Scholarship amounts vary depending on the scholarship applied for. Applicants are encouraged to apply for as many awards as they are eligible to increase the likelihood of receiving one or more awards.

Scholarships can be used for cost of attendance, direct education expenses, including tuition, books, and/or other school-related fees.

If you receive an award, be sure to complete your scholarship acceptance form (online portal). Scholarship awards are paid directly to the academic institution by the end of August.

Renaissance Education Scholarship Fund

This Fund was created in 2007 by retired Sycamore teacher Yvonne Johnson and provides scholarship support to an individual who has been in the work force and desires to return to the academic world in pursuit of a college degree. The award is renewable up to three consecutive years following the initial award and can be used for tuition at any accredited university or community college for expenses associated with undergraduate study. The recipient can seek a degree in any field of study, but must demonstrate evidence of interest in the chosen field. This scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation.

The Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) program, part of FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, offers funding to state, local, tribal, and territorial governments for projects aimed at reducing or eliminating repetitive flood damage. Eligible applicants are chosen based on project ranking, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to hazard mitigation plans, which are required for funding post-disaster. This program plays a crucial role in enhancing community resilience against future flood risks.

The James P. Jackson Scholarship, provided by the Community Foundation for Muskegon County, aims to support graduating seniors from Muskegon County High Schools pursuing an Accounting degree. Established by the Jackson family in memory of James P. Jackson, this scholarship reflects a commitment to empowering students to achieve their educational goals. Jackson-Merkey Contractors Educational Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of Steve Jackson and Gary Merkey, who established the Jackson-Merkey Contractors Educational Scholarship of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. Steve Jackson and Gary Merkey have been friends since high school and business partners for many years now. They were really excited to start this find and wish they had thought of it long ago. This scholarship will benefit Muskegon County high school graduates working toward any degree but with a preference given to students pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or Constuction Management.

Hispanic Community Services Coaltion Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of the Hispanic Community Services Coalition, who established the Hispanic Community Services Coalition Scholarship of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. The Mission of the Hispanic Services Coalition of Muskegon County is to serve the Hispanic community through education, health information and services as an instrument in improving their quality of life. HCSC promotes the Hispanic culture within Muskegon County and acts as a cultural reference. This scholarship is for a Hispanic or Latino graduating seniors who are residents of and/or attend high school in Muskegon County.

The Park Foundation Grants for Democracy aim to fortify democratic foundations and good governance. Grants support initiatives that promote inclusivity, sustainability, and participation for all demographics, especially underserved communities. Key priorities include combating gerrymandering, enhancing ballot access, and eliminating dark money in elections. The foundation seeks to empower a diverse range of emerging leaders to create a truly representative society, ensuring accountability and pushing for progressive reforms at all levels of government.

The R.A. Wardle Award, presented by the Canadian Society of Zoologists, recognizes outstanding contributions to Canadian-based research in parasitism, immunity, and the environment. It is awarded annually, with nominees not required to be society members. The award includes a scroll and medal, alongside a lecture presentation at the CSZ Annual Conference. Notably, recipients cannot be awarded more than once, emphasizing the significance of each contribution to the field.

The Park Foundation Grants for School Food and Nutrition aim to ensure that all Tompkins County students have access to nutritious meals in schools. With a focus on social justice, the Foundation collaborates with local school districts to improve food security and promote healthy eating habits among students. Their strategies include partnerships with specific districts and support for initiatives that enhance the quality of school food programs, ensuring that adequate nutrition is a priority for every student.

The Margery Boyce Bursary aims to support post-baccalaureate students dedicated to serving seniors in their communities. Candidates must demonstrate significant volunteer contributions and be enrolled in a program focused on aging. Preference is given to those returning to university after a break from studies. Eligible applicants are required to be CAG members and full-time students at a recognized Canadian university, with proof of registration for the upcoming academic year.

The IN Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) offers financial and technical assistance to agricultural producers for implementing conservation practices. This program aims to enhance agricultural productivity while promoting environmental quality. Eligible participants, including socially disadvantaged farmers and Indian tribes, can benefit from various conservation activities, such as soil health improvement and water quality enhancement. EQIP prioritizes reducing pollution and soil erosion, making it a vital resource for sustainable agricultural development in Indiana.

The Therapy Scholarship Program, offered by CB State of Mind, aims to provide financial assistance for mental health care to Gunnison County residents facing financial hardship or lacking insurance. Eligible individuals can receive support for up to 10 therapy sessions with a licensed therapist of their choice. The program addresses the growing need for accessible mental health services in the community, ensuring that those in need can seek help without financial barriers.

The Vitality Grants: Arts Education program by the Rochester Area Community Foundation aims to enhance equitable access to arts education for PreK-12 students in the region. By supporting local nonprofit organizations, the grant encourages vibrant arts programming, geographic equity, and increased student engagement. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations and those with fiscal sponsors, focusing on overcoming barriers like transportation and childcare to ensure comprehensive participation in arts education initiatives.

Service One Credit Union offers a Teacher Grant program providing 12 grants of $250 each for K-12 teachers who are members or family members of members. The initiative aims to support classroom supply needs, reflecting the credit union's commitment to community engagement and educational support. Applications open annually from August 15 to September 30, with notifications sent by October 15. This program exemplifies Service One's dedication to enhancing educational resources for local teachers.

