Aid to Agencies

About the Program

The Arapahoe County Aid to Agencies (A2A) Program provides financial support to nonprofit organizations delivering essential services to Arapahoe County residents. Established in 2008 by the Arapahoe County Board of County Commissioners, the program was created to address critical community needs through strategic partnerships with local nonprofit providers.

Since its inception, the program has awarded more than $30 million to nonprofits serving residents across the county. 

For the 2026–2027 funding cycle, approximately $3,079,500 in General Fund support will be available, including designated allocations for safety net providers. 

In 2025, the program framework was updated to align with Arapahoe Forward and strengthen transparency, accountability, measurable outcomes, and alignment with community-identified needs. The updated framework prioritizes investments that address documented service gaps and improve quality of life for Arapahoe County residents.

Safety net providers are nonprofit organizations that deliver essential services to vulnerable or underserved populations. These organizations are typically distinguished by one or more of the following: 

• Serving as the sole or primary provider of a critical service  
• Offering services that do not duplicate existing County programs  
• Addressing high-need and high-impact service areas with demonstrated community demand  

Organizations currently designated as safety net providers: 

• Three Birds Alliance (formerly Gateway Domestic Violence Services)  
• Aurora Mental Health Center & Recovery – Detox Services  

These organizations receive direct base funding outside of the competitive application pool.

The Ecolab St. Paul, MN Area NPO Grant Program supports 501(c)(3) organizations that focus on youth development, community and civic engagement, environmental conservation, and arts education. Grants are available to current grantees in the St. Paul area, with applications opening on September 8, 2025. This initiative aims to enhance health, sustainability, and operational efficiency in local communities, aligning with Ecolab's mission of protecting people and the planet.

Asheville Merchants Fund

The Asheville Merchants Fund (AMF) seeks to improve the quality of life in Buncombe County by supporting innovative projects that strengthen the community through economic efforts in one or more of its Funding Priorities.

The Fund provides grants of up to $50,000 over two years. Approximately five to eight grants are awarded during each two-year funding cycle. Grants are paid in two installments, with the second year of funding contingent upon reasonable progress toward expected results.  

Projects must target economic benefit for Buncombe County residents. Priority will be given to projects comprehensively addressing one or more of the following Funding Priorities: 

Innovative Economic Approaches 

• Community asset development: investing in emerging local economies, especially those related to home-grown businesses 
• Entrepreneurship: resources for entrepreneurs, including access to training, service providers and capital to accelerate business success 

Quality Jobs & Workforce

• Living wage work: recruitment, retention and expansion of businesses providing high-quality, well-paying jobs 
• Appropriate skills: training for jobs that are in demand and critical to community viability 
• Non-traditional training and employment services: flexible schedules, short-term certificate programs and community-based (versus academic institutional) settings 

Social Infrastructure 

• Programs contributing to family economic success, including financial education and asset development
• Affordable housing: developing effective strategies and supporting implementation
• Services that increase employees’ ability to participate fully in the workforce, including health and wellness or dependent care 

Youth Success in School 

• Middle and high school students: targeted academic (particularly in math, science and technology) and non-academic activities related to job skill development 
• Family support: improving the home environment for learning

AMF supports organizations that have the capacity and vision to develop multi-faceted programs to help Buncombe County and its citizens thrive in the emerging economic environment. Factors considered in evaluating applications include: 

• Focus on a critical need
• Defined, measurable results that can be achieved within the grant period and make a long-term difference in the beneficiaries' lives
• Skilled leadership with the potential to carry out innovative, integrated efforts effectively in one or more of the focus areas

The Carl B. & Florence E. King Foundation offers Community Grants in North Texas, focusing on enhancing financial independence for seniors, supporting arts and culture, aiding youth transitioning from foster care, and addressing economic disparities. Grants range from $15,000 to $75,000, averaging $30,000. Eligible counties include Collin, Dallas, Denton, Rockwall, and Tarrant. The Foundation prioritizes initiatives that empower economically disadvantaged communities while ensuring that funds are not directed to individual support or non-tax-exempt organizations.

The Knapp Community Care Foundation Grant supports organizations in the Mid-Valley region that enhance health and wellness. Since 2013, the foundation focuses on projects addressing the Social Determinants of Health, including economic stability and healthcare access. Eligible organizations must be recognized 501(c)(3) entities and demonstrate innovative programs that positively impact the community. The foundation encourages partnerships and evidence-based initiatives to leverage additional funding and improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations.

