The UWGNB Community Impact Grants aim to enhance local communities by funding projects focused on Healthy Community and Child and Youth Opportunity. This initiative prioritizes access to basic needs, mental health, and youth development programs. Eligible applicants include non-profits and public entities, with one application allowed per organization. The funding supports programs that foster health and learning, ultimately helping individuals and families thrive in the Greater New Bedford area.

The EBSCO Community Impact Grant Program supports initiatives in education, environment, human services, and arts and culture. This grant is available to 501(c)(3) organizations serving specific counties in Alabama. Applicants may submit a Letter of Inquiry, but full proposals are by invitation only. EBSCO is dedicated to enhancing community well-being through innovative programs that promote equitable education, environmental protection, and access to basic human services.

Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research

The Asia-Pacific region, home to over half the world's population, faces challenges due to its development goals, which strain natural resources, communities, and cultural heritage. These issues are exacerbated by adverse environmental changes. While research has shed light on these problems, it's clear that more challenges lie ahead. The Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) is well-positioned to generate new knowledge and solutions for these evolving global change and sustainability issues by supporting collaborative research and scientific capacity development activities, particularly those aimed at training the next generation of early career professionals.

APN 2025 Call for Proposals: CAPaBLE Programmes

CAPaBLE, our scientific capacity development programme, aims to enhance the capacity of scientists, policymakers and practitioners to assess global change issues, and explore options to resolve issues towards achieving sustainability. Through CAPaBLE, we support activities that enhance capacity at individual, organizational and systemic levels.

Activities of interest under the CAPaBLE Programme

APN supports CAPaBLE activities that enhance existing capacities of developing countries at three levels of individual-based capacity development; group, organisation, network-based capacity development; and societies, governance, and system level capacity development. APN accepts CAPaBLE proposals that engage 1 or more member/approved countries. Proposals must address one or more of the following activities:

SCIENTIFIC CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES that promote the following approaches related to one or more of the six thematic areas of APN:

• Utilising and strengthening existing capacity, 
• Creating opportunities to use/instil capacity, 
• Developing new capacity through innovative approaches.

AWARENESS-RAISING AND DISSEMINATION activities through policy- and decision-making communities, civil society, and/or the general public.

SCIENCE-POLICY interfacing in the context of the priority topics.

CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIP ACTIVITIES that contribute to the capacity development components of the evolving global change arena, including the UNFCCC Paris Agreement, IPCC, IPBES, post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals, Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, and the UN Decade of Ocean Science, and ongoing and new global change and sustainability research programmes.

The Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) program, established under the HEARTH Act of 2009, provides crucial funding to local governments for rehabilitating homeless shelters and financing essential services related to these shelters. Eligible entities include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with at least two years of operation. The City of Orlando expects to allocate approximately $194,000 for homelessness prevention, rapid re-housing, and emergency shelter operations, ensuring a comprehensive approach to addressing homelessness in the community.

The Wayne County Children's Resource Fund offers grants to nonprofit organizations aiming to eliminate barriers that hinder children's potential, such as poverty and discrimination. Grants support programs and projects that provide lasting solutions and community benefits. Eligible applicants must be recognized as tax-exempt organizations, while the fund does not support deficit financing or scholarships. The Foundation is dedicated to ensuring effective use of resources for children's welfare in Wayne County, Ohio.

The Anschutz Family Foundation Grant supports programs that enhance self-sufficiency and community development for economically disadvantaged individuals in Colorado. With a focus on helping families, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities, the foundation provides grants typically ranging from $5,000 to $10,000. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charities or government entities. The foundation encourages alignment with its mission and requires demonstrated financial need and a solid track record of success.

The Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership (APNEP) offers funding for projects focused on community engagement and stewardship aimed at enhancing environmental literacy and volunteerism in the Albemarle-Pamlico region. Grants typically range from $40,000 to $80,000, supporting initiatives that foster stewardship, promote outdoor experiences, and address environmental inequities, ensuring diverse community involvement in protecting local ecosystems.

