York County Community Foundation

York County Community Foundation was founded in 1961 by generous visionaries who saw an opportunity to perpetually support their community by pooling charitable giving, investing it to grow over time and make grants to charity from the earnings on the pooled fund. It wasn’t until 1991 that the Community Foundation made a real push to build its assets so that it could become the kind of leading organization it is today. Donors are the crux of our existence; they are the reason we have been so successful over the years. Today, thanks to encouragement from many community leaders, we have enhanced our mission to include being a community leader and changemaker by working with community stakeholders to leverage our grantmaking and expertise for powerful community improvement.

Field of Study Scholarships

Through the Community Foundation, our donors have established scholarship funds focused on a specific field of study. Each scholarship expresses our donors' deep commitment to helping York County students achieve their educational goals.

Caitlin Riddle-Rizzardo Education Scholarship Fund

Through the Caitlin Riddle-Rizzardo Education Scholarship Fund, Caitlin’s legacy of imparting a love of learning will continue for aspiring educators. This fund honors the memory of a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and teacher, to ensure her passion for education is never forgotten.

Scholarships from this fund are available to high school seniors at South Western High School or Dallastown Area High School who are pursuing a degree in education, with a preference for students pursuing an early childhood (K-4) education degree.

The Browning Education Scholarship, offered by Montana State University, provides financial assistance to undergraduate students from Browning, Montana who demonstrate academic excellence. With a minimum 2.5 GPA requirement, this scholarship supports students pursuing their degrees and helps them achieve their educational goals. Montana State University is dedicated to making higher education accessible through various merit scholarships and waivers, ensuring a valuable educational experience for deserving students.

The Names Family Foundation, established by Scott and Sis Names in 1996, is dedicated to enhancing community health and wellness through sports and physical education. Inspired by their humble beginnings, the foundation supports nonprofit organizations that promote healthy lifestyles and athletic opportunities, primarily in the Pierce County region. Their philanthropic commitment reflects the belief that everyone deserves access to sports and the chance to lead a healthy life, impacting lives today and for future generations.

The Clovis Community Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations aimed at enhancing culture, arts, and recreation in Clovis. With a maximum award of $10,000, projects must directly benefit Clovis citizens and focus on capital facilities or programs. Eligible applicants must have a tax ID, submit a concise proposal, and include letters of support. The RIF: Basic Human Needs Grants provide crucial support to community agencies in Rhode Island, offering up to $5,000 for emergency assistance programs. The Ryan Jones Animal Welfare Grant, established in memory of Ryan Jones, supports animal welfare organizations in Shiawassee County. The Memorial Healthcare and Memorial Healthcare Foundation Community Health and Education Fund supports health outreach programs for residents of Shiawassee County. Established in memory of local soldiers from World War I, this fund aids non-profits, schools, and governmental entities that provide charitable services. Memorial Healthcare serves over 88,000 residents through its main hospital and satellite locations, ensuring access to high-quality health services in the region.

The PFC Shane W. Cantu Memorial Fund honors the memory of a brave soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan. Established by his mother, Jennifer Clarke, the fund supports veterans' programs and projects in Shiawassee County, ensuring Shane's legacy lives on. This grant provides vital funding to qualifying organizations, including non-profits, schools, and municipalities, dedicated to serving those who served our country. 2026 Patrick Eldon Bergman Memorial Scholarship

The Rep. Steve Bratcher 25th District Scholarship, offered by the Central Kentucky Community Foundation, aims to support students from Hardin County with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. This scholarship encourages local residents to pursue higher education by providing financial assistance, helping to foster community development and educational advancement in the region.

The 2025-2026 Kickstart Kids Grant Program, provided by the Texas Education Agency, aims to support martial arts initiatives that foster character and life skills in middle and high school students. This program includes specific guidelines for funding, such as limiting direct administrative costs to 15% of the award and requiring detailed expenditure reporting. Eligible applicants are encouraged to adhere to the guidelines to ensure effective use of funds.

The Texas Education Agency is initiating the 2025-2026 Board of Managers Support project to enhance educational governance. This initiative will provide vital training, observational interviews, and capacity-building resources for prospective Board of Managers. By collaborating with the Director of Governance Interventions, the selected applicant will ensure that all activities align with established standards, fostering sustainable systems for improved educational outcomes in Texas.

The National Foundation for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers funding to support administrative expenses that bolster CDC's mission. This initiative enhances partnerships to address health threats both domestically and globally. Projects funded through this grant align with CDC's strategic goals, focusing on measurable outcomes such as program support and participation from various CDC Centers and Offices. Importantly, this grant only supports non-research activities.

The Seeds For Stewardship Grant by the CHS Foundation aims to enhance agricultural leadership and improve rural community safety. This initiative supports member cooperatives and local organizations with matching grants, fostering innovative projects that benefit rural America. Eligible applicants can receive up to $10,000 annually, promoting priority areas such as agricultural education and farmer well-being. The program has positively impacted over 200 communities, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and community investment in rural development.

