The HOKC Good Works Program provides over $2.5 million annually in grants to Kentucky nonprofits, aiding over 3.9 million individuals. Non-profit SMART Grants

Non-Profit SMART Grants support Basin non-profits and First Nations to increase their energy efficiency, generate renewable energy, adapt to the impacts of climate change, and/or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

There are two streams for this grant: Stream One – Electric Vehicles and Charging Stations; and Stream Two – Renewable Energy and Improvements to Buildings

Stream One – Electric Vehicles and Charging Stations

This stream supports the purchase of one new electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle for use in Basin communities, and/or up to two charging stations.

The Spencer T. and Ann W. Olin Foundation Wetlands and Waterfowl Research Fellowship supports graduate students in North America conducting research on waterfowl or wetland biology. The fellowship, offering up to $9,500 annually, emphasizes applicant qualifications, research proposal soundness, originality, and potential contributions to conservation efforts. This competitive opportunity is renewable for up to two additional years for PhD students and once for Masters students, pending satisfactory progress reports.

The HOKC Good Works Program provides medium grants ranging from $2,500 to $9,999 to support Kentucky nonprofits. With over $2.5 million distributed annually, the program aims to enhance community services in areas such as education, health, and support for low-income individuals. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits operating for at least five years within Kentucky. Ineligible entities include religious organizations and most government bodies. This grant initiative has a strong history of impactful contributions to local communities.

The Michael R. Priddy Music Scholarship, offered by the Central Kentucky Community Foundation, aims to support graduating high school seniors from Hardin County Schools, specifically Elizabethtown and LaRue County High Schools. This scholarship is intended for students who have demonstrated involvement in classical orchestra or music performance, or who plan to pursue music studies, thereby fostering musical education in the community.

The Ballyshannon Fund Grant supports educational initiatives that enhance public understanding of the economic significance of agricultural and forestry sectors in Central Virginia. To be eligible, organizations must possess 501(c)(3) status or be governmental entities, focusing on local projects. Notably, it does not fund capital campaigns, endowments, individuals, or physical infrastructure projects. First-time applicants should submit a Letter of Intent by February 15, while returning applicants must provide a full proposal.

New Leaf Fund

Community Foundation of Greenville administers grants to preserve parks, open spaces, and historical and cultural assets through the New Leaf Fund.

The New Leaf Fund was established in 2025 by a Greenville native with a passion for conservation.

Established 501c(3) organizations and local municipalities are invited by the New Leaf Fund Committee to apply online through Community Foundation’s website during the spring, summer, and/or winter grant cycles.

The Foundation encourages grant requests that include the protection of land and waterfront areas, increased tree cover and access to green spaces, and the protection and restoration of historical properties, in the City of Greenville, in Greenville County, and, to a lesser degree, in the Upstate.

The Washington Coast Restoration and Resiliency Initiative provides critical funding and technical assistance to coastal communities in Washington State, addressing urgent ecological restoration needs while also creating jobs. The Nonpoint Source Program (NPS Program) Grant from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) funds projects aimed at restoring and protecting waterbodies from nonpoint source pollution. This competitive grant opportunity invites submissions for funding under the EPA Clean Water Act Section 319(h). Applicants must enter into cost reimbursement contracts with the State for selected projects, guided by the 2022 Nonpoint Source Management Plan.

The Ribbons of Hope Grant, awarded annually by the Ribbons of Hope Foundation since 2012, aims to enhance the lives of women and children through education, health, economic independence, social well-being, and human rights initiatives. Non-profit organizations with a strong operational history and a commitment to impactful programs are encouraged to apply for this $100,000 grant, which supports both ongoing and self-sustaining projects.

The Next Gen Council Grant Program, supported by the Reser Family Foundation, focuses on funding organizations in Oregon that provide essential services such as mental health counseling, addiction support, and educational mentorship. Eligible applicants must be established 501c3 organizations with a history of community service and measurable success. This initiative honors the legacy of the Reser Family by addressing pressing community needs and fostering collaborative partnerships.

MUCFC Grant Program

Community Tree Planting and Education Grant Program

The Maryland Urban and Community Forestry Council (MUCFC) provides funding to support community-based tree planting and forestry education projects that strengthen Maryland’s urban forests. Grants are open to organizations statewide for work on public lands that improves the urban tree canopy, engages citizens, and promotes long-term environmental stewardship.

Funding Innovative Research

Cannonball Kids’ cancer Foundation (CKc) prioritizes funding clinical trials, research that is nearing translation to a clinical trial, and young investigator grants.

Grants funded by CKc must be innovative and provide better quality of life or symptom relief than current treatments. 

When possible, CKc will prioritize funding research:

• with a focus on cancers that are under-funded or under-researched,
• with a focus on patient populations who are traditionally underserved.

When possible, CKc will prioritize funding researchers of diverse backgrounds.

For CKc, “innovation” means the invention or application of novel methods or treatments, specifically treatments that have fewer side-effects than standard care, increase a child’s quality of life, and/or create an option for care where there otherwise were few or none (either on primary diagnosis, relapse, or for recalcitrant cancers).