The Community Investment Grant Program by United Way of Kennebec Valley provides essential funding to support local programs that enhance health, education, and financial stability in Kennebec County. The initiative emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion while aligning with the Impact2032 Vision Statements. Eligible organizations include nonprofits and municipal entities, with grants ranging from $2,500 to $50,000. This program aims to address community disparities and foster collaboration among diverse groups through targeted funding efforts.

The Westchester Community Foundation Grant Program offers competitive grants to public charities and groups providing programs in Westchester County. The foundation prioritizes initiatives in human justice, human services, workforce development, youth development, arts, social justice, and technical assistance. This support aims to enhance the lives of residents through diverse projects that address civil rights, economic stability, youth empowerment, and cultural access. Funding fosters community engagement and innovative solutions to local challenges.

The Kosciuszko Foundation offers Tuition Scholarships for American students of Polish descent pursuing graduate studies in the U.S. Scholarships can provide up to $12,000 for full-time studies, including master's and Ph.D. programs. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents with Polish heritage and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. This program aims to foster educational exchanges and cultural understanding between the U.S. and Poland, supporting various fields of study.

The Delaware County Foundation's Community Grants program aims to strengthen communities through charitable giving. Since its inception in 1995, the foundation has provided over $18 million in funding to support various nonprofit organizations in Delaware County, focusing on areas such as animal welfare, arts and culture, basic needs, education, economic opportunity, and environmental sustainability. Organizations addressing these critical areas are encouraged to apply for funding to enhance community well-being.

The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust Grant Programme, established in 1972, focuses on enhancing lives through arts, medical welfare, and environmental initiatives. Priorities include promoting access to the arts for marginalized groups, supporting music and art therapy, and engaging youth in conservation efforts. Charities applying must be UK registered and demonstrate alignment with the Trust's mission. The Trust remains committed to making impactful donations that significantly benefit communities and individuals in need.

The Ohio AmeriCorps Formula Grants, administered by ServeOhio, engage over 80,000 Americans annually in meaningful service across various sectors. These grants support local nonprofits and community organizations in addressing critical needs in education, health, and the environment. By participating in AmeriCorps, members gain valuable skills and experience while earning educational scholarships, fostering stronger communities through civic engagement and volunteerism.

The Looking Out Foundation Grant supports social justice and humanitarian initiatives, having donated nearly $6 million to various causes globally. With an average donation of $25 per campaign, it aids organizations focused on disaster relief, racial justice, and support for marginalized communities. Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt public charities under Section 501(c)(3). The foundation prioritizes diverse funding sources and encourages organizations to adapt to changing needs, with grant allocations ranging from $5,000 to $25,000.

Ecolab Foundation

The foundation’s primary areas of engagement include educational programs that enhance learning and workforce readiness, environmental projects that encourage conservation and sustainability, and health-related initiatives that improve hygiene and safety. It focuses on partnerships that deliver measurable benefits and long-term impact.

Ecolab Foundation operates primarily within the United States while also supporting global initiatives aligned with its corporate responsibility goals. Its geographic scope reflects a commitment to addressing local community needs and contributing to broader sustainability efforts.

The foundation collaborates with nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and community-based groups. It prioritizes partnerships that demonstrate strong governance, clear objectives, and alignment with its mission of education, health, and environmental responsibility.

Ecolab Match Program

Ecolab established the Volunteer and Community Relations programs to encourage and reward Ecolab employee and alumni involvement in the communities where people live and work. There are three programs including the Board Leadership Volunteer Grant.

Board Leadership Volunteer Grant

Ecolab will donate up to $500 USD annually to a qualifying 501(c)3 organization (some restrictions apply) for which an eligible person serves on the Board of Directors. 

Focus Areas of Giving

• Youth and Education: programs that promote youth development, particularly for programs that ensure all students are successful
• Civic & Community Development: affordable housing, work readiness, crisis assistance and hunger relief
• Environment & Conservation: hands-on environmental learning programs, environment and conservation organizations
• Arts & Culture: arts education for children and youth as well as support for museums and the performing arts

The Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund, initiated in 2018, aims to enhance ecosystems in the Delaware River watershed through grants supporting habitat restoration and water quality improvement. With $72.1 million awarded to 239 projects, it has significantly impacted over 26 miles of riparian habitat and 77 miles of stream habitat, along with conserving 1,176 acres of wetlands. This initiative, funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, also emphasizes outdoor recreation and community vitality in the region.

