Energy Upgrade California® is a statewide initiative committed to helping Californians be more energy efficient, utilize more sustainable natural resources, reduce demand on the energy grid and make informed choices about their energy use at home and at work.

The Energy Upgrade California Community is the online home for organizations throughout California that have joined the movement. Each organization, business, and group is united in its commitment to support California as we work together to use more clean energy and reduce the strain on the electric grid. 

We’re an alliance of the California Public Utilities Commission, The California Energy Commission, electric power companies, regional energy networks, local governments, community choice aggregators, businesses, and nonprofit organizations – all united under a common goal: using more clean energy and reducing strain on the energy grid.

Flex Alert Grant Program

Executive Summary

The Flex Alert Grant Program provides grants to Community-Based Organizations (501(c)(3) non-profits) to educate Californians about Flex Alerts and motivate them to take action by reducing their energy use when one is called. Community outreach and education for the fourmonth program begins in July and ends in October. The Flex Alert Grant Program is funded by the California Public Utilities Commission. 

CBOs with a robust network, excellent outreach capabilities, and extensive experience engaging with their communities are encouraged to consider this grant program. Outreach must only be conducted to residential customers in Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, and San Diego Gas & Electric territories. California’s Flex Alert Program

A Flex Alert is a call for utility customers to voluntarily reduce electricity use when there is an anticipated shortage of energy supply. Flex Alerts are most often called during extreme heatwaves when Californians use more energy than usual to stay cool. When utility customers reduce electricity use during a Flex Alert, they can help ease strain on the grid. 

California Library Association

The California Library Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, established in 1895 under the title of "Library Association of Central California," and lead by its first President, J.C. Rowell from the University of California. 

Currently, CLA has over 1,600 Individual, Business, and Institutional members. Individual members include librarians, library employees, library students, friends group members, trustees, retirees as well as members of the general public who wish to support California libraries. CLA Business members represent a wide range of library-supporting businesses, whereas Institutional members include library institutions and systems who support the association's advocacy programs.

Annually, CLA provides professional development and advocacy support for its members and the California library community at large. Additionally, CLA supports the administration of the California Summer Reading Program as well as further summer enrichment programs funded by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.

The California Library Association is committed to helping library staff develop the knowledge and skills needed to work for 21st Century libraries, and to advance in the library field.

USA 250 Semiquincentennial Funding Opportunity for California Public Libraries

What is CLA’s USA 250 Semiquincentennial Funding Opportunity?

In partnership with the California State Library, California Library Association is offering reimbursement funding to California public libraries interested in creating USA 250 Semiquincentennial related programming with their communities, to support learning and enrichment, community connection and engagement. These reimbursement funds can support:

• Programming related to the 250th anniversary of the creation of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, including programming that sheds light on histories, people, stories, and/or social and political movements related to the Declaration of Independence and the long journey towards realizing the document’s guarantees and ideals for all.
• USA 250 Semiquincentennial related programming can focus on adults, intergenerational groups, children, teens, and/or families.

California public libraries may apply for up to $3,500 in reimbursement funds to plan and support summer USA 250 programming that resonates with their communities. Funds can be used for:

• Materials and supplies for interactive learning and/or enrichment programming such as film screenings, local history activities, musical programming, art and crafting activities, cooking programming, etc.
• Facilitator/educational presenter fees 

Community-Centered Programming

As part of the USA 250 application, libraries are asked to include information on community interests and aspirations that the programming will reflect; and to discuss how the project will engage with, and collaborate with, community voices.

Guidelines & Requirements

• Awardees must collaborate with at least one community connection or partner.
• Please review the list of LSTA allowable and unallowable costs. 
• Jurisdictions may apply for up to two outlets. A separate application should be submitted for each library location. (Due to limited funding, grant staff will award funds to accommodate the greatest number of library jurisdictions.)
• A reimbursement request form must be accompanied by scanned/digital receipts and received within 2 weeks of the program’s conclusion.

The Creative Sector Flex Fund provides essential support for dynamic arts organizations in Pennsylvania, specifically those with annual revenues between $10,000 and $200,000. With grants of up to $5,000, this program allows flexibility in funding usage, addressing diverse needs including administrative and programmatic expenses. Administered by the Centre Foundation, it serves Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, and Huntingdon Counties, requiring annual applications to ensure continued support for the arts community.

The Peyton Anderson Foundation Grant focuses on improving the human condition in Macon-Bibb County, Georgia. It supports non-profit organizations that provide urgent, measurable services to the less fortunate, including adult and family assistance. The Foundation emphasizes collaboration among local organizations to maximize impact and sustainability. Eligible projects should demonstrate measurable results and long-term effectiveness. However, the Foundation does not fund direct financial relief, event sponsorships, or operations outside of the designated area.