MI Healthy Climate Challenge

The MI Healthy Climate Challenge (The Challenge) is Michigan’s boldest call to action yet—putting millions in green energy grants into the hands of Michiganders to accelerate the clean energy transition.

The "Challenges"

Throughout the year, the MI Healthy Climate Challenge will launch a series of grant competitions to drive clean energy deployment and unlock additional investment across Michigan. 

Go Big, Go Clean is the fourth grant program of the MI Healthy Climate Challenge supporting industrial decarbonization feasibility studies that help Michigan industries evaluate practical near-term decarbonization interventions while also identifying the technologies, conditions, and support needed to achieve deeper emissions reductions over time. Funding can be used to support studies, assessments, analyses, and related planning work that support industrial decarbonization at Michigan facilities. 

The program is designed not only to inform facility-level decisions, but also to help the State of Michigan understand what will be required to accelerate decarbonization across Michigan’s industrial sectors. In addition to highlighting what is feasible today, studies should help clarify what is not yet feasible, what is missing, and what role the state and other partners can play in expediting progress towards industrial decarbonization.

The Mid-Atlantic Environmental Justice Fund - Track II focuses on enhancing tree canopy to improve public health and environmental resilience in disadvantaged communities. This initiative aims to address air pollution, stormwater management, and ecological challenges through community-driven tree planting and maintenance projects. Supported by the Chesapeake Bay Trust and various local organizations, this program emphasizes participatory decision-making and requires community recommendations for project proposals, fostering local engagement and sustainability.

The WACF Community Fund Grants support eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits in Walker County, offering opportunities through Spring and Fall cycles or year-round requests under $5,000. The Walker Area Community Foundation focuses on community needs, funding innovative projects that foster economic growth, lifelong learning, health, and leadership development. With a commitment to collaboration, the foundation aims to enhance the quality of life for residents and encourage impactful community engagement.

The Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) helps landowners, land trusts, and other entities protect, restore, and enhance wetlands or protect working farms and ranches through conservation easements.

The Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) protects the agricultural viability and related conservation values of eligible land by limiting nonagricultural uses which negatively affect agricultural uses and conservation values, protect grazing uses and related conservation values by restoring or conserving eligible grazing land, and protecting and restoring and enhancing wetlands on eligible land.

ACEP has two components:

• Agricultural Land Easements (ALE) help private and tribal landowners, land trusts, and other entities such as state and local governments protect croplands and grasslands on working farms and ranches by limiting non-agricultural uses of the land through conservation easements.

• Wetland Reserve Easements (WRE) help private and tribal landowners protect, restore and enhance wetlands which have been previously degraded due to agricultural uses.

Additionally, through ACEP, USDA offers the Wetland Reserve Enhancement Partnership (WREP), a voluntary program through which NRCS enters into agreements with eligible partners to leverage resources to carry out high priority wetland protection, restoration, and enhancement and to improve wildlife habitat.

The Robert B. and Ruth K. Lee Foundation Grant aims to enhance the quality of life in Greenville County, South Carolina. Established in 2000, the foundation supports diverse areas including arts, education, health, and human services. With no geographic limitations, it primarily funds programs benefiting the local community. Grants typically range from $2,000 to $5,000, emphasizing initiatives for the elderly, children’s programs in the arts, and literary projects. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) exempt to be eligible.

The CityArts Program Grants, offered by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, support local artists and cultural organizations by providing general operating grants based on average annual revenue. Eligible nonprofits can apply for grants ranging from equal to their revenue for smaller organizations to a maximum of $50,000 for larger ones. This initiative aims to enhance access to the arts across Chicago's diverse neighborhoods.

The John's Island Foundation (JIF) offers Core Grants annually to support capital needs of nonprofit agencies in Indian River County. Eligible agencies must be tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations that demonstrate a commitment to serving individuals facing challenges related to food, shelter, health, and education. JIF focuses on tangible capital improvements, ensuring that funds are used to enhance community services. This initiative reflects JIF's dedication to fostering a sustainable impact for those in need within the local community.

The Kimball Foundation Grant Program supports college access, workplace training, cultural enrichment, and environmental education for low-income residents in the San Francisco Bay Area. By providing pathways to higher education, vocational training, and arts education, the foundation empowers youth to overcome barriers and achieve their goals. The foundation emphasizes culturally competent leadership and structured support, ensuring effective mentorship and long-term success for participants. Organizations are encouraged to apply for funding that aligns with these impactful missions.

The Grants for Rural and Native Alaskan Villages program is designed to provide essential drinking water and waste disposal systems to remote Alaskan villages. By addressing dire sanitation conditions, the program ensures access to clean water and improves public health in communities that are often isolated. Funded by USDA Rural Development, these grants cover up to 75% of project costs, promoting sustainable infrastructure in areas facing unique challenges due to geography and climate.

The CRCF Youth Grants support initiatives that benefit teens aged 12-18 in Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties, Michigan. With a focus on pressing issues like substance abuse, mental wellness, and violence, the grants are awarded through the Youth Advisory Council, consisting of local high school students. Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, schools, and governmental entities. This program aims to empower youth and address critical challenges they face in today's society.