The Fund for the Arts: Event Artist program invites artists and organizations from the Greater Louisville area to participate in community events. This initiative aims to create a diverse roster of artistic talent, compensating participants for their contributions. Artists can engage in various events, from large public festivals to intimate performances. Applicants must align with the Fund's commitment to equity and inclusion, ensuring a vibrant arts scene that reflects the community's diversity.

The Chi-Cal Rivers Fund Grant, administered by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, aims to enhance the waterways of the Chicago and Calumet region. The program supports projects under three main categories: habitat quality improvement, stormwater solution expansion, and activation of restored natural areas, encouraging strategic investments for ecological resilience.

The DeKalb County Human Services Grant Program supports local non-profits focused on improving community welfare. Eligible organizations must have 501(c)(3) status and operate for at least two years, serving DeKalb residents in priority areas such as youth development, crisis intervention, and public health. The program aims to enhance public safety and advocate for vulnerable populations, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to foster sustainable communities.

The Santander Charitable Sponsorship Program focuses on supporting low- to moderate-income communities primarily in the Northeast and Florida. With a commitment of $100 million in charitable giving, the program addresses key community development needs, including affordable housing, job creation, financial education, and disaster relief. Eligible organizations must have IRS 501(c)(3) status or be public agencies, demonstrating capacity to meet community needs. Unsolicited applications are not accepted.

The Denver Children's Foundation (DCF) has been pivotal in transforming the lives of at-risk children in Colorado for over 30 years. Focused on education, health, advocacy, and personal growth, DCF provides strategic grants to organizations that effectively address the challenges faced by disadvantaged youth. By fostering partnerships, DCF helps create opportunities for children to thrive, ensuring they have access to essential resources and support that promote their overall development and well-being.

The SBM Charitable Foundation Grant aims to enhance the quality of life for residents in Hartford, Tolland, and Windham Counties through funding programs in health, education, human services, housing, and the arts. Eligible organizations must be tax-exempt or municipalities, focusing on community benefit. The Foundation prioritizes educational scholarships and health programs, emphasizing direct services and broad-based community projects. Applications are accepted annually, promoting accessibility and support for local initiatives.

The Hind Foundation Standard Grant supports impactful community projects in California since 2006. Funding areas include ecosystem conservation, historical landmark restoration, music and visual arts, wildlife protection, and land conservation. Eligible nonprofit organizations must be California-based, have a 501(c)(3) designation, and demonstrate community support. Projects must provide lasting benefits, align with funding areas, and secure adequate matching funds. Grants are not available for previously funded projects or for educational and administrative costs.

The Great American Cleanup Grants, offered by Keep America Beautiful, aim to enhance community beautification and environmental efforts across the U.S. This initiative encourages KAB affiliates to remove litter, plant greenery, and restore public spaces, contributing to the larger goal of cleaning up 25 billion pieces of litter by 2026. With cash grants available, this program fosters collaboration among communities, promoting sustainable practices and a cleaner, greener future for all.

The Weston Family Boreal Research Fellowship, supported by the Wildlife Conservation Society Canada, offers financial assistance to graduate students conducting field-based research in the Ontario Northern Boreal and Northern Boreal Mountains. This fellowship encourages projects that align with WCS Canada's conservation objectives and that collaborate with Indigenous communities. Successful applicants will benefit from mentorship and networking opportunities, while contributing to significant conservation efforts in North America's boreal regions.

The US Department of Health & Human Services, through the NIH, invites applications for innovative approaches to implement SBIRT/P for addressing alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use in adults facing health disparities. This funding opportunity encourages research that tests screening, brief interventions, and referrals for treatment or prevention services. Applications are due on specified deadlines from February 2024 through March 2027, fostering collaboration with healthcare and community partners to enhance public health outcomes.

The Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC)’s Commonwealth Commercialization Fund (CCF) Higher Education (HE) Proof-of-Concept (POC) program provides grant funding to Virginia’s public and private colleges and universities and eligible nonprofit Virginia-based research institutes. Applicants may request $75,000 or $150,000, depending on the designated track, to support translation Virginia research-derived innovations into commercial products. Applicants with technologies at a more advanced technology readiness level (TRL) and/or deemed by VIPC to have exceptional strategic value for Virginia may be invited to seek up to $300,000. Each grant requires a minimum one-to-one match and is expected to support the achievement of two to three key milestones during the period of performance (typically 6-15 months). 

