The Carroll County Community Foundation is pleased to announce the release of its 2026 Impact Grant Opportunity. This one-time funding opportunity is centered around a key question: How do you make life better for the people of Carroll County? We invite nonprofit organizations to propose bold, meaningful, and actionable ideas that create measurable impact for residents.

This grant program reflects our belief that community challenges are best addressed through strategic investment in nonprofit partners who understand the needs of local residents and have the operational capacity to implement meaningful, sustainable solutions. We invite those nonprofit partners to submit proposals through this opportunity for impact. Proposals should describe how the project will address priority areas, serve Carroll County residents, be implemented effectively, and sustain long-term impact when possible. We also encourage multi-agency partnerships that tackle complex challenges through shared resources, leadership, and vision.

2026 Veterans and Nature Grant

Supporting the health, well-being, and community connection of America's veterans

The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) is pleased to announce grant funding supported by the American Medical Association (AMA) to expand access to nature-based experiences that support the health, well-being, and community connection of America's veterans. AMA has partnered with NEEF to bring an evidence-based health perspective to this effort, underscoring the growing body of research linking time in nature to improved physical and mental health outcomes.

Background

A Pew Research Center survey found that roughly one in four veterans say the transition back to civilian life was at least somewhat difficult. This is especially true for those who return home with stress or trauma. The National Alliance on Mental Illness estimates 11-20% of veterans are believed to experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) each year.

Nature offers profound restorative benefits for veterans navigating the challenges of post-service life. Time spent outdoors — whether hiking, fishing, camping, or simply sitting among trees — has been shown by numerous studies to reduce symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression, conditions that affect veterans at disproportionately high rates.

Quieting hypervigilance, allowing space for reflection, fostering camaraderie, and reducing isolation are all mental and physical benefits that be found through outdoor recreation. Using America’s public lands to do so provides a powerful and accessible path forward.

Overview

Through the 2026 Veterans and Nature grant, NEEF aims to expand access to nature-based experiences that support veteran health, well-being, and community connection by

• Providing opportunities for outdoor activities on public land that improve the physical and mental health of veterans
• Increasing veterans’ understanding of the physical and mental health benefits of time in nature

The grant will provide up to $10,000 per grantee for projects on federal, state, local, or nonprofit public lands that address physical and mental health in veteran communities.

Examples of project types include outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking, climbing, or fishing; wellness activities, such as forest bathing or meditation; environmental education, such as community science; adaptive programming; and conservation volunteering. Projects are not limited to those listed here.

Responsive Fund

The goal of the Responsive Fund RFP is to address immediate, emerging, or unanticipated needs within the community, recognizing that opportunities to build resilience require dedicated funding.

2) In-Kind Support for Sustainability Consultations and Capacity Building

Participants in this program will receive 1:1 consulting services tailored to an organization’s identified needs. Interact for Health will work with local consultants and community partners based on needs shared by grantee organizations.

Examples of needs include the following:

• Scenario planning  
• Legal support 
• Sustainability and development planning and implementation
• Diversified funding strategies and implementation
• Exploring collaboration, partnerships/alliances, shared services, and/or mergers
• Strategic planning and revisions 

Sustainability Consultations will include up to 30 hours of 1:1 support and will begin in late 2026. 

DOH58850 Ohio Medical Residency Support RFP

The Ohio Legislature, through the Ohio Department of Health, is investing annual funds to support graduate medical education residency positions in family medicine and psychiatry, strengthening Ohio’s physician workforce and expanding access to care statewide.

