Harold & Faye Teer Scholarship

Harold and Faye Teer, both James Madison University Professors Emeriti, know firsthand the difficulties in affording higher education. Faye was the first in her family to attend college. Both Harold and Faye struggled to afford college in a time when expenses were not nearly as high as they are today.

Wishing to assist today’s students who need financial help to attend college, Drs. Harold and Faye Teer established this scholarship for Harrisonburg and Rockingham County area high school students who will be the first in their family to complete a college education. This financial aid scholarship is renewable as long as the recipient maintains a 2.5 GPA and successfully completes at least 12 academic credit hours each semester.

Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley 

Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley (CFHV) empowers individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to fulfill their philanthropic goals through the establishment of charitable funds that support the needs of Dutchess, Putnam and Ulster counties. With over $100 million in assets, CFHV manages nearly 600 charitable funds and has distributed more than $777 million in grants and scholarships since January 2000. We lead initiatives to address urgent community needs such as food insecurity and educational challenges, offering both immediate relief and long-term support.

William J. Nichols Medical Scholarship

Established by the Hyde Park Rotary in honor of Mr. Nichols, income from this fund provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors living in the Hyde Park School District with plans to pursue a career in a medical field.

Silver Star Chapter #93 Order of the Eastern Star Scholarship

The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which both women and men may belong. The organization’s membership is comprised of women and men who sincerely reflect the spirit of fraternal love and the desire to work together for good. Silver Star Chapter #93 established this scholarship as a means of fulfilling the mission of the organization to support the local community and benefit fellow mankind.

The Hearst Journalism Awards Program, established in 1960, offers substantial support for journalism education through competitive scholarships totaling up to $700,000. This prestigious program includes various competitions covering writing, photojournalism, audio, television, and multimedia, allowing students from ACEJMC-accredited institutions to showcase their talents. Fund for Education Scholarship

The Fund for Education Scholarship provides a financial award for students from Madison County High School, Culpeper County High School and/or Eastern View High School, all of whom plan to attend an accredited college or university after high school graduation. The scholarship will provide support for tuition, room & board, and fees.

The Dominion Energy Educational Equity Scholarship Program aims to support students from specific states pursuing higher education. With awards of $5,000 for 2-year programs and $10,000 for 4-year degrees, this program emphasizes both need and merit in its selection process. Administered by Scholarship America®, it is open to high school seniors and undergraduates maintaining a GPA of 3.0. Awards may be renewed for up to three years or until a bachelor's degree is obtained.

The Employees Community Fund of Boeing Company supports local communities through employee-driven grantmaking. Focusing primarily on Health & Human Services, the Colorado Chapter provides grants ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 to nonprofits addressing vital community needs. Scholarships

Since 1984, the Community Foundation of Louisville has provided tens of millions of dollars in scholarships to support students with their educational goals. We assist donors in establishing scholarship funds so that a quality education can be available for everyone.

Puckett Family Scholarship

The Paul and Sarah Puckett Scholarship was established to provide scholarship assistance in the form of grants to help defray college or university expenses of students who meet each of the following criteria: high school students residing in Floyd, Harrison, or Clark County, IN, or Hart or Bullitt County, KY, who are either home schooled or who attended traditional school; OR students residing in Jefferson County, KY who are home schooled.

The Blue Horizon Health Fund, managed by the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, provides financial assistance for medical expenses to individuals and families in need within specific Connecticut towns. This includes coverage for therapeutic, chiropractic, and surgical care for those who are indigent and helpless, regardless of background. Applications can be submitted by health and social service representatives on behalf of clients, ensuring accessible support for those facing medical challenges.

The Feasibility Clinical Trials of Mind and Body Interventions grant aims to support trials that examine complementary and integrative health approaches for high-priority NCCIH research topics. This opportunity seeks to gather essential data for designing future efficacy studies, focusing on aspects such as feasibility, acceptability, and recruitment strategies. The goal is to bridge gaps in scientific knowledge and enhance public health impact through rigorous clinical research. Applicants are encouraged to contact NCCIH representatives for guidance.

The NCCIH Multi-Site Feasibility Clinical Trials (R01) invites applications for clinical trials focused on mind and body interventions. This program emphasizes the need for multisite feasibility studies to gather essential data for future efficacy trials. The initiative is designed to enhance public health by addressing gaps in scientific knowledge related to the delivery, recruitment, and data collection of integrative health approaches. Deadlines for submissions range from February 2025 to October 2026.

