The foundation prioritizes organizations with a history of commitment to their mission. They do not support individuals, ensuring grants are directed towards impactful community projects.

Background & Purpose

The California Arts Council (CAC) is a statewide agency committed to serving California artists, arts organizations, and communities of all sizes and needs. Guided by racial equity principles, the CAC continuously evaluates its grantmaking practices to ensure fair and inclusive funding opportunities that sustain a vibrant, safe, and resilient creative ecosystem across the state.

Through regionally based Administering Organizations (AOs), the Individual Artists Fellowship (IAF) program uplifts and celebrates California artists across all disciplines and traditions, highlights their excellence and acknowledges their leadership in shaping traditional and contemporary cultures. The program includes three fellowship tiers with a different award amount:

CAC Emerging Artist Fellows – $5,000

Emerging artists are those in the beginning stages of making their work public and engaging the larger community in their practice.

CAC Established Artist Fellows – $10,000

Artists in the Established tier regularly make their work public and engage the larger community in their practice.

CAC Legacy Artist Fellows – $50,000

Artists in the Legacy tier can point to a significant body of work, produced over a substantial period of time, that has engaged their communities and that has made significant social impact.

The CAC approved eight regional AOs for the fellowship in September 2025. Each of the AOs has information and  details regarding their Individual Artists Fellowship programs, including application deadlines. If you are an individual artist, apply to the statewide fellowship program through the Regional AO listed below that serves your county. Please note: Individual artists must live in the region they are applying to and may submit an application to only one region.

Arts Orange County has been engaged by the California Arts Council to administer the application and jurying process for the Region 7 Individual Artist Fellowship, which includes Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. 

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation focuses on improving economic mobility and social progress through partnerships with nonprofits. It prioritizes basic needs, income creation, stable housing, and community empowerment. By supporting vulnerable populations, the foundation aims to enable individuals to achieve their goals and contribute positively to their communities. The foundation emphasizes sustainable progress, ensuring that all community members have access to essential resources and opportunities for growth.

The Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation offers Local Impact Grants to nonprofit organizations in 11 markets, providing $225,000 to support local programs addressing community issues. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits with a revenue exceeding $100,000 and must operate in one of the specified television markets. The grants aim to empower youth through education, promote diverse storytelling, and enhance community engagement. This initiative underscores Comcast's commitment to fostering inclusion and equitable opportunities for underserved communities.

The Stantec Community Engagement Grant is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in communities where Stantec operates. The Sunwest Bank Charitable Foundation Grant aims to foster a philanthropic corporate culture by supporting local nonprofit organizations focused on the welfare of vulnerable children and families. The Foundation prioritizes cash grants to organizations addressing food, housing, health, safety, and education needs in communities served by Sunwest Bank. Eligible nonprofits must align with the Foundation's mission and engage in a transparent application process, with extra consideration given to organizations where Sunwest employees volunteer.

The PLTW Launch program, in collaboration with Burns and McDonnell, aims to enhance STEM education by expanding access to innovative educational modules in eligible schools. Spectrum Digital Education Grants support nonprofit organizations in educating communities about broadband benefits and usage. These grants aim to bridge the digital divide, particularly for seniors and those with disabilities or ethnically diverse backgrounds. Applicants must demonstrate community partnership, address specific needs, and provide measurable impact metrics. With a focus on financial feasibility and meaningful outcomes, this initiative ensures that underrepresented urban and rural communities gain access to essential digital resources, fostering long-term improvement in their lives.

The Pasadena Art Alliance Grant supports contemporary visual arts in Southern California by funding innovative projects and educational programs. Established in 1955, this independent organization prioritizes grants for unconventional institutions and champions diverse artistic expressions. With over $8 million awarded since 1976, the PAA fosters community engagement and understanding of contemporary art. Preference is given to organizations located in the San Gabriel Valley, ensuring a focused impact on local art initiatives.