The Susan Cook House Educational Trust Grant provides funding for charitable purposes in Central Illinois, specifically supporting nonprofit organizations recognized under IRS section 501(c)(3). This grant program encourages educational initiatives that benefit the local community. Please note that individuals cannot apply for this grant; applications are limited to eligible nonprofit organizations. The Investing in Artists: Tools & Equipment Grant, offered by the Center for Cultural Innovation, provides funding between $1,000 and $5,000 for individual craft artists in the U.S. to purchase essential tools and equipment. This program aims to enhance the creative support system, enabling artists to produce object-based work and meet safety standards. Eligible applicants must demonstrate a commitment to their craft and have presented public artistic work within the last three years.

The Governor’s Awards in the Arts, coordinated by the Kentucky Arts Council, celebrate outstanding contributions to the arts by individuals and organizations in Kentucky. This prestigious program honors exemplary achievements through six distinct award categories. Each year, the Council recognizes artists, educators, and community advocates who have made a significant impact, fostering arts advocacy and cultural growth throughout the state. Applicants are encouraged to embody the core values of the Kentucky Arts Council in their submissions.

The SLCAC Project Support Grants offer financial assistance to arts projects in Salt Lake City. With a focus on community engagement, these grants prioritize initiatives like concerts, workshops, and murals that benefit the public. The program allocates approximately $70,000 annually, with grants ranging from $2,000 to $4,000. All projects must be arts-based, open to the community, and occur within specified funding cycles. Applicants may submit one proposal per year, promoting adherence to evaluation criteria for success.

The NCVMA Public and Private Animal Shelter Fund provides a one-time grant of up to $2500 to support public and private animal shelters in North Carolina. This initiative aims to enhance the health and welfare of animals by assisting shelters in making necessary repairs and ensuring compliance with state inspection guidelines. Eligible applicants include animal shelters defined by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, focusing on upgrades that benefit animal welfare.

The Biffa Award's Main Grants Scheme supports community projects near landfill sites, focusing on enhancing community buildings such as village halls and community centers. The funding can cover renovations, refurbishments, and essential improvements to create inviting spaces for various community activities. Eligible organizations must be charitable or not-for-profit, ensuring that the funding serves the wider community benefit. Priority is given to projects demonstrating significant communal use and engagement across diverse demographics.

The Peter G. Peterson Foundation Grant aims to address America's long-term fiscal challenges by promoting awareness and encouraging action. The Foundation supports innovative projects that align with its mission, particularly those by U.S.-based 501(c)(3) non-profits capable of national impact. Eligible applicants should have a minimum two-year existence and an annual budget of at least $1 million. The Foundation avoids funding organizations outside the U.S. or those involved in political activities.

The BEST Capital Construction Grant, managed by the Colorado Department of Education, offers competitive funding for capital construction projects in public school facilities. This initiative supports school districts, charter schools, and other educational entities, enabling them to build new schools or renovate existing ones. Established in 2008, the grant aims to enhance educational environments for approximately 886,517 students across Colorado, fostering improved learning conditions and accessibility for all learners.

The Officers’ Research Grants on Reducing Inequality support studies aimed at understanding and addressing inequalities affecting youth ages 5-25 in the U.S. This initiative funds descriptive, intervention, and measurement development studies focused on academic, social, behavioral, and economic outcomes. The William T. Grant Foundation encourages research that identifies specific inequalities and explores effective programs or policies to mitigate these disparities while addressing systemic issues such as racism and structural inequality.

Maggie McIntosh School Arts Fund FY27

The Maggie McIntosh School Arts Fund supports the expansion of arts programs for students in Baltimore City Public Schools.

Funding is used to expand arts curriculum by providing grants to schools for classroom art supplies and student arts experiences through partnerships led by Arts Every Day.

The COAD Appalachian Development Fund Grants, offered by the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, aim to enhance the quality of life in Appalachian Ohio through innovative programs. Grants of up to $10,000 are available to nonprofit and public organizations serving the region. Priority is given to projects led by local organizations, promoting community development and addressing specific needs. Past awards include housing coordinators and infrastructure improvements, reflecting a commitment to sustainable growth and support for COAD member agencies.

The Davis Family Foundation Implementation Grants support innovative projects that enhance teaching and learning at accredited colleges in New England. Established in 1985, the foundation has awarded over $140 million to improve educational outcomes and reduce costs. Applicants are encouraged to consult with program staff prior to submission. Funded projects typically focus on curriculum improvement, faculty development, and collaborative cost-reduction efforts, all aimed at enriching the undergraduate experience.

Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records

Arizona Revised Statutes Title 41; Article 2.1 establishes the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records, referred to as "the State Library", in the Office of the Secretary of State. The State Library was founded in 1915 to collect, preserve, and provide access to materials relating to law, political science, economics, sociology, subjects pertaining to the theory and practice of government, genealogy, and Arizona history. The format of materials may vary, but the majority of the collections contain unique and original materials or historic published texts, newspapers, and maps that can be found nowhere else.

