Staunton Farm Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of people who live with mental illness and/or substance use disorders. The Foundation works to enhance behavioral health treatment and support by advancing best practices through grant making to non-profit organizations in ten southwestern Pennsylvania counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington, Westmoreland.

Purpose

Staunton Farm Foundation (SFF) recognizes that strong organizational capacity is essential to sustaining high-quality mental health and substance use services over time. Capacity-building investments strengthen nonprofit organizations’ internal systems, leadership, and infrastructure, enabling them to more effectively carry out their missions. By supporting capacity-building efforts, SFF seeks to empower organizations to innovate, adapt, and enhance programs and resources in response to evolving community needs, ultimately broadening and deepening positive impact for the individuals and communities they serve.

Guidelines for Use of Funds

Capacity-building grants may be used to support activities that strengthen an organization’s infrastructure, systems, leadership, and long-term sustainability. Funds may be used to contract for technical assistance, training, evaluation, planning, technology upgrades, and other expenses necessary to achieve the goals of the proposed project. Specific grant terms will be outlined with successful applicants.

Allowable uses include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Organizational Infrastructure & Systems
  • Strategic planning, sustainability planning, or business model development
  • Data collection, evaluation, or outcomes measurement systems
  • Technology upgrades that support service delivery, coordination, or reporting (e.g., EHR enhancements, client tracking systems, cybersecurity improvements)
• Workforce & Leadership Development
  • Staff training and professional development related to behavioral health or substance use services
  • Leadership development or succession planning
  • Workforce initiatives aimed at improving retention
• Program & Operational Effectiveness
  • Program design or redesign to improve quality, accessibility, or cultural responsiveness
  • Implementation support for evidence-based or promising practices
  • Quality improvement initiatives
  • Policy, procedure, or compliance development related to licensure, accreditation, or best practices
• External Expertise & Technical Assistance
  • Consultants or technical assistance providers with relevant expertise (e.g., finance, evaluation, clinical quality, operations, or technology)
  • Compliance support related to organizational operations (excluding litigation)

The Patrick Munn Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by the Pittsburgh Foundation, honors the memory of Patrick Munn, who passed away in 2022. This scholarship supports graduating seniors from select high schools in southwestern Pennsylvania who demonstrate financial need and a commitment to education, particularly those involved in school marching bands. The fund aims to empower students who embody Patrick's spirit of kindness and enthusiasm for learning, ensuring his legacy continues in the community.

The PNC Foundation's Grow Up Great Grant is a significant initiative aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for children from birth to age 5. With a commitment of $500 million, this program focuses on improving school readiness through support in vocabulary development, social-emotional learning, and the arts. By partnering with community-based nonprofits, PNC aims to foster stronger, smarter, and healthier communities, ensuring a brighter future for the next generation.

The DSF Charitable Foundation offers health grants to support projects in southwestern Pennsylvania. Grant requests are reviewed three times a year, with initial inquiries recommended to be sent via email by the organization's executive director. The Foundation does not fund individuals or endowments and requires proof of tax-exempt status. Organizations must provide detailed project descriptions along with financial information for consideration, ensuring clarity on the funding purpose.

The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank Impact Grants provide essential funding to organizations facing barriers in delivering food assistance. The Colcom Foundation Grant focuses on enhancing local environmental and community projects in southwestern Pennsylvania. It supports initiatives in advocacy, land conservation, and community development to improve quality of life and promote ecological sustainability. Eligible projects may include arts and culture, health services, and environmental education, reflecting the Foundation's commitment to regional heritage and stewardship. This grant represents an opportunity for organizations to engage in meaningful work that addresses pressing community and environmental needs.

The FISA Foundation Grant supports initiatives aimed at improving the health and well-being of people with disabilities, particularly women and girls. Priorities include enhancing access to healthcare, addressing biases in the system, and preventing violence against vulnerable populations. The foundation emphasizes projects with clear outcomes and realistic evaluation plans, focusing on marginalized groups, especially those facing systemic barriers. Eligible organizations must operate within southwestern Pennsylvania and benefit women, girls, or people with disabilities.

The Audrey Hillman Fisher Foundation Grant aims to enhance health and healing for communities through investments in the arts, education, human services, and environmental initiatives. With a focus on Pittsburgh, PA, Santa Barbara, CA, and Squam Lakes, NH, the foundation accepts grant applications year-round, with deadlines of January 5 for June funding and July 1 for November funding. The foundation prioritizes projects from new organizations within these regions.

