Workforce Development

The Arkansas Space Grant Consortium (ASGC), a participant in the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program (NSGCFP), invites applicants for the NASA Space Grant Workforce Development Award for internships in fields related to space at a NASA Center or aerospace-related industry. This program is to encourage students to train for careers in professional aerospace fields. 

Space-related fields include any academic discipline or field of study (including, but not limited to the physical, natural, behavioral, and biological sciences, engineering, instrumentation, sociology, computer science, and nanotechnology) that is concerned with or likely to improve the understanding, assessment, development and utilization of Space.

A significant goal of the NSGCFP is to encourage interdisciplinary training and research to train professionals for careers in aerospace science, technology, and allied fields. The value of this award is $8200 for undergraduates for a ten-week summer internship.

The Intervention Research to Improve Native American Health (IRINAH), led by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, focuses on enhancing health outcomes in Native populations. It supports research to identify causes of health issues, develop and test effective interventions, and implement strategies that promote sustainability. Life Needs Support

Life Needs Support provides need-based financial assistance to students and young adults from the Greater Milan area who face barriers that may prevent them from completing a degree or skilled trades training program. 

Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We recognize that unexpected hardships can disrupt educational progress, including expenses related to books and supplies, medical care, transportation, childcare, trade tools.

Applications are evaluated two times each year for awarding in the six months after application and selection.

The Safe Schools Fund grant (SSFG) is a non-competitive, State-funded grant program designed for local school systems in Maryland. The grant funds will be applied toward the cost of school safety-related projects and services.

We live in the communities we serve, working alongside local leaders and residents. Together, we use local data and lived experience to design solutions tailor-made for the challenges right here in the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

It is all rooted in United Way values and proven strategies, but never a one-size-fits-all approach. Every dollar you give stays local, drives measurable results, and fuels change where it matters most — in your own community.

Our Response: Building Stability

United Way NSV invests in more than quick fixes. We create long-term stability:

• $535,000 invested through Community Impact Grants, endowed funds, and supplemental awards, strengthening 50+ nonprofit partners across the region raised during the 2024-2025 campaign season. 
• Nearly 1,000 volunteers at 80+ sites during 2024’s Day of Caring, completing painting, repairs, garden builds, and cleanups. This saved agencies thousands of dollars and strengthened community infrastructure, with even greater impact expected in 2025.
• 211 and other community initiatives connecting families to critical resources before crisis becomes catastrophe.
• $50,000 transferred annually to nonprofit partners through designated funds received during workplace giving campaigns.

Impact: Together, these efforts reached 11,000+ households and 27,628 individuals — nearly one in ten people in our region.

The June Rockwell Levy Foundation provides grants to 501(c)(3) organizations in Providence County, focusing on northern Rhode Island. The foundation does not grant to public or charter schools. Organizations may apply once a year for various sectors, including Civic and Cultural Life, Education, Climate Action, and Community Health. Each sector has specific deadlines in 2026, ensuring targeted support for diverse community needs.

The Safe Arborist Techniques Fund Grant Program, established by the Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund and the International Society of Arboriculture, aims to enhance worker safety in arboriculture through research and development. Grants focus on biomechanics and tree failure mechanisms, supporting innovative practices that protect both workers and the community. Proposals are evaluated on their potential impact, scientific rigor, and the experience of the investigative team, ensuring they align with the mission of the TREE Fund.

The Gould Charitable Foundation Grant supports 501(c)(3) organizations in Boston and Kansas City. The foundation prioritizes innovative projects that can make a significant impact, particularly those with high leveraging potential and long-term benefits. Areas of interest include elder services, environmental stewardship, health care, personal rights, disadvantaged training, children's welfare, and women's issues. Applications are accepted year-round, with a focus on projects that offer valuable community enhancements.

Impact 100 Hunterdon Grant empowers women to award transformative grants of $100,000 in Hunterdon County. Established in Spring 2023, this initiative focuses on diverse local women's engagement to foster positive social change. Key areas of funding include arts, education, environment, health, and family support, ensuring that grants significantly benefit the local community. Eligibility requires projects to be completed within three years, fostering impactful collaborations among community members.

The Alice Tweed Tuohy Foundation provides grants for capital projects related to youth, education, health, community, recreation, and the arts in Santa Barbara's South Coast. With an annual budget of approximately $1.5 million to $2 million, the foundation seeks to enhance the community through impactful initiatives. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations focused on tangible improvements that benefit local residents. Applications are accepted from July 1 to September 15 each year.

About John’s Island Foundation (JIF)Mission: The John’s Island Foundation (JIF) provides grant funding for capital needs to nonprofit agencies that serve residents in Indian River County. Agencies eligible for funding are those that serve people in need and whose programs are directed toward meeting needs or assisting with issues related to food, shelter, disabilities, health, aging, abuse, or education.About the Leadership GrantsLeadership Grants are awarded for larger, often multi-year capital projects that are expected to drive significant impact and have lasting benefits in Indian River County. If a request is part of a large-scale project, please email to discuss the leadership grant process. 

The Weld Trust offers Rapid Response Grants of up to $25,000 for nonprofits, schools, and government entities in Weld County to address urgent health and safety needs. Applications are typically processed within 7-10 business days. Eligible projects may include essential items for emergency shelters or assistance for displaced individuals. This initiative aims to quickly support organizations tackling pressing issues in the community.

The Carthage Community Foundation Grant supports 501(c)(3) organizations and IRS-approved entities serving the Carthage area. This initiative aims to enhance community life through innovative projects in key areas such as health, education, arts, and nutrition. Applicants must provide a detailed budget and can only apply once for funding. Grants should be utilized within one year, ensuring impactful use of resources for community development.

Flint Hills Community Fund - Community & Rural Programs

A portion of the annual distributions of the Flint Hills Community Fund will be used to provide support for: community and rural development: museums/historic preservation; and agriculture and conservation. Grants awarded annually for the distributions will be to applicants in the following counties in this order: Chase (2026)**, Greenwood (2027), Lyon (2028), Morris (2029), Butler (2030) and Marion (2031) Counties. 

The Andrew McMorris Foundation offers Fine Arts Grants to honor the vibrant spirit of Andrew McMorris, a multi-talented artist and aspiring pilot. These grants aim to support K–12 students who embody creativity, passion, and enthusiasm for the arts. It allows for a single application to fund multiple arts activities, aiming to save time and resources for nonprofits.