The Survey and Planning Grants program, managed by the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, offers funding ranging from $1,000 to $20,000 for various historic preservation projects. Eligible activities include historic designation reports, municipal preservation planning, and pre-development studies. Applications can be submitted anytime, and grants are awarded during monthly meetings of the Historic Preservation Council. It is essential to contact the funder to discuss project eligibility and funding availability before applying.

The Dog Field Trips/Short-Term Fostering Grant from the Petfinder Foundation aims to support organizations in purchasing essential supplies for short-term foster and dog field-trip programs. Grants ranging from $500 to $1000 are awarded monthly until funds are depleted. Eligible organizations must be Petfinder members in good standing, provide contact information, and submit a grant report post-funding. This initiative helps ensure that adoptable pets do not face euthanasia due to a lack of resources.

CON Level of Care Support Services Grant Program

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to support the construction, renovation, rehabilitation, expansion, and improvement of facilities that serve youth and families. Through this investment, the Department seeks to strengthen service capacity, improve safety and accessibility, address facility deficiencies, and enhance the quality of environments in which services are delivered.

Funding may be used to support projects that improve the availability, condition, functionality, security, accessibility, or suitability of facilities used to provide residential, treatment, supportive, or other Department approved services. The Department intends to invest in projects that demonstrate a clear need, readiness for implementation, and the potential to improve outcomes for youth and families served.

Examples of allowable grant activities include:

• Demolition (in preparation for additional work)
• Site preparation and improvement
• New construction of buildings and structures
• Reconstruction or improvement of existing buildings or structure
• Specialized furnishings and equipment
• Replacement of currently utilized assets by a better asset
• Expansion of existing buildings or facilities
• Direct costs which significantly increases the service potential of a current building or structure
• Work that contains repairs, maintenance, remodeling, or rehabilitation

The Earl & Lela Frazier Scholarship supports students from the Milton-Freewater, Oregon area pursuing undergraduate degrees in medical fields. This scholarship emphasizes financial need and requires first-year applicants to have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5. Recipients must maintain a college GPA of 2.0 or higher to continue receiving funding. The scholarship is available for all four years of undergraduate study, with applications needed each year.

The Joyce & Duane Plyter Academic Scholarship offers financial assistance ranging from $500 to $1000 for students from the Milton-Freewater, Oregon area. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 while enrolled. This scholarship is available for all four years of undergraduate studies, with annual applications required. Additionally, two scholarships are offered: one for trade school students and another for those pursuing general college education.

National Welch’s Fred Killian Memorial Scholarship

The National Welch’s Fred Killian Memorial Scholarship was established in 2007 by the National Grape Cooperative and Welch’s to honor the memory of Fred Killian, a Washington State grower.

State-Aided Institutions (SAI) Field Trip Grant

This grant provides funds to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to provide transportation to students for field trips to non-profit educational institutions that are qualified as State–Aided Institutions (SAIs). This program is intended to expand student access to enriching educational experiences offered by SAIs. Priority is provided for high-needs schools, being defined in this grant as a school having more than 40% of their enrolled students as receiving or eligible for the federal Free and Reduced Price Meal (FARMs) program.

The Cambiar Catalyst Fellowship is a transformative year-long program designed for experienced educators and systems leaders. It offers intensive professional development through coaching, in-person and virtual learning experiences, and community building. Participants tackle real-world challenges in their districts using the CREATE framework, enhancing their leadership skills and impact. The fellowship aims to reimagine K-12 public education by supporting leaders in creating sustainable solutions for improved student outcomes.

The Wellborn Ecology Fund supports school-based projects that enhance environmental and ecological science knowledge in the Upper Valley. Established in 2013, it focuses on K-12 and early childhood education, especially in underserved communities. With over $5.5 million awarded since 2001, the fund promotes place-based ecology education, professional development for teachers, and initiatives like farm-to-school projects. This initiative aims to instill a deep understanding of local ecosystems and foster environmental stewardship among students.

