Kenneth Vonk Scholarship

Open to students who are residents of Kent County. Preference to Challenge Scholar students through 2032.

The Carlson Music Scholarship at Montana State University supports students pursuing a degree in music. To qualify, applicants must have completed the School of Music scholarship audition and be enrolled in applicable programs. The Carl Swartz Scholarship at Montana State University supports students pursuing degrees in Film and Photography, particularly those in the Film Option, Integrated Lens-Based Media, or Science and Natural History Filmmaking. General Victim Assistance Grant Program

Purpose

The purpose of this program is to provide services and assistance directly to victims of crime to speed their recovery and aid them through the criminal justice process.

Services may include the following:

Responding to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims;

• Assisting victims in stabilizing their lives after a victimization;
• Assisting victims to understand and participate in the criminal justice system; and
• Providing victims with safety and security.

This solicitation is for programs seeking to provide general victim services to broad categories of victim populations that may include victims of commercial sexual exploitation or trafficking, including emergency and long-term residential (shelter) for children and transition-age youth as well as drop-in centers.

The Indiana Elks Vocational Grant provides essential financial support to Indiana high school seniors seeking vocational education. Open to undergraduate students who are residents of Kent County.

The C. K. Chan Scholarship, offered by Montana State University, supports undergraduate students pursuing a degree in engineering. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25, and be enrolled as full-time students. The C. Lester and Audrey P. Hogan Scholarship at Montana State University supports students pursuing degrees in engineering, chemistry, mathematics, or physics. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. This scholarship exemplifies MSU's commitment to providing transformative educational opportunities, fostering academic excellence, and supporting the next generation of leaders in STEM fields. With a rich history since 1893, MSU continues to empower students to achieve their academic and professional goals.

The Elm Acres Grants Fund supports projects benefiting at-risk youth in Southeast Kansas, encompassing Crawford, Cherokee, and Labette counties. Established by the Elm Acres Foundation in collaboration with the Community Foundation, this initiative has awarded over $140,000 to local nonprofits since 2017. In 2023 alone, it granted $23,413 to 12 organizations, underscoring its commitment to fostering opportunities and essential services for the youth in the community.

Beckley Area Foundation

Beckley Area Foundation was established in January 1985 by ten community-minded citizens. It began with a gift of $1.1 million from the Dr. Thomas Walker Memorial Health Foundation as “seed” money for this Raleigh County project. BAF assets have grown to over $70 million with over 500 different funds managed by our three trustee banks. Today, Beckley Area Foundation is one of West Virginia’s largest community foundations.

Since its inception, BAF has distributed over $23 million to charities and other worthy projects in the fields of education, public recreation, health & human services, the arts, animal services and beautification.

Scholarships

The Beckley Area Foundation proudly manages scholarship funds established by individuals, businesses, and organizations dedicated to helping students pursue higher education. Many of these scholarships are tailored for specific schools, fields of study, or graduates from local high schools, while others offer broader opportunities. No matter the path, our scholarships aim to support students from our region as they work toward achieving their educational goals.

Most of these scholarships must be awarded to students from our geographic area or at least preference given to such students. While the majority of scholarships benefit Raleigh County applicants there are others designated for Fayette, Summers, Webster, and Wyoming students. 

WWHS Class of 1952 – Jo Lee Daniels Scholarship

The Jo Lee Daniels Scholarship is to be awarded to an individual demonstrating the qualities of a “Jo Lee like personality” exemplified in a poetic reflection about her. This includes such characteristics as intelligence, unquestionable integrity, a leader of other students, remarkable wit and sense of humor, hospitable nature, sympathy for others, patience with trying people and situations, a strong work ethic, warm heartedness, and FRIENDLY. The recipient may be male or female.

This scholarship is not renewable.

The Art and Change Grant offers up to $2,500 to women, trans, and gender nonconforming artists in Greater Philadelphia for projects that foster social change. This grant emphasizes collaborative processes with a Change Partner, promoting community engagement through various artistic mediums. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years old and demonstrate a commitment to social justice. The initiative seeks to empower artists to create impactful work that challenges societal norms and inspires transformation.

The DTA Foundation: Dental Hygiene Scholarship, in partnership with the Benco Family Foundation, provides up to $10,000 to dental hygiene students from underrepresented backgrounds. This initiative honors Lawrence and Sally Cohen's contributions to the field. With a generous $1M endowment, the scholarship aims to support aspiring dental hygienists, ensuring increased accessibility to the profession and recognizing those who demonstrate passion and commitment to dental care.

The Site-Based Clinical Training Grant Program, administered by the Minnesota Department of Health, aims to enhance clinical healthcare training throughout Minnesota. With a funding estimate of $4,657,000 for FY 2026, this grant prioritizes rural primary care and oral health training. Eligible applicants include clinical training sites actively enrolled in the Minnesota Health Care Program, which must demonstrate their commitment to addressing healthcare shortages in underserved areas. This initiative supports the development of a skilled healthcare workforce.

It provides smaller financial contributions, aimed at covering less than 20% of an organization's annual budget. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) entities, financially sound, and primarily serve youth in Larimer and Weld Counties. The grant is intended for minor operational support and essential supplies, not for capital projects or major infrastructure. This initiative fosters community engagement and leadership among young people.