The Kiwanis Foundation of Houston, established in 1966, supports charitable efforts of the Kiwanis Club of Houston. With contributions from club members, the foundation has grown to a corpus of approximately $4,000,000. Its mission is to enhance the well-being of the community through various grants and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of individuals and families in the Houston area.

Mission The mission of the Grants Linking University–wide Expertise (GLUE) awards is to support “the planning and team building across campuses to develop of large multi-investigator and/or multi-project, milestone-driven, translational research teams who are planning to eventually submit a multi-year extramural grant applications with annual budgets of $300K or higher in direct costs per year”. 

IU Grant Linking Universitywide Expertise (GLUE) Award

• The GLUE funding is available to collaborative teams where the lead PI of the research team is from IUB, and the other members of the team are from Indiana CTSI affiliate campuses.
• Applications are expected to have a maximum requested amount $100,000 per year for up to two years.
• The projects are expected to typically bring together two or more distinct scientific expert teams who will develop appropriate administrative and technical ‘core’ supports
• Applications for GLUE grants are accepted for review at any stage of their development.
• It is expected that these planning/seed grants will increase multidisciplinary collaborations, institutional competitiveness, opportunities for extramurally funded training grants and overall institutional funding.
• The GLUE funding is available to collaborative teams where the lead PI of the research team is from Indiana University Bloomington (IUB), and the other members of the team are from CTSI affiliate campuses. 

About Judy Tyree Obaugh

For decades, Judy Tyree Obaugh served her community with warmth, creativity, and professionalism as a skilled hairdresser. She learned her craft under the tutelage of Boyd & Rose Thompson, founders of the Staunton School of Cosmetology in 1956. She worked for Boyd’s Hairdressers both in Staunton and Waynesboro for over thirty years until Mr. Thompson closed the Waynesboro shop. Judy is currently working and has done hair for residents at Summit Square Retirement Community in Waynesboro for over 20 years.

Judy Tyree Obaugh Scholarship ScholarshipThe Judy Tyree Obaugh Scholarship supports students from Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta County who are enrolled in the Staunton School of Cosmetology and demonstrate financial need to complete their training. By removing financial barriers, this scholarship helps aspiring cosmetologists carry forward Judy’s legacy of service and style.

The Carlson Music Scholarship at Montana State University supports students pursuing a degree in music. To qualify, applicants must have completed the School of Music scholarship audition and be enrolled in applicable programs. This scholarship aims to foster talent in the arts, particularly for those participating in music ensembles. MSU, a historic institution established in 1893, emphasizes transformative education and outreach, enhancing community access to higher education.

The Regional Foundation Responsive Grants provide urgent financial support to current or former grantees facing unforeseen, time-sensitive challenges. Grants, up to $25,000, are intended for tactical or strategic needs arising from emergencies, disasters, or critical changes within communities. Examples include natural disasters impacting neighborhoods or sudden leadership transitions. However, requests for ongoing operational costs or event sponsorships are not eligible. The application process is designed for quick turnaround, typically within one week.

The MEEA Environmental Educator Mini-Grant supports educators in Missouri by providing funding for innovative environmental education projects. Established in 2013, this grant program awards eight grants of $250 each annually to enhance sustainability education. Open to all MEEA professional members, it prioritizes proposals that engage underrepresented groups in environmental learning. Funded by Debby Barker in memory of her husband, Lou Clairmont, this initiative aims to inspire and educate while promoting conservation efforts across the state.

This scholarship is for a graduate of MHS, Columbus or Marshfield Alternative School who is enrolled at UWSP at Marshfield full-time pursuing an undergraduate degree. Preference to student majoring in business or economics and student who shows academic merit, character, and motivation.

This scholarship is for a graduating high school senior attending an accredited school full-time, located in WI or MN pursuing an undergraduate degree. Preference goes to a student who shows a passion for visual arts, like painting, drawing, photography, etc. Student shows academic merit, character, and motivation.

The John P. Previti Memorial Foundation Grant offers funding to non-profit organizations in Riverside and San Bernardino counties that focus on supporting at-risk youth. Grants, ranging from $1,000 to $10,000, are awarded to projects that provide essential services such as education, health, and basic needs. Eligible organizations must have 501(c)(3) status and align with the foundation's mission to uplift underprivileged youth and families in the community.

Marshfield Area Community Foundation Scholarships

International Studies Scholarship

This scholarship is for students attaining any post-secondary degree. Student must have taken a world language for 3 years (high school applicants) or 3 semesters (college applicants). Preference to students majoring in International Studies, Cultural Studies, or any World Language. This scholarship can be renewed for up to 3 years if the applicant still meets the criteria.