The Families Invested in Reforming Education (FIRE) Fellowship is a six-week virtual training program designed to empower advocates committed to enhancing the education system for PreK-12 students in the U.S. Participants will engage in eight interactive sessions, focusing on advocacy skills and community networking. Graduates will benefit from ongoing support and training from the 50CAN team to further their advocacy efforts. This volunteer-only program does not offer stipends, emphasizing a commitment to educational reform.

The NASA WVSGC Graduate Research Program provides funding of up to $15,000 for graduate students working on thesis or dissertation projects in STEM fields. Applicants must be enrolled at WVSGC affiliate institutions and have a faculty mentor. The program encourages diverse applications and requires a cost share from the home institution. Competitive fellowships are available to full-time students who are U.S. citizens, supporting their research endeavors throughout the academic year and summer.

The NASA WVSGC Ambassador Program offers one-year scholarships to inspire and engage students in STEM. Selected ambassadors will connect the community with the West Virginia Space Grant Consortium, promoting awareness of opportunities in STEM fields. The program provides five $1,000 awards for the 2024-25 academic year, contingent on funding. Responsibilities include attending STEM events, engaging K-12 and higher education students, and using social media to spread awareness about STEM initiatives and programs.

The Small Grants program, administered by the Community Foundation of Howard County, offers funding for one-time opportunities and short-term crises. Grants up to $5,000 are available on a rolling basis, emphasizing emergency requests. Organizations may receive only one grant per year, ensuring that funds support projects with high community visibility and responsible financial management. This initiative aims to address immediate needs while promoting sustainability in local nonprofits.

New Jersey Department of Community Affairs

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is a State agency created to provide administrative guidance, financial support and technical assistance to local governments, community development organizations, businesses and individuals to improve the quality of life in New Jersey.

DCA offers a wide range of programs and services, including local government management and finance, affordable housing production, fire safety, building safety, community planning and development, historic preservation, disaster recovery and mitigation, and information privacy.

Weatherization Assistance Program - Multi-Family Initiative Request for Proposal

Introduction and Purpose

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (NJ DCA) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is issuing this Request for Proposal (RFP) to solicit qualified organizations to provide weatherization services for multifamily housing projects.

The goal of this project is to improve energy efficiency, implement renewable energy systems, and reduce energy costs for low-income multifamily housing units in New Jersey. Weatherization services include conducting energy audits and inspections, upgrading insulation, lighting, heating and cooling systems, renewable energy systems, and providing other ancillary energy-saving services. 

The Paul G. Silver Young Scholar Research Enhancement Award honors the legacy of Paul G. Silver by providing funding between $2000-$5000 to young scholars, including undergraduates and graduate students, pursuing innovative geophysical research at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. This award aims to support projects that extend beyond typical research boundaries, fostering creativity and mentorship in the field. Eligible candidates must demonstrate how this funding will facilitate new research opportunities and collaborations.

Adoption Growth Grants 

Purpose

Adoption Growth grants drive lifesaving outcomes by supporting successful, sustainable in-store adoption programs, events, and results in partnership with PetSmart stores.

Funding Support

Funding may be used for costs associated with building or enhancing your organization’s adoption program in partnership with PetSmart stores, including:

• Staff positions supporting in-store adoption programs and events.
• Marketing and advertising for in-store adoption programs.
• Volunteer or foster support, incentives, and recruitment related to in-store adoption events.
• Event supplies, including containment and enrichment materials.
• Shelter software and technology needs.
• Vehicle repairs or transportation to adoption events.
• Innovative in-store adoption ideas and pilot programs.
• Other costs directly associated with facilitating PetSmart adoptions and in-store events.

There are two Cohorts under this funding: Cohort 1-  Accelerating in-store adoptions; and Cohort 2: Capacity Building.

Cohort 1- Accelerating in-store Adoptions

Applicants must have completed 500 or more adoptions in a PetSmart store in the U.S. within the last 12 months.

Preference will be given to organizations that demonstrate a clear plan to expand an existing in-store adoption program or introduce new in-store adoption models that will increase adoptions.

• Step 2 - Confirm eligibility and connect with your Adoptions Grant Manager: After completing the questionnaire, you will receive an email confirming your eligibility. Eligible partners will be invited to a call with their Adoptions Grant Manager to discuss the grant opportunity, expectations, and potential fit.
• Step 3 - Engage your PetSmart store partners: Discuss your intent to apply, align on goals, and gain their commitment to support the success of your in-store adoption program.
