We aim to provide a path for education and/or employment during the day; opportunities for physical and social activity outside of work/school; and the tools to be safe, supported, and informed at all times.

Water Resources Development Grant Program
The purpose of this program is to provide cost-share grants and technical assistance to local governments throughout the state. Applications for grants are accepted for seven eligible project types: general navigation, recreational navigation, water management, stream restoration, water-based recreation, Natural Resources Conservation Service Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) stream restoration projects and feasibility/engineering studies. The navigation and coastal storm damage mitigation projects are collectively referred to as coastal infrastructure projects. The non-navigation projects are collectively referred to as state and local projects.
State & Local Grants
The program is administered by the Division Water Resources (DWR), N.C. Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), 1617 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, N.C., 27699-1617.
The department may provide state funds in amounts not to exceed the percentages stated in G.S. 143-215.71 of either the nonfederal costs (in the case of a project with federal agency funds) or the total costs (in the case of a project not receiving federal funds). The General Assembly placed a 50% cost-share maximum on Water Resources Development Grant awards during their 2020 session. This limit will remain in place until rescinded by the General Assembly. Based on limited annual funding received for grant awards statewide, applicants are encouraged to not exceed a $200,000 funding request ($50,000 for engineering/feasibility studies); however larger awards may be granted on a case-by-case basis. Additionally, it is recommended that administrative costs do not exceed 10% of the total project budget. DWR can issue grants for the nonfederal share of water resources development projects for the following purposes:
Stream Restoration: Restoration, stabilization or enhancement of degraded streams & shorelines, aquatic barrier removals, etc. Refer to the Restoration Types section in the latest version of the NC Land & Water Fund’s Applicant Funding Manual Restoration Program to select the appropriate restoration type to select as a ‘Treatment’ in our application spreadsheet.
Water Management: Stormwater control measures, drainage, flood reduction/resiliency, hydrologic restoration, etc.
Water-based Recreation Sites: Greenways, Trails, Boardwalks; Paddle Access, Fishing Docks/Piers; land acquisition for water-based recreation sites operated by local governments.
Preliminary Feasibility or Engineering Study: towards implementation of one of the three eligible categories listed above.

Renters who already relocated after Ida, including those who moved temporarily before returning to their storm impacted home may also be eligible. GYO Grant
The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is continuing the Future Proud Michigan Educator (Future PME) initiative with a grant opportunity for districts to develop Grow Your Own (GYO) partnerships to support non-certificated K-12 school personnel in earning teacher certification. The GYO Staff grants support partnerships between PK-12 schools and educator preparation providers to develop pathways for school support staff to earn initial teacher certification or for certified teachers to earn additional endorsements.
GYO programs funded via the state budget are an extension of Michigan's efforts to grow and diversify the educator workforce and reduce educator shortages.
In high quality GYO programs, both partners commit to wrap-around support of candidates through shared mentorship, coaching, observation, and assessment of emerging teachers from the beginning of teacher preparation coursework through the first years of their service as certified teachers. Define, Identify, and Fund Nontraditional Pathways into the Teaching Profession: A resource for Michigan Districts provides key considerations for developing a GYO program and descriptions of exemplary programs. Grow Your Own Educators: A Toolkit for Program Design and Development also provides a collection of user-friendly resources on essential elements of high quality GYO programs.
The Department awards grants from State appropriations, federal awards, and other funding sources. Since the award and appropriation of these funds do not always conform to the State Fiscal Year, the information included in this directory is based on anticipated grant awards that will begin in the period from July 1 through June 30 of each State Fiscal Year. The ability of the Department to make grant awards is expressly dependent upon the availability of funds appropriated by the State Legislature from State and/or federal revenue or such other funding sources as may be applicable.
