Community Resilience Centers Round 2

From extreme heat to wildfires, recent climate events and public health emergencies impact every part of California. The best available projections anticipate that these climate impacts will intensify. In the face of these challenges, strengthening resilience requires investments in both physical and social infrastructure. In addition to climate resilience activities, community resilience builds ongoing social cohesion, trust, and networks.

The Community Resilience Centers (CRC) Program:

• Funds the planning, construction, and retrofit of community resilience centers across California’s diverse communities
• Advances communities’ capacity to plan for long-term resilience and acute emergencies
• Encourages meaningful engagement, cross-sectoral collaboration, community-based partnerships, and shared governance and decision-making models
• Mitigates the public health impacts of extreme heat and other emergency situations exacerbated by climate change
• Prioritizes projects located in and benefiting under-resourced, rural, unincorporated, and Tribal communities across geographically diverse regions in the state of California

Tobacco-Use Prevention Education: County Technical Assistance

The Tobacco-Use Prevention Education County Technical Assistance Funds provide funding to county offices of education to provide leadership, administrative oversight, training, and technical assistance (TA) to all local educational agencies (LEAs) in the county. TA focuses on: tobacco-free school policies, support to LEAs on tobacco-use prevention education and instruction, staff professional development, family and community engagement, interagency partnerships, cessation support and referrals, and program assessment. A portion of TA funds are to be directed to identifying and reducing disparities among disparate youth populations.

Ability Central's Community Impact Grants in California aim to enhance communication and information access for Deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent individuals. Focused on community-driven projects, these grants support initiatives that address critical access needs, promote meaningful inclusion, and leverage existing resources. By funding communication access programs and services, the grants help remove barriers, ensuring equitable participation in community life across the state, thereby fostering a more inclusive society.

The California Investment and Innovation Fund (Cal IIP) Program aims to strengthen community development financial institutions (CDFIs) by providing grants to enhance their capacity to assist economically-disadvantaged communities. Funding is tiered based on the number of loans closed, with grants up to $200,000 available for eligible applicants. This initiative supports various community needs, including affordable housing and small business development, ultimately promoting economic stability and growth in California.

The Del E. Webb Foundation Grant offers financial support ranging from $5,000 to $3,000,000 for nonprofit organizations operating in Arizona, California, or Nevada. The foundation prioritizes projects that enhance self-sufficiency and have long-term benefits, particularly in child and health initiatives. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) public charities and demonstrate a commitment to community service. The Crawford Taylor Foundation focuses on enhancing programs that create lasting legacies in St. Louis. With priorities in community development, women's health, animal welfare, and environmental preservation, the foundation seeks to support 501(c)(3) organizations that meet specific eligibility criteria. They avoid funding multi-year grants or for-profit initiatives, emphasizing support for local causes and relief efforts deemed important by the Taylor family.

The WE Initiative Grant, part of the Walter and Elise Haas Fund's Social Well-being program, seeks nonprofit organizations dedicated to fostering belonging and community cohesion in the Bay Area.