The PGE Foundation's Career Pathways Grant Program aims to enhance economic mobility for Oregonians by providing support for programs that facilitate access to family-wage jobs and entrepreneurship. This initiative prioritizes nonprofit organizations focused on skill development, mentorship, and wrap-around services. The foundation is particularly interested in proposals that address barriers faced by underrepresented communities, including BIPOC and women-owned businesses, and encourages collaborative efforts among nonprofits to achieve measurable outcomes.

The Mellon Foundation's Economic Development Grant Program aims to address economic disparities in Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania by enhancing workforce skills and creating job opportunities. The program focuses on talent development, workforce systems, and community building, advocating for innovative education and training that aligns with future job markets. It seeks proposals that promote 21st-century skills, foster entrepreneurship, and support underrepresented groups, ultimately driving economic independence and community vitality.

About Us

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is responsible for protecting and restoring Maine's natural resources and enforcing the state's environmental laws. The agency can trace its roots back to the Sanitary Water Board that was created in 1941. The purpose of that Board was to study, investigate, recommend means of eliminating and preventing pollution in waters used for recreational purposes. The Board was renamed the Water Improvement Commission in 1951. In 1969, the Commission's title was abbreviated to the Environmental Improvement Commission.

Solid Waste Diversion Grant Program

The Maine Legislature established the Maine Solid Waste Diversion Grant Program to provide grants to public and private entities to assist in the development, implementation or improvement of programs, projects, initiatives or activities designed to increase the diversion of solid waste from disposal in the State.

Funding will be considered for proposals which include, programs, projects or ideas that address, but are not limited to:

• Establishing municipal or regional composting, organics recovery or recycling programs,
• urchasing infrastructure, equipment or other items necessary to implement such programs or improve existing programs,
• Programs or projects designed to provide equipment for or otherwise support residential composting and recycling,
• Programs or business models designed to collect, transport for processing or process organic or recyclable materials,
• Pilot programs designed to evaluate the feasibility of targeted composting, organics recovery, recycling or other waste management programs or initiatives, or
• Initiatives or programs designed to educate certain categories of individuals or the general public about composting, organics recovery or recycling or to otherwise improve individual or community waste management practices.

Applications should include information demonstrating how programs will:

• Take advantage of regional economies of scale,
• Increase organics management and recycling infrastructure in underserved areas of the state,
• Promote waste reduction through reuse, repair, and sharing economy initiatives,
• Reduce wasted food through donation or other sharing initiatives,
• Enhance the delivery of educational initiatives to promote organics management or recycling efforts,
• Address a statewide need,
• Reduce “carbon footprint” of existing or proposed waste management programs, and/or
• Expand the types of materials managed through composting and recycling.

The Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program, led by The Minneapolis Foundation, supports community-based nonprofits in the Great Lakes region. With a focus on underserved communities, grants will total $40 million over three years, aiming to enhance environmental health, education, and resilience. The program prioritizes applications from federally recognized tribes and organizations with limited budgets, fostering inclusive community engagement and sustainable development. Eligible projects include environmental assessments, public health initiatives, and job training.

West Virginia Community Advancement and Development

West Virginia Community Advancement and Development works to encourage strong civic engagement through INFRASTRUCTURE, SUSTAINABILITY, COMPLIANCE, and RESILIENCY. WV CAD administers state and federal programs designed to improve the quality of life in West Virginia.

Neighborhood Investment Program

What is NIP?

The Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP) is a tax credit program of $3 million each year, which allows 501(c)3 designated charitable organizations to apply for tax credit vouchers, which began in 1996 with $2 million. When awarded, the organization can distribute the vouchers to business and individuals who contribute a minimum of $500 to organizations, receiving up to 50% in tax credit, allowing the donor or corporation to reduce their West Virginia tax liability no more than 50%. The organizations pay a 3% fee on the donation, which offsets the administrative costs of NIP. 

Benefits of NIP

There are 15,883 non-profits in West Virginia and we assist 200 of them each year with NIP credits, which has leveraged over $143 million in donations since inception.