The Pitcairn-Crabbe Foundation Grant focuses on supporting religious work, Christian education, community welfare, and the overall improvement of humanity's condition, particularly in Pennsylvania. The foundation prioritizes projects that demonstrate measurable outcomes, address significant challenges, and show potential for leveraging additional support. Applicants must submit an online Letter of Inquiry (LOI) to outline their organization and funding needs. Grants are typically limited to agencies within a 100-mile radius of Pittsburgh.

The Elsie H. Hillman Foundation Grant aims to enhance the quality of life in southwestern Pennsylvania by focusing on community empowerment and support for underrepresented groups. Established in 2006, the Foundation promotes equity and civic engagement among women, minorities, and LGBTQ+ residents. It provides funding for programs that foster dialogue, health initiatives, and cultural revitalization, while prioritizing organizations that align with its mission and operate within the Pittsburgh region.

The Henry L. Hillman Foundation Grant supports innovative projects aimed at improving the quality of life in Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania. With a focus on civic leadership, collaboration, and new models of economic development, the foundation prioritizes initiatives that leverage community assets and address pressing social needs. Grant recipients must be 501(c)(3) organizations, with the aim of fostering healthy neighborhoods, strengthening democracy, and promoting sustainable regional infrastructure.

The Hillman Foundation, established in 1951, aims to enhance the quality of life in Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania. It focuses on strategic grantmaking for economic development, health, education, human services, the arts, and the environment. The Foundation prioritizes initiatives that foster community growth, support arts and culture, and address social determinants of health. It primarily funds tax-exempt organizations serving the ten counties of southwestern Pennsylvania.

The Justin Brooks Fisher Foundation Grant supports conservation and sustainability initiatives, primarily in Boulder, Colorado. The Foundation funds projects focused on environmental education, innovative strategies to combat climate change, and wildfire resiliency. Eligible organizations must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) and primarily operate in Boulder or Pittsburgh. MAGA College Scholarship Program

MAGA Phoenix created the MAGA Scholarship Program in 2015, and has continued to award deserving students college scholarships each year. MAGA Phoenix takes great pride in being able to assist young students in achieving their educational goals.

The Mexican American Golf Association of Phoenix, Arizona (MAGA Phoenix) is dedicated to raising funds for college scholarships through monthly golf tournaments.

MAGA Phoenix is pleased to announce that we will be offering 12 qualified applicants $1,000.00 (renewable) scholarships to assist them in continuing their education. Eight of the 12 scholarships will be going to students entering into a traditional college/university and up to four of the scholarships will be going to students entering a trade/vocational/apprenticeship program.

Robert Franklin Black Scholarship Fund

The endowment shall be devoted to the support of two scholarships:

The Juki Automation Scholarship (JAS) 

The JAS scholarship will be made available to individuals between the ages of 16 and 30 who have received or are expecting to receive a high school degree or its equivalent and whose parent, stepparent, legal guardian, aunt, uncle, spouse or grandparent is an employee of Juke Automation Systems. The individual must have applied to and be planning to attend an accredited institution of higher learning within one year of the application deadline. Such institution may be a four-year college or university, a community college or a technical institute, for undergraduate or graduate education. The scholarship is renewable. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, school and community activities, work experience and educational goals. 

Community Scholarship

The Community Scholarship will be made available to individuals between the ages of 16 and 25 who have received or are expecting to receive a high school degree or its equivalent and whose parent or legal guardian is a resident of Durham, Orange and Wake Counties of North Carolina. The scholarship is renewable but may not be used for graduate education. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, school and community activities, work experience and educational goals.

This will be outlined in your award notification. The minimum scholarship award amount is $1,000.

Applicants will be judged on character, well-roundedness, and potential for future achievement.

Ralph Edwin and Ruby Irene Holloman Davis Scholarship Endowment

Applicants are graduating seniors from high schools in Johnston County who are continuing their education at a college, university, community or junior college, technical school, nursing school, or other post-high school training leading to a degree or associate degree, with preference to those who have financial need.

Alpha Beta Chapter Scholarship Fund

Helen Tomlinson Hobart Scholarship Endowment

Graduates of a public high school in Johnston County with plans to attend an accredited university or community college with a career objective to become a public-school teacher. “Public high school” does not include schools that are considered or classified as charter schools.