The CarolinaEast Foundation Grant aims to promote health and support the healthcare community within Craven, Jones, Pamlico, Carteret, and Onslow counties. Established in 1996, the foundation provides financial assistance to nonprofits addressing unmet healthcare needs. Its strategic goals include increasing public awareness of regional health issues and growing resources through effective management. The foundation does not fund salaries or promotional expenses, focusing instead on impactful community collaborations.

Service One Credit Union offers annual scholarships aimed at high school seniors enrolling in South Central Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) or Western Kentucky University (WKU). With a total of $4,000 available, four scholarships will be awarded at $1,000 each. Eligible applicants must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and meet specific community membership criteria. Applications are accepted each spring, reflecting the credit union's commitment to supporting local education and community development.

Service One Credit Union offers the Returning Student Scholarships to support local students in their educational pursuits. With a commitment to community, they provide five $2,000 scholarships annually, totaling $10,000 for students who meet eligibility criteria, including a minimum GPA of 2.5. This initiative not only aids students financially but also strengthens community ties by investing in the future of local families. Applications are accepted each spring, reflecting their dedication to fostering academic success.

ASPCA Research Grants

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®) research grants fund high-quality research with a clear potential to benefit animals, either directly or through effecting systems-level change. Proposals to extend existing studies, focused on other disciplines, will also be considered if they can clearly demonstrate substantial potential benefit to animal welfare.

This year we are soliciting proposals in the following six research areas:

• Access to Veterinary Care (AVC) Research
• Applied Behavior Research
• Cruelty Research
• Farm Animal Welfare Research
• Psychological Trauma Research
• Shelter Research

Proposals focused on evaluating the effectiveness of a program or service must demonstrate methodological rigor and a clear plan to produce generalizable scientific knowledge. Please view eligibility information for specific projects from the research area you are interested in. 

Cruelty Research

Proposals that address cruelty toward equines, cats, or dogs from any angle or relevant discipline (e.g., public policy, law, criminal justice, criminology, veterinary forensics, community engagement, prevention/intervention, human behavior change). Of particular interest is research that a) increases understanding of the perspectives of key stakeholder groups (e.g., law enforcement/animal control, veterinary professionals, animal shelters/rescues) or b) investigates the effectiveness of cruelty prevention/response efforts at the community or system level. Also of interest is research that heightens awareness of animal cruelty and builds knowledge that informs and engages key community stakeholders and allied professionals in preventing and responding to this animal welfare issue.

Proposals that include a shelter-researcher partnership aspect are especially encouraged. Examples include, but are not limited to, inclusion of both shelter and academic staff on the study team, the creation of a shelter-facing deliverable, an implementation prospectus that includes a feasibility assessment and identified partner shelter, etc.

The UT Subvention Grants Program at the University of Texas at Austin provides essential funding to support tenured and tenure-track faculty in publishing scholarly books. With grants of up to $5,000 available on a first-come, first-served basis, this program addresses the financial challenges posed by the rising costs of scholarly publication. The total annual funding of $40,000 allows for approximately eight awards, helping faculty overcome barriers to the dissemination of their research.

The Society of Family Planning aims to document the efficacy, safety, and acceptability of medication abortion up to 97 days, addressing a critical gap in abortion care. With medication abortion comprising 63% of all abortions in the U.S. in 2023, this funding opportunity seeks to generate vital data beyond the FDA's 70-day approval, promoting evidence-informed and person-centered clinical practices for those needing abortion care later in pregnancy.

The Men's Fund of Porter County Grant, managed by the Porter County Community Foundation, provides a $5,000 grant annually to a nonprofit organization serving Porter County. This initiative encourages local community members to contribute to causes they care about, ensuring ongoing support through an endowment fund. Since its inception, the PCCF has awarded over $50 million in grants, fostering lasting change and supporting future generations in the community.

Young Memorial Scholarship of the Foundation for Muskegon Community College of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. This scholarship provides assistance to an associate degree-seeking student who demonstrates academic excellence based on either a high school or college academic record, with preference to students interested in the Social Service discipline.

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of the Foundation for Muskegon Community College, who established the Muskegon Community College Student Emergency Needs Scholarship of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. This scholarship was established to provide scholarships to Muskegon, Ottawa or Newaygo County students.

Spinoso Masters Scholarship

Created through the generosity of John and Vivian Spinoso, this Pass Through Fund provides scholarship support for up to $10,000 to deserving students to cover tuition costs of post-undergraduate studies. Eligible applicants must have graduated from a DeKalb County high school but do not need to currently live in DeKalb County, IL.

African American Aspire to Greatness Scholarship

Awards:

• One time award of $1,000.

Cherokee Nation Foundation

The Cherokee Nation Foundation is a nonprofit organization serving the Cherokee Nation, a federally recognized tribe of more than 470,000 citizens. Its mission is to provide educational opportunities to Cherokee students so they can reach their full potential. The Cherokee Nation Foundation is a tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Scholarships

Cherokee Nation Foundation offers a diverse range of scholarships to help reverse the trend of rising student debt. Students may receive up to two CNF scholarships per academic year. All opportunities are reserved for Cherokee Nation citizens, unless otherwise noted in the description.

Peruzzi Family Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA and enroll full time in a four-year, higher education institution. This is a one-year scholarship reserved for Cherokee Nation citizens residing within the Cherokee Nation jurisdictional area.
