Scholarships

The DeKalb County Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture is proud to offer numerous scholarships for high school seniors and college students. Preference will be given to applicants of Farm Bureau members or their children with certain eligibility requirements.

College Students Scholarships 

The DeKalb County Farm Bureau Foundation endeavors to recognize students for their academic, school and community performance while in college. The recognition is in the form of a scholarship to the student’s school of choice. The scholarship award will be sent directly to the recipient’s school to be applied toward college costs. 

Arden & Dorothy Baie Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Arden and Dorothy Baie. The Baie Scholarship is available to college sophomores, juniors and seniors pursuing any field of study. One, $2,400 will be awarded to a deserving student.

The Ottawa Valley Chapter Scholarship, sponsored by the American Society of Heating Refrigerating & A C Engineers, supports full-time undergraduate students in mechanical, architectural, sustainability, or building science engineering. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and meet specific criteria such as being enrolled at institutions with recognized ASHRAE student branches or accredited programs. This scholarship encourages those aiming for careers in the HVAC&R profession, promoting a sustainable built environment.

Perkins Grant

The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) became effective on July 1, 2019. This Act reauthorizes the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (Perkins IV). Perkins V is largely based on the structure and content of Perkins IV and remains the most important piece of legislation affecting career and technical education (CTE) in Illinois. The purpose of the law is to develop more fully the academic knowledge and technical and employability skills of secondary and postsecondary education students who elect to enroll in CTE programs and programs of study. Perkins V facilitates this by placing a greater emphasis on the following areas:

• Local flexibility
• Comprehensive stakeholder engagement and collaborative planning
• Innovation
• Accountability
• Alignment with other education and workforce programs

The Dr. D. Walter Cohen Teaching Award, provided by the American Academy of Periodontology, offers a $10,000 grant to support new periodontal educators. This funding aims to facilitate their entry into teaching and research careers in periodontal education. Eligible candidates must be in their third year of an accredited periodontal post-doctoral training program in the U.S. and demonstrate a strong commitment to education and research in this field.

The Northern Albemarle Community Foundation Grant Program supports local nonprofit organizations in Camden, Gates, Perquimans, and Pasquotank Counties with annual grants ranging from $500 to $3,000. This initiative addresses community needs and enhances quality of life. The program accepts applications from 501(c)(3) organizations and local government units, including fire and rescue departments, ensuring inclusive support for a variety of community services. However, grants are not available for capital campaigns, political activities, or religious initiatives.

The Studio Glass Grant, offered by the Arizona Glass Alliance, supports the creation and appreciation of studio art glass. This grant welcomes proposals year-round that align with the AGA's mission to promote education and outreach in the glass art community. Preference is given to Arizona-based applicants and AGA members. Recipients are encouraged to share their experiences through a talk within a year of receiving the grant, highlighting their accomplishments with the funding.

The Virginia Agricultural BMP Cost-Share (VACS) Program offers financial assistance for conservation practices on agricultural lands, significantly reducing landowner expenses. Eligible participants can receive up to $300,000 annually to implement practices that enhance water quality and farm productivity. Applicants must apply through local soil and water conservation districts, with priority given to plans that align with local water quality guidelines. This program aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices across Virginia.

The Kansas Hero's Scholarship provides tuition waivers for eligible dependents and spouses of deceased or disabled public safety officers and military personnel attending public postsecondary institutions in Kansas. This scholarship is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, and applicants should submit their applications early as funding is limited. Waivers only cover tuition and required fees for undergraduate courses, with students responsible for other academic costs.

The Baptist Health Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction Fellowship offers comprehensive training in surgical management of hip and knee arthritis. With a focus on both primary and revision procedures, fellows gain expertise in advanced techniques including robotics and custom replacements. The program emphasizes patient care and encourages participation in clinical research. Fellows work closely with experienced faculty and engage in didactic sessions, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience tailored for those pursuing careers in orthopedic surgery.

The CBT Environmental Education Grant Program, funded by the Chesapeake Bay Trust, offers $290,000 for Fiscal Year 2026 to support environmental literacy initiatives in Maryland. Eligible applicants include higher education institutions, nonprofits, and public agencies. The program aims to enhance students' knowledge and motivation to engage in responsible environmental stewardship through projects like Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEE) and capacity-building efforts. Grants of up to $40,000 are available for projects lasting up to three years.

The Kansas State Scholarship supports financially needy students in the top 40-50% of Kansas high school graduates. Eligible seniors must complete the FAFSA and the State of Kansas Student Aid Application. Awarded scholars can receive up to $1,000 annually, renewable for up to four years based on financial need. Scholars must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester to remain eligible for funding.