The GPOA Foundation Grant supports programs for children in Orleans Parish, Louisiana, with a focus on kindergarten readiness, reading proficiency by third grade, and equipping at-risk youth for independence. The foundation accepts concept papers biannually and encourages collaborative requests. Eligible organizations include nonprofits serving children and youth, while ineligible programs include those outside Orleans Parish or unrelated to children. Funding can cover operational costs and multi-year requests, fostering impactful educational initiatives.

The Levin Family Foundation Grant supports nonprofits focused on critical issues in Montgomery County, Ohio, such as the opiate epidemic, human trafficking, anti-bullying, and suicide prevention. Established in 1996, the foundation has invested over $12 million globally, emphasizing projects that align with its mission. Eligible organizations must be IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt. Priority is given to initiatives in the Greater Dayton Area, fostering positive community impact.

The Moniker Foundation's Southwest Region Grant offers $10,000 grants and $1,000 participation grants to eligible organizations in a competitive process. Applicants must operate within designated counties and be a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity. The program emphasizes early childhood education, youth programming, food security, and environmental initiatives, with an in-person Pitch Day required for selected applicants. Organizations are encouraged to focus on critical operating activities during the application process.

The Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) in Mississippi, administered by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, offers agricultural producers the opportunity to enhance their conservation practices and earn payments based on performance. By developing tailored conservation plans, the program supports landowners in achieving sustainable management goals, improving productivity, and increasing resilience against market and environmental challenges. Participants benefit from additional payments for adopting innovative practices that contribute to healthier ecosystems and land management.

Lilly Foundation

To extend Lilly’s charitable reach and impact, the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation (Lilly Foundation) was established in 1968 and is supported by donations from Eli Lilly and Company.

The Foundation is a tax-exempt, private foundation supporting programs that align with its philanthropic priorities.

Global Health

Lilly Foundation, through its charitable grants, aims to support permissible charitable efforts to improve access to quality healthcare for resource-limited communities in low- and lower-middleincome countries (L/LMICs) and in the United States. Strengthening access to care is essential for enhancing community well-being and supporting economic stability in resource-limited settings.

The Global Health focus area aims to close gaps in quality healthcare by supporting charitable solutions that improve access, bring care closer to where people live, and address the high burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in resource-limited settings. To the extent permissible, the Foundation prioritizes charitable efforts related to cardiometabolic health in resource-limited settings.

K-12 STEM Education

The K-12 STEM Education focus area aims to close the gaps for students from low-income communities by supporting programs that foster new pathways and pipelines to STEM education through focused K-12 efforts, concentrating on the critical middle school years. The Foundation’s K-12 STEM Education grants are focused on initiatives that benefit Marion County, Indiana.

Economic Mobility

The Economic Mobility focus area supports charitable and educational programs that strengthen workforce readiness, postsecondary and skills-based educational pathways, and housing stability to promote long-term prosperity. This support is focused on Marion County, Indiana, with the goal of improving economic opportunity for low-income communities and advancing community well-being.

The Career and Technical Education Secondary Supplemental Enhancement Grant, established under Perkins V, aims to enhance the academic and vocational skills of secondary students in CTE programs. With funding ranging from $25,000 to $50,000, it supports initiatives that foster partnerships among educational institutions and industry, ensuring students gain the skills needed for high-demand careers. This grant promotes innovative educational practices and increases opportunities for underrepresented populations, contributing to workforce development and economic competitiveness.

The Community Foundation Grants - Emanuel A. and Romilda P. Richard Fund supports projects that enhance the quality of life in Burke County, especially in Valdese, North Carolina. This grant is part of the Annual Community Foundation Grant Cycle and is available to tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organizations. The Community Foundation of Burke County utilizes an online grant management system for applications and follow-ups.

The IWF General Operating Grant, offered by the Incarnate Word Foundation Missouri, supports organizations committed to community empowerment through equity and compassion. Grants typically range from $3,000 to $10,000 and can be utilized for general operating support rather than specific projects. Eligible applicants should demonstrate a strong mission commitment, maintain community partnerships, and possess valid 501(c)(3) status, among other criteria. This grant seeks to foster innovative solutions for systemic social issues.