Los Cerritos Wetlands Fund Grant

The Long Beach Community Foundation is pleased to offer the Los Cerritos Wetland Fund Grant.

The Los Cerritos Wetlands Fund was formed in 2019 through a collaborative process with representatives from conservation groups, landowners, and business interests. Each of these stakeholders cares about the future and preservation of the Los Cerritos Wetlands and surrounding watersheds.

The goal of this fund is to support projects that conserve, manage, restore, and enhance wetland and upland habitat and facilitate environmental planning, permitting, and public access; advance healthy communities, social equity, and climate resiliency and adaptation; and provide educational and research opportunities.

Changes to any specific line item in the enclosed budget greater than $1,000 or 10% must be approved in writing by LBCF prior to making the change.

Read Conmigo Grant Program

Advancing Dual-Language  Education for Bilingual Students

The Read Conmigo Educator Grants support educators in dual-language (Spanish-English) programs at public and charter elementary schools. Grant applications are accepted twice annually in the spring and the fall.

Each year, The Kemper Foundation awards up to 100 Read Conmigo Educator Grants of $3,000 each. Grant funds must be used towards classroom resources and/or professional development that advance dual-language (Spanish-English) education for bilingual students.

The Jean Griswold Foundation

The Jean Griswold Foundation (JGF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Caregivers through educational opportunities and scholarships. 

Our Mission

The mission of the Jean Griswold Foundation is to support Caregivers by providing educational scholarships* to enable them to further their training, enhance their careers, and better assist the clients they serve.

By offering educational scholarships*, our Foundation will not only make a positive impact on the Caregivers themselves, but also the clients they assist and the home healthcare agencies where they are employed, as well as help advance the overarching home-care industry.

Scholarships will be paid directly to the federally accredited educational institutions of the winning Scholars’ choosing.

Empowering Caregivers Through Education

The Jean Griswold Foundation Scholarship Program awards scholarships to deserving Caregivers who wish to further their education in a care-related field. Applicants do not have to be associated with Griswold in any way, and the funds will be paid directly to the institution where the caregiver will be receiving education.

The Grants for Aquatic Center Education Program aims to enhance boating safety education in California by providing funding to non-profit organizations, colleges, and local agencies. The grants support on-the-water training, covering essential topics such as boating laws and environmental stewardship. Eligible applicants must demonstrate a commitment to safe boating practices and have qualified staff. This initiative promotes public access to waterways while ensuring a safer recreational boating environment.

The Georgia-Pacific Foundation Grant supports organizations in the Metro Atlanta area, focusing on education, entrepreneurship, community enrichment, and environmental sustainability. Established in 1958, the foundation prioritizes investments that align with its mission and values, promoting long-term well-being within communities where Georgia-Pacific operates. Tustin Community Foundation

The Tustin Community Foundation coordinates community resources to create positive change and support the area’s actual and most pressing needs.

Providing grants for local nonprofit organizations and schools is the primary way the Foundation makes an impact. Since 2008, 88 local nonprofit organizations, schools and community wide programs have received grants to help them deal with the ever-changing critical issues facing the community. The Foundation conducts annual Community Needs Assessments to direct grant funds where they are most needed and will make the largest impact.

Tustin Community Support Grant

The Tustin Community Support Grant is administered by the Tustin Community Foundation (“TCF”) in partnership with the City of Tustin.

The purpose of the Tustin Community Support Grant is to support nonprofit organizations and accredited public or private schools that provide programs and services benefiting residents of the greater Tustin area. The program seeks to enhance the quality of life in the Tustin community by funding initiatives that address specific community needs and foster community enrichment.

Use of Grant Funds

Grant funds may be used to support current or planned projects, including the purchase of equipment, supplies, materials, or clearly defined services that advance the applicant organization’s mission and programs.

Funding may be applied to programmatic needs that are identified but not yet funded at the time of application.

All expenditure must be documented with invoices, receipts, or equivalent vendor documentation to ensure transparency and accountability.

Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on:

• Demonstrated benefit to Tustin residents
• Evidence of past service and impact in the Tustin community
• Responsible financial management and oversight
• Ability to address social issues or provide community enrichment

Funds within this category may be distributed among one or more nonprofit organizations. Individual grant awards will represent a portion of the total category allocation and will be determined at the discretion of the TCF Grants Committee and Board of Directors to maximize overall community impact.

Grant recipients may receive less than the amount requested, and partial funding may be awarded.

The NFL Foundation Grassroots Program, in partnership with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), aims to enhance the quality, safety, and accessibility of community football fields. With grants up to $250,000, this initiative addresses the critical lack of safe recreation spaces in low-income neighborhoods, ensuring children and adults have access to well-maintained facilities for gathering and exercise, ultimately fostering community health and well-being.

The Robert and Doreen Marshall Fund for Dramatic Arts and Classical Music, managed by the Orange County Community Foundation, supports dramatic arts and classical music programs in Orange County. This competitive grant program prioritizes funding for opera, choral, and symphonic performances, as well as dramatic arts performance groups and arts education for youth. It reflects the Marshall's enduring commitment to enhancing the cultural landscape through the performing arts.

The San Clemente History, Arts & Culture Fund Grant supports local charities focused on producing and participating in arts and culture activities, including performing arts and arts education. Managed by the Orange County Community Foundation, this grant is part of a permanent endowment established by an anonymous donor to enhance cultural offerings in San Clemente. Applicants are encouraged to contact the Foundation for complete guidelines and eligibility requirements.

The Marisla Foundation, established in 1986, offers a Human Services Grant aimed at supporting women in crisis in Orange County and Los Angeles, California. This grant focuses on enhancing physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing through stable housing, addiction treatment, and vocational training. Eligible organizations must possess 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. The foundation does not support individual applications or multiple submissions from the same organization within a year, ensuring a fair and equitable distribution of resources.

The Community Wetland Restoration Grant Program (CWRGP) offers vital funding for community-driven restoration projects in coastal wetlands and stream corridors across Southern California. This initiative aims to enhance local capacity for planning and executing wetland restoration, while actively involving communities in educational efforts. Eligible applicants include nonprofits and government agencies. By fostering collaboration and engagement, CWRGP strives to support sustainable ecological practices and promote awareness of wetland ecosystems.

The Proposition 68 Technical Assistance Program (TAP) provides crucial support to local communities in California, helping under-resourced applicants access funding for parks and open space projects. TAP offers annual assistance through outreach, mentoring, and resources to facilitate project development, grant writing, and community engagement. By allocating up to 10% of funds for technical assistance to disadvantaged communities, TAP promotes equity in funding access, ensuring that all applicants have the necessary tools to succeed.

The Climate Resilience Grant Program in California aims to enhance community resilience and capacity by funding multi-benefit, nature-based solutions addressing climate change impacts. This initiative prioritizes projects related to urban and non-urban forest resilience, habitat restoration, and wildfire prevention, contributing to California's goal of conserving 30% of its lands and coastal waters by 2030. Grants typically range from $300,000 to $2,000,000, supporting crucial climate adaptation efforts.

The Nissan Foundation Grants support nonprofit organizations that promote cultural diversity and heritage. Established in 1992, the foundation focuses on enhancing community quality of life where Nissan operates. Eligible organizations must have 501(c)(3) status, be active for over three years, and serve specific communities. Ineligible programs include those not aligned with the foundation's mission, such as disease advocacy and political activities. The foundation does not provide multi-year grants, but organizations can reapply for funding in subsequent cycles.

The John W. Mack Movement Building Fellows Program, named after a civil rights leader, supports emerging movement leaders in Southern California. Since 2019, it has empowered 26 fellows with essential skills in leadership, community organizing, and wellness practices. The program emphasizes equity, peer learning, and professional coaching, providing each fellow with a grant of $25,000 to enhance their leadership journey and foster social and racial justice across diverse communities.