The Military-Civilian Charitable Foundation Grant aims to promote patriotism and bridge the gap between military and civilian communities in San Antonio, TX. It provides scholarships for children of active and retired military personnel and supports organizations that assist military families. The foundation also funds the Military Ambassador Program to enhance the profile of military service in Texas. Grantees must be 501(c)3 nonprofits or government-connected entities that serve military members and their families.

Margaret Ford Smucker and Lloyd K. Smucker Scholarship Fund

The fund was established in memory of Margaret Ford and Lloyd K. Smucker by their son, John L. Smucker. Margaret and Lloyd Smucker lived most of their adult lives in Medina County, and Margaret Smucker taught in the Medina County public schools for many of those years. This fund provides scholarships annually to assist economically disadvantaged graduates of high schools in Medina County, Ohio to continue their education through college.

The Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) provides crucial federal funding for outdoor recreation projects in Iowa, supporting 50% cost share for development and land acquisition. It has facilitated popular projects such as skate parks, playgrounds, and multipurpose trails since its establishment in 1964. Applicants should anticipate a timeline of 12-24 months from application to the start of construction, ensuring thorough planning and execution of their recreational initiatives.

The Three-year NOMIS–STRI Postdoctoral Fellowships in Sociality in the Tropics offer a unique opportunity for outstanding behavioral biologists to conduct research on sociality in Panama's diverse ecosystems. Funded by the NOMIS Foundation and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, these fellowships provide a yearly stipend of $62,000 and up to $13,000 for research and travel. Successful candidates will explore essential questions related to group living and social diversity, enhancing our understanding of animal societies.

Kenneth B. Creasy Speech and Debate Scholarship

The scholarship was created to honor the late Kenneth B. Creasy, who died unexpectedly in June of 1992. Mr. Creasy was a former social studies teacher and speech and debate coach at Olentangy and Hayes high schools in Delaware County, Ohio.

Award Amount:

• One $5,000 scholarship for a graduating high school senior. 
• One $5,000 scholarship for a current college student.

Ingram-White Castle Team Member Scholarship 

The Ingram-White Castle Foundation established its scholarship in 1989 to honor founder Billy Ingram’s core belief in the importance of investment in learning and education. The scholarship may be used for any educational expenses for full-time or part-time study at any accredited public or independent college or university in the United States.

Award Amount:

• $2,500 to $3,500

The Runschke Family Scholarship, established by Gernot and Anne Runschke, supports students from Northwest Ottawa County pursuing vocational or trades programs. It aims to empower local youth by easing educational costs, while emphasizing community involvement and academic potential. Financial need is not a primary consideration, allowing a diverse range of applicants to qualify. This scholarship reflects the Runschke family's commitment to enhancing education and workforce development in their community.

Batts Family Scholarship

Graduating senior or graduating early college student who attends public, private, or home school in the primary service area of the Community Foundation.

Zeeland Rotary – Donald Morgan Memorial Scholarship

Graduating senior who resides in the Zeeland Public School District (student does not have to attend Zeeland Public Schools to be eligible).

The KCF Scholarships - Cropley Scholarship Fund provides three one-time scholarships of $2,000 each to eligible Kenosha residents. Applicants must be undergraduates enrolled at an accredited Wisconsin college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have completed at least one year of study. This initiative, managed by the Kenosha Community Foundation, aims to support local students in their pursuit of higher education.

The Hernandez Family Scholarship Fund, administered by the Kenosha Community Foundation, supports local students originating from Kenosha, Racine, or Walworth County. Eligible applicants include high school seniors and college students enrolled in undergraduate programs, who demonstrate financial need through FAFSA completion and plan to study business or a related field. This scholarship marks its inaugural year, aiming to empower the next generation of leaders in the region.

The Howard J. Brown Scholarship Fund, administered by the Kenosha Community Foundation, provides three scholarships of $2,000 each to local undergraduate students. Applicants must be residents of Kenosha County, have completed at least one year of study at an accredited Wisconsin college or university, and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher. This fund is dedicated to supporting educational opportunities for deserving students in the community.

The ASHRAE Toronto Chapter Scholarship offers financial support to full-time undergraduate students in mechanical, architectural, sustainability, building science, or engineering technology fields at post-secondary institutions in the Greater Toronto Area. Eligible applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and meet specific criteria, such as being part of a recognized ASHRAE student branch or enrolled in an accredited program. This scholarship encourages the next generation of HVAC&R professionals.

Benjamin H. Van Andel Promise of Excellence Scholarship

This scholarship recognizes and supports exceptionally talented students in any field who exhibit the gifts and passion to be world class leaders, performers, or artists in their area of giftedness.

Bob and Brenda Soeters Family Scholarship

Graduating senior or graduating early college student who attends public, private, or home school in the primary service area of the Community Foundation.

Brooks Family First Generation Scholarship

Graduating senior or graduating early college student from one of the following high schools: Black River, Holland High School, West Ottawa, Zeeland East, or Zeeland West.