Highmark Corporate Giving is dedicated to enhancing community health and economic resilience across its service areas. With a focus on equitable access to healthcare and support for local organizations, Highmark aims to reduce health disparities and promote well-being. Their initiatives, such as the Bright Blue Futures program, provide funding to impactful community projects, supporting a diverse range of organizations that align with their mission of fostering healthier, more vibrant communities.

The Field Foundation of Illinois focuses on funding organizations that address systemic issues in under-resourced communities, particularly prioritizing BIPOC-led initiatives. With a commitment to racial equity, they aim to invest 60% of their portfolio in BIPOC organizations across Chicago, supporting efforts in justice and storytelling. Grant requests typically range from $15,000 to $50,000, fostering local partnerships to create impactful social change.

The Adirondack Park Community Smart Growth Grant Program, managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, offers funding to enhance community livability and sustainable development in the Adirondack and Catskill Parks. With an anticipated budget of $1,050,000, the program supports projects that align with smart growth principles, fostering environmental protection, economic development, and community planning. Eligible initiatives include improving public spaces, enhancing transportation access, and promoting tourism while ensuring the preservation of natural resources.

Who We Are

Volunteer West Virginia, the state’s Commission for National and Community Service, challenges West Virginians to strengthen their communities through service and volunteerism. The Commission administers West Virginia’s AmeriCorps service programs. We also administer additional programming to help meet the state’s volunteer and community service needs.

Purpose of AmeriCorps Funding

AmeriCorps brings people together to tackle some of the country’s most pressing challenges through national service and volunteering. AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers serve with organizations dedicated to the improvement of communities. AmeriCorps helps make service a cornerstone of our national culture. An organization that receives an AmeriCorps Planning Grant will work with Volunteer West Virginia to develop a viable AmeriCorps program that addresses identified community needs.

AmeriCorps grants are awarded to eligible organizations proposing to engage AmeriCorps members in evidence-based or evidence-informed interventions/practices to strengthen communities. An AmeriCorps member is an individual who engages in community service through an approved national service position. Members may receive a living allowance and other benefits while serving. Upon successful completion of their service, members earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award that they can use to pay for higher education expenses or apply to qualified student loans.

AmeriCorps Focus Areas

Economic Opportunity

Grants will provide support and/or facilitate access to services and resources that contribute to the improved economic well-being and security of economically disadvantaged people; help economically disadvantaged people, to have improved access to services that enhance financial literacy; transition into or remain in safe, healthy, affordable housing; and/or have improved employability leading to increased success in becoming employed.

Education  

Grants will provide support and/or facilitate access to services and resources that contribute to improved educational outcomes for economically disadvantaged children; improved school readiness for economically disadvantaged young children; improved educational and behavioral outcomes of students in low-achieving elementary, middle, and high schools; and/or support economically disadvantaged students’ preparation for success in post-secondary educational institutions.

Healthy Futures

Grants will provide support for activities that will address the opioid crisis; increase seniors’ ability to remain in their own homes with the same or improved quality of life for as long as possible; and/or increase physical activity and improve nutrition with the purpose of reducing obesity. 

Environmental Stewardship

Grants will support responsible stewardship of the environment, while preparing communities for challenging climate and environmental circumstances and helping Americans respond to and recover from disruptive events: programs that conserve natural habitats; protect clean air and water; maintain public lands; support wildland fire mitigation and sustainable forest management; cultivate individual and community resilience; and provide reforestation services after floods or fires, such as nature based solutions.

Veterans and Military Families

Grants will improve the quality of life of veterans and improve military family well-being; increase the number of veterans, wounded warriors, military service members, and their caregivers, families, and survivors served by AmeriCorps programs; and/or increase the number of veterans and military family members engaged in service through AmeriCorps programs.

Disaster Services

Grants will support increased and improved disaster services for individuals and communities to prepare and adapt to disasters, including but not limited to climate change events. Activities will provide support to increase preparedness for disasters, improve readiness to respond to disasters, support recovery efforts from disasters, and/or assist in the implementation of pre-disaster mitigation and adaptation measures. Grants will support communities and individuals in planning for disasters, in particular engaging disadvantaged communities in the planning process.
