The L.B. Research and Education Foundation Grant Program supports U.S.-based nonprofits focusing on innovative education and health solutions for underserved populations. Eligible organizations can apply by submitting a 400-word concept paper, and selected applicants may receive funding ranging from $10,000 to $75,000. The Foundation prioritizes projects that foster critical thinking and creativity, address health disparities, and encourage collaboration. Creating Health Access for Next Generation Equity (CHANGE) Grant Program

Launched in 2023, the AstraZeneca Foundation’s signature Creating Health Access for Next Generation Equity (CHANGE) program works to improve access to quality healthcare.

Beginning April 1, 2026, the AstraZeneca Foundation will accept grant requests of $200,000 - $220,000 for review and consideration for its next cohort of CHANGE grant awardees. Organizations receiving funding in 2026 may be considered for renewed funding on an annual basis for two additional years, contingent upon meeting objectives, funding availability and approval by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

The intent of the grants is to provide general operating support for organizations working in innovative, collaborative ways at the community level to help improve access to quality healthcare in their community during the grant year and beyond. Our aim is for funded organizations to maximize the benefit to community members and community-based organizations and to work toward continuing their services beyond potential AstraZeneca Foundation funding.

Texas Mutual Community Grants: Working Texans Economic Opportunity Grant

Reducing barriers that limit economic opportunity for working Texans

Texas Mutual seeks to invest in initiatives that stabilize working households so Texans can obtain and sustain employment and participate in economic opportunities. We’re looking for organizations aligned with one of the following focus areas:

• Championing working parents by expanding access to quality early childhood education (ages 0-5) or out-of-school time care for children so that parents can obtain and retain stable employment.
• Prioritizing workforce wellness by ensuring working Texans are physically healthy through increased access to primary care.
• Enabling workforce advancement by facilitating access to essential basic needs so that working Texans can obtain or retain stable employment, building a foundation for long-term economic mobility.

Requests should not exceed 10% of the organization’s current operating budget. Only one Texas Mutual community grant may be awarded per organization per calendar year.

The Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship, awarded by Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, supports first and second-year medical students conducting research over 2 to 12 months. With a total funding of $7,000, students can receive reimbursement for travel expenses up to $1,000 for presenting their findings at national conferences. Eligibility requires enrollment in schools with active AΩA chapters, while those taking a year off for research or holding a PhD are ineligible.

CommonSpirit Health offers the Community Health Improvement Grant to enhance health equity and service systems for underserved populations. Through collaborative efforts with 501(c)(3) organizations, this initiative provides financial support for essential health projects. Grant amounts range from $19,500 for small grants to $150,000 for standard grants, varying by hospital. Participating hospitals include those under Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health, aimed at addressing significant community health needs.

FNBO: Capital or Major Donations aims to support nonprofit organizations through significant financial contributions for capital projects. This initiative focuses on enhancing community well-being by addressing key areas such as affordable housing, environmental stability, and education. FNBO prioritizes partnerships with nonprofits dedicated to long-term impacts, especially for historically underrepresented populations. By fostering community engagement and providing essential resources, FNBO strives to create a positive influence in the regions it serves.

The James M. Cox Foundation Grant offers support to nonprofit organizations focused on conservation, early childhood education, family empowerment, and health. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt and located in areas where Cox Enterprises operates. Grant applications are accepted year-round, with deadlines before Trustee meetings. Preference is given to organizations with a history of local engagement. This foundation embodies the philanthropic spirit of its founder, James M. Cox, by giving back to the community.

Hendrick Health Community Grants and Event Sponsorships provide funding opportunities for agencies and organizations aligned with Hendrick Health’s community initiatives. The program aims to empower residents to live healthier lives, enhance youth development, educate the community, strengthen the economy, and enrich cultural experiences in West Texas. With a commitment to local service and health, Hendrick Health continues its legacy of supporting holistic well-being and community engagement.

The Black Fund of Central Texas aims to empower Black-led organizations and strengthen the Black community through targeted investments in various impact areas, including arts, education, health, and advocacy. With over $850,000 granted since 2022, this fund prioritizes fairness and opportunity while fostering collaboration and community growth. In the current cycle, $250,000 will be awarded across 20 grants to eligible nonprofit organizations operating within the Central Texas region, enhancing individual and community prosperity.

Holman Enterprises Community Grants aim to support low-income communities by providing essential resources like food, housing, education, and healthcare. With financial aid of $10,000 for single-year support or $15,000 for multi-year commitments, these grants focus on organizations dedicated to enhancing opportunities for low-income individuals in the areas served. This initiative reflects Holman Enterprises Inc's commitment to community welfare and social responsibility.

The Meadows Foundation Grant Program is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Texans through diverse funding initiatives across education, environment, arts, and health. Grants are available for non-profit organizations recognized as public charities by the IRS, primarily in Texas counties including Nueces and Aransas. However, the Foundation does not fund individuals, governmental entities, or political activities, ensuring support is directed towards community enhancement and welfare.

The Garland D. Rhoads Foundation Grant supports qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organizations in Texas, focusing on community improvement, education, health, and human services. Established in 1971, the foundation aims to alleviate human suffering and promote civic betterment. Preference is given to organizations serving Navarro County, ensuring that funds are utilized for significant public projects and scientific research, fostering a better future for all.

Rural Communities Health Care Investment Program

The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) utilizes funds to assist rural communities in recruiting health care providers other than physicians to practice in their community by providing partial student loan reimbursements or stipend payments to non-physicians. The Rural Communities Health Care Investment Program (RCHIP) utilizes funds from a permanent endowment established from the tobacco settlement for the State of Texas and authorized under TEX. GOV'T CODE Sec. 487.558. The authority for this program is provided in Texas Government Code Chapter 487, Subchapter M, and Texas Administrative Code Chapter 30, Subchapter B.

The SORH awards $10,000 student loan repayment/stipends to eligible non-physician licensed healthcare providers in response to the recruitment and retention needs of medically underserved areas (MUA) in Texas. Selected participants must agree to work, and complete, a 12-month service obligation in a qualifying community to receive the student loan repayment/stipend.

The W.P. & Bulah Luse Foundation, established in 1947, focuses on enhancing education, health, and human services for underserved populations, particularly in Dallas, Texas. The foundation provides one-year grants, encouraging organizations to apply after a two-year hiatus if previously funded. Special consideration is given to local charitable organizations that aim to improve the quality of life for residents in the Dallas area. This commitment to community support reflects the foundation's enduring legacy.

The Elevance Health Foundation's Behavioral Health Grant aims to address significant challenges in mental health and substance use disorders. With a commitment of up to $90 million over three years, the Foundation seeks partnerships with nonprofits to enhance treatment access, promote prevention strategies, and alleviate loneliness among affected individuals.
