The Jean Griswold Foundation (JGF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Caregivers through educational opportunities and scholarships. 

Our Mission

The mission of the Jean Griswold Foundation is to support Caregivers by providing educational scholarships* to enable them to further their training, enhance their careers, and better assist the clients they serve.

By offering educational scholarships*, our Foundation will not only make a positive impact on the Caregivers themselves, but also the clients they assist and the home healthcare agencies where they are employed, as well as help advance the overarching home-care industry.

Scholarships will be paid directly to the federally accredited educational institutions of the winning Scholars’ choosing.

Empowering Caregivers Through Education

The Jean Griswold Foundation Scholarship Program awards scholarships to deserving Caregivers who wish to further their education in a care-related field. Applicants do not have to be associated with Griswold in any way, and the funds will be paid directly to the institution where the caregiver will be receiving education.

Indigo Hope Foundation: Veterans Support Services Grant

Assisting organizations that serve our veterans with housing, healthcare, job training, mental health services, and family support.

The Ferguson Cares Grant is an essential aspect of Ferguson's Sustainability strategy, focusing on social challenges and community wellbeing. This grant supports nonprofit organizations in the U.S. dedicated to affordable housing, skilled trades workforce development, clean water access, and enhancing local economic quality of life. Ferguson aims to create lasting partnerships that drive positive impact within their operational regions, reflecting their commitment to social responsibility and community support.

The Piedmont Natural Gas Company Grant Program, part of the Duke Energy Foundation, supports community vitality through grants of $20,000 or less. Focus areas include vibrant economies, climate resiliency, and promoting opportunity and inclusion. Eligible organizations must have tax-exempt status and serve communities without discrimination. Organizations can apply for funding to support community-oriented programs, with applications reviewed quarterly. It's essential to submit applications at least 90 days before the event deadlines.

The Barbara Stone Foundation

Barbara Stone served as a champion for individuals with disabilities and the Foundation strives to continue her legacy. The Barbara Stone Foundation is a 501 (C) 3 non-profit organization based in Greenville County, South Carolina.

Our primary focus is to influence community systems policies and culture to result in equitable opportunities for individuals with disabilities. We do this by identifying gaps in the system, investing in or creating our own innovative programs, leveraging partnerships in the community and through our signature initiative Greenville CAN. Greenville CAN is a multi-stakeholder collective impact coalition focused on creating systemic community change through specific community projects focused on people with disabilities. Through our multi-faceted approach we believe we can achieve our vision of a community where all people with disabilities flourish.

Barbara Stone Community Leadership Award

Barbara Stone was an instrumental leader in the Greenville community when it came to the services and rights of people with disabilities. Her decades-long mission made a profound impact on the quality of life of many people with disabilities in Greenville County. Like Barbara, there are many dedicated individuals in Greenville who still carry on her legacy of service and giving. It is with great pride that the Barbara Stone Foundation has created an annual Community Leadership Award to honor an individual who has shown the same commitment, initiative and spirit. If you know of an individual who you think embodies some of the same characteristics as Ms Stone, we invite you to nominate this person. 

Barbara Stone led efforts to unify community and government leaders to establish day program options for children with disabilities and employment workshops for adults. In 1968, she helped establish a day camp for children and adults with disabilities and special needs which has grown into a wonderful summer camp called Camp Spearhead. Because of her, seeds were planted to establish many services that still exist today. Barbara’s legacy and determination to support individuals’ lives is now carried on through the Foundation which bears her name.

Barbara Stone Foundation: Community Innovations Grant

The Barbara Stone Foundation is committed to empowering individuals with disabilities. One of the ways we do this is by investing in innovative programs and initiatives that address unmet needs and provide creative solutions for the disability community in the Upstate of South Carolina. Our Community Innovations Grant program prioritizes applications that propose groundbreaking approaches to bridging service gaps and fostering inclusion. Our hope is that creative individuals and organizations in our community’s amazing network of providers will develop new ways to ensure our community is place where individuals with disabilities flourish.

The SC INBRE: Mentored Student Pilot Projects (MSP) program offers undergraduate and graduate students in South Carolina funding of $3,000 for one year to conduct small, well-defined research projects under faculty mentorship. This initiative supports career development and hands-on training in biomedical research, enhancing the research capacity of member institutions. Applications are encouraged from students who have not previously held an SIRP award, fostering diversity in research participation.

The Spinks Family Foundation provides large grants of $10,000 and above annually to support non-profit organizations focused on education, food security, health, and mental health initiatives. Organizations must be 501(c)3 certified and demonstrate community impact with at least 500 volunteer hours. Applications are accepted from March 1 to March 30, and awards are announced by September 15. This initiative aims to empower nonprofits to effectively address pressing community needs.

The Spinks Family Foundation offers small grants to support non-profit organizations dedicated to improving community life in South Carolina. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) certified, with a focus on volunteer engagement and community services. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed quarterly, providing essential funding for initiatives in education, health, and food security. This philanthropic effort aims to foster strong, healthy communities and enhance the well-being of residents.

The Prisma Health-Upstate Foundation Micro-Grant Program, established in 2023, aims to enhance the patient experience and quality of care by providing clinical care teams with resources. Individual awards can reach up to $5,000, with funds available to selected applicants in February, to be utilized by the end of the fiscal year. Award recipients are expected to report on the impact of their funding, contributing to a legacy of compassionate care in the Upstate community.

The Duke Energy Foundation offers Local Impact Grants to enhance the quality of life in South Carolina. Grants up to $20,000 support initiatives in vibrant economies, climate resiliency, and opportunity and inclusion. Eligible organizations must serve communities powered by Duke Energy and meet specific tax-exempt criteria. The foundation prioritizes projects that promote environmental sustainability and community development, while emphasizing non-discrimination and measurable impact.
