enhance the grantwriting capabilities of public safety organizations, allowing them to apply for funding opportunities effectively. Eligible entities include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, public school systems, and local government units serving Polk County. The grants facilitate access to conferences and resources that improve knowledge and expertise necessary for securing non-local grants, ensuring that these organizations remain competitive and well-informed in their funding pursuits.

The Milton Hicks Wood & Helen Gibbs Wood Charitable Trust Grant supports nonprofit organizations in Texas, focusing on human services. Established by Milton and Helen Wood, it reflects their values of hard work and family. The trust typically awards 2-3 grants each year, ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations. This grant aims to foster community improvement and support various charitable initiatives.

2026-2028 System of Great Schools: Advisor Pool Management

Program Description

TEA’s Division of System Support builds the capacity of districts to plan and execute school actions to ensure that every student has access to a high-quality fit school. One way the division builds the capacity of districts and leaders is through the System of Great Schools (SGS) network. The SGS strategy is a district-wide innovation and problem-solving approach that seeks to:

1) empower educators to design and lead high-quality schools;

2) empower families with high-quality options and informed choices; and

3) focus central office on high-leverage oversight, innovation, and support activities. 

The Sustainable CT Fellowship Program offers students the opportunity to engage in sustainability initiatives across Connecticut's municipalities. By placing qualified fellows in Councils of Governments, the program aims to support local efforts toward sustainability certification. Fellows will gain practical experience, work collaboratively on projects, and build a professional network in the fields of local government and sustainability. This program fosters civic engagement, economic opportunity, and environmental health in communities throughout the state.

The Wheeler Charitable Trust Grant, established by Ruth A. Wheeler and Henry O. Wheeler in 1982, focuses on supporting education and various charitable causes primarily in California and Washington. Applications are accepted year-round, with a deadline of July 1 for annual review in August. The Trust aims to uphold the values of generosity and resilience exemplified by its founders, funding areas such as arts, health, and human services.

Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives

We envision a future in which Kentuckians value the importance of libraries and Kentucky government records and we are recognized for:

• Innovative and creative approaches for preserving and providing access to government records;
• Enabling libraries to be essential to their communities;
• Being a va​lued partner in the educational and economic development of the Commonwealth.

Conferences Grant

Grant funds will support Kentucky public library staff in attending library and job-related conferences that foster professional growth, keep them current on national trends, and equip them to implement new services and technologies that benefit their communities. The application will remain open until grant funds are exhausted.

This grant aligns with KDLA's five-year strategic plan to enhance Institutional Capacity to “enhance the knowledge and skills of public library and archival staff through professional development and training opportunities.