Mission: To provide Arizonans access to information about their government, their state, and their world by offering content in a variety of formats, preserving Arizona's history for future generations, and empowering local institutions to engage their communities in learning.

Library Services & Technology Act (LSTA) Funding

Competitive project grants of federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) are offered in support of the State Library’s Five-Year Plan, as approved by IMLS, and to help fulfill the mission of the Library Development branch to “empower Arizona libraries to offer excellent customer service through consulting, grant funding, resources, and training.”

All grants for 2026 fall under two categories: a smaller Express Grants; and a larger General Grants

Express Grants

The smaller Express Grants come with pre-set funding limits, activities, and outcomes:

• Collections and Programming (CAP)
• Staff Development Day
• Wi-Fi Hotspot Lending
• Writers in Residence in Libraries
• AI Training & Tools

The MacRobert Trust Horticultural Training Scheme offers hands-on training for up to six trainees annually, providing them with accommodation and a salary at the National Minimum Wage. Trainees engage in practical horticultural skills development while assisting professional gardens teams, and they receive training towards RHS qualifications. The program also includes internships at renowned gardens and is ideal for new entrants and those changers in horticulture. Applications for the 2024/25 cycle are open until April 12, 2024.

The Allied Arts Allocations Grant Program provides vital funding to its 25 member agencies in central Oklahoma, enabling them to deliver quality arts and cultural programming. The program supports a range of needs, from administrative costs to hosting acclaimed exhibits and performances. Eligible organizations must be nonprofit, tax-exempt, and operational for at least three years, with a commitment to the arts community. This initiative enhances the cultural landscape of Oklahoma and fosters community engagement.

The John T. & Elizabeth C. Adams Arts Fund Grant, established by the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, aims to enhance artistic quality in the Duluth-Superior area. It supports programs that enrich performances and artistic services, promoting cultural growth. Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) nonprofits and governmental entities in the region, which encompasses parts of Wisconsin and Minnesota, as well as specific tribal nations. The fund is committed to fostering community through the arts.

The Energy Conservation Grant in North Dakota supports energy efficiency improvements in public buildings owned by political subdivisions. Eligible projects include insulation installation, efficient lighting, HVAC upgrades, and weather sealing, with awards up to $100,000 requiring a 50% cash match. Projects must achieve a payback period of 10 years or less, and all energy savings calculations will be reviewed by Community Services. Funding is provided on a reimbursement basis.

The Orange County Venue Subsidy Grant for Arts and Culture, facilitated by United Arts of Central Florida, aims to support 501(c)(3) nonprofits in presenting cultural programming at accessible venues in Orange County. This program covers up to 50% of venue rental costs, allowing organizations to elevate the production value of their exhibitions or performances. Priority is given to those serving underserved and diverse communities, enhancing the cultural landscape of the region.

The Future Youth Involvement (FYI) Fund Mini Grant, managed by the Tuscola County Community Foundation, empowers school-sanctioned student organizations to engage in philanthropy and leadership. With up to $250 available per organization, FYI fosters community improvement through grants for diverse educational and cultural projects. Applications are accepted throughout the academic year, encouraging student initiative and participation while ensuring oversight by school authorities. This initiative aims to cultivate responsible youth leadership and enhance the quality of life in Tuscola County.

The DAAD North America program offers funding for faculty and students to organize interdisciplinary workshops and conferences focused on German studies. Supported by the German Foreign Office, it aims to enhance understanding of Germany's cultural, political, and economic landscape in North America. Projects must be well-defined and financially supported by at least 50% from other sources, excluding transatlantic travel and overhead costs. This initiative encourages collaboration and engagement in the humanities and social sciences.

The WACF – New London Spicer Area Fund Grant supports community advancements through funding for capital projects and program expansion in the New London-Spicer area. Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, schools, and government entities located in 12 northern townships of Kandiyohi County. Grants range from $1,000 to $5,000, with a focus on projects promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity. This initiative aims to foster local development and enhance community resources.

The Derby Community Foundation Community Enrichment Grant provides competitive funding of $500 to $10,000 to non-profit organizations and government entities that serve the Derby community. Eligible projects must align with the Foundation's mission and benefit residents within the USD 260 boundaries. Organizations can apply annually, but those that received funding in the previous cycle must wait a year before reapplying.

An award from the George and Viola Hoffman Fund may be made annually for student research toward a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation on a geographical subject in Eastern Europe. Eastern Europe includes the countries of East Central and Southeast Europe from Poland south to Romania, Bulgaria, and the successor states of the former Yugoslavia. Topics may be historical or contemporary, systematic or regional, limited to a small area or comparative.