Project Objective:

• Expand Residency Training Capacity in Ohio - Increase the number of state-funded medical residency slots particularly in primary care and psychiatry by allocating an additional $2 million in the state budget to address the gap between medical school graduates and available residency positions.
• Retain Ohio-Trained Medical Graduates - Improve physician retention rates by ensuring that more Ohio medical graduates can complete their residency training within the state, thereby increasing the likelihood that they will remain and practice in Ohio after training.
• Strengthen the Physician Workforce Pipeline - Build a sustainable physician workforce by prioritizing residency training opportunities that meet Ohio’s healthcare needs, especially in underserved and high-demand areas such as mental health and primary care.
• Enhance Patient Access to Care -Reduce barriers to healthcare access across Ohio by increasing the number of practicing physicians, ensuring that communities particularly rural and underserved regions have sufficient access to timely, highquality medical services.

The LifeCare Health Care Fund Grants, managed by the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, aim to support nonprofit organizations in Roseau County with financial assistance for health-related projects and services. These grants focus on initiatives like diabetes care, cancer support, and wellness programs, promoting better health outcomes in the community. Eligible nonprofit applicants can request funding from various specialized endowment funds to address pressing healthcare needs and enhance community well-being.

The Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital Community Grant Program aims to support organizations enhancing community health through collaborative practices in Manitowoc County. Grants up to $25,000 are available for non-profits addressing priority health needs and social determinants, focusing on underserved populations. The program encourages initiatives that improve health status, promote education, employment, safety, and foster collaboration among organizations while aligning with community health improvement priorities.

The Froedtert Hospital Community Investment Fund aims to enhance community health in Milwaukee County through collaborative, evidence-based projects. Grants start at $10,000, with funding not exceeding 40% of the total budget, ensuring financial stability. Priority is given to programs addressing health needs and supporting underserved populations. Eligible applicants include IRS tax-exempt organizations that contribute to improving health through education, employment, safety, and wellness initiatives, while fostering collaboration among community organizations.

The Froedtert West Bend Hospital Healthy Community Fund aims to enhance community health in Washington County by supporting programs that address priority health needs and social determinants. This fund prioritizes non-profit organizations focused on underserved populations, fostering collaborative efforts that improve health outcomes. Qualifying projects include health education, job training, and community safety initiatives. The fund excludes individual benefit requests and political campaigns, ensuring resources are directed toward community-wide health improvements.

The Community Outreach Steering Committee Grant aims to enhance community health in Waukesha County by funding non-profit organizations that focus on evidence-based practices. This grant supports initiatives that address social determinants of health, foster collaboration, and specifically benefit marginalized communities. Eligible projects may include educational, employment, health, and safety programs that improve overall health outcomes. Note that funding is not provided for individual benefits or political campaigns.

The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey is launching the 2025 Arts & Community Health Grant to promote art's role in enhancing community health. This initiative seeks innovative arts programs that encourage healthy behaviors, raise health awareness, and foster dialogue about key health issues. Eligible applicants include arts organizations in New Jersey that engage in health-focused programming. The Foundation aims to empower communities through creative solutions that address health challenges effectively.

The Pittsburgh Foundation offers Basic Needs Grants focused on Physical Health to improve community well-being. Established in 1945, it prioritizes health equity by funding programs that address barriers to accessing quality healthcare. Grants aim to support low-income individuals, particularly BIPOC communities disproportionately affected by health disparities. The Foundation provides financial assistance for essential services including physical, dental, and mental health care, ensuring that all residents have equitable access to health resources.

The Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation is committed to enhancing health in Wisconsin by funding medical education and public health initiatives. Established in 1955, it supports physician-led programs that address health disparities, improve access to mental health services, and promote disease prevention. Preference is given to evidence-based projects with measurable outcomes that foster health equity. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity that prioritizes strategic, high-impact initiatives to benefit the community.

The Community Benefit Initiative Reinvestment (CBIR) Grant is designed to enhance healthcare access in Eastern Oregon. Funded by the Eastern Oregon Coordinated Care Organization, this initiative supports one-year projects focusing on specific healthcare improvements. Eligible applicants include various organizations like healthcare providers and food banks, addressing needs such as health technology and primary care access. The Community Benefit Initiative Reinvestment (CBIR) Grant, offered by the Eastern Oregon Coordinated Care Organization, supports one-year projects aimed at improving healthcare access for Eastern Oregonians. Eligible applicants, including public health departments, can propose initiatives targeting early childhood trauma, pre- and post-partum care, and data collection for health metrics. Technical assistance is required before application submission, ensuring applicants are well-prepared to enhance community health outcomes.

The Community Benefit Initiative Reinvestment (CBIR) Grant supports one-year projects aimed at enhancing healthcare access for Eastern Oregonians, specifically targeting Tribes and Tribal organizations. This initiative, part of EOCCO's funding programs, focuses on improving the health and wellness of tribal members across multiple counties. All applicants must receive prior technical assistance to qualify. For the 2026 cycle, EOCCO offers five unique CBIR opportunities to foster community health improvements.

The Community Benefit Initiative Reinvestment (CBIR) Grant supports one-year projects aimed at enhancing healthcare access in Eastern Oregon. Eligible applicants include healthcare providers and community organizations focused on non-insured services. Technical assistance is mandatory for all applicants. Projects addressing county-specific incentive measures are prioritized. The R.F. and Jessie Shaw Foundation Grant, administered by the East Texas Communities Foundation, supports charities primarily in Rusk County, Texas, focusing on wellness, healthcare, and education. With financial aid of $10,000 for single-year support or $15,000 for multi-year commitments, these grants focus on organizations dedicated to enhancing opportunities for low-income individuals in the areas served. This initiative reflects Holman Enterprises Inc's commitment to community welfare and social responsibility.

The Arnim Brothers Fund provides substantial funding for charitable organizations in its seven-county service area, focusing on medical services, historic preservation, and musical education. With a total funding pool of $960,000 for 2025, the fund offers grants up to $20,000 for general operations or higher amounts for specific projects. Eligible charities must operate within the service area and align with the fund's program areas, while certain restrictions apply to applicants.

The MagMutual Foundation Grant supports 501(c)(3) organizations dedicated to enhancing healthcare access and diversity. It funds initiatives like pro-bono medical care for underserved populations, scholarships for minority medical students, and support for healthcare workers facing challenges. The foundation aims to maximize its positive influence in communities by advocating for policyholders and promoting meaningful changes in medical practices. Eligible applicants must have a policyholder's recommendation and be a registered non-profit.

The Frankenmuth Insurance Foundation Charitable Grant supports qualified charities focused on community betterment and basic human needs. Founded in 2016, it aims to enhance lives through initiatives such as affordable housing, health programs, and the arts. Organizations eligible for funding must be tax-exempt and serve areas where Frankenmuth Insurance operates. The Harrington Cancer and Health Foundation Cancer Grant aims to enhance the health and welfare of the Texas Panhandle's communities. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations and governmental entities, focusing on initiatives that promise successful implementation to improve community well-being.

The Black Fund of Central Texas aims to empower Black-led organizations and strengthen the Black community through targeted investments in various impact areas, including arts, education, health, and advocacy. With over $850,000 granted since 2022, this fund prioritizes fairness and opportunity while fostering collaboration and community growth. In the current cycle, $250,000 will be awarded across 20 grants to eligible nonprofit organizations operating within the Central Texas region, enhancing individual and community prosperity.

The Blepharitis Fund, managed by the HealthWell Foundation, aims to alleviate financial barriers for underinsured patients suffering from blepharitis, an inflammatory condition of the eyelids. This program assists with prescription drug copays and insurance premiums, covering up to $3,500 annually for treatments. With a mission to ensure no patient is deprived of necessary healthcare due to financial constraints, the HealthWell Foundation has provided over $1.2 billion in grants, supporting more than 1.1 million patients since its inception.

This fund provides essential support for prescription copays and premiums, ensuring that patients can access necessary treatments without the stress of financial constraints. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded over $1.2 billion in grants, helping more than 1.1 million patients. The initiative emphasizes the importance of accessible healthcare and aims to improve the quality of life for those affected by this condition.
