Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board

The PLCB regulates the distribution of beverage alcohol in Pennsylvania, operates 560 Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores statewide and licenses 20,000 alcohol producers, retailers and handlers. The PLCB also works to reduce and prevent dangerous and underage drinking through work with schools, community groups and licensees. 

Reducing Underage Drinking and Dangerous Drinking Grant

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (“PLCB”), Bureau of Alcohol Education’s Reducing Underage Drinking and Dangerous Drinking (“RUDD”) Grant (“Grant”) offers additional resources and funding to eligible community partners to develop and enhance the PLCB’s mission to reduce underage drinking, reduce dangerous drinking by those who are of legal drinking age, and promote responsible alcohol consumption by those of legal drinking age. 

The HRBT Foundation offers grants to support various community-focused projects, emphasizing areas like health care, education, and environmental protection. Organizations recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS can apply for funding, with a streamlined process for requests under $1,000. The foundation prioritizes specific project funding over general support and does not accept multiple requests from the same organization within a calendar year.

The Buena Vista County Community Foundation offers small grants to not-for-profit organizations in Buena Vista County for capital investment projects. Grants of $2,000 or less are available with no required match. Eligible projects include youth education, arts, environmental initiatives, health services, and community betterment. The Foundation encourages applications during its annual funding cycles, typically held in Spring and Fall, and prioritizes projects that enhance community investment.

West Virginia Community Advancement and Development

West Virginia Community Advancement and Development works to encourage strong civic engagement through INFRASTRUCTURE, SUSTAINABILITY, COMPLIANCE, and RESILIENCY. WV CAD administers state and federal programs designed to improve the quality of life in West Virginia.

Community Service Block Grant

The Community Service Block Grant is a federal anti-poverty program administered by the Community Advancement and Development office of the WV Department of Economic Development. CSBG is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF) and administered by the Office of Community Services ACF-OCS.

CSBG is not a competitive grant. Eligible applicants are Community Action Agencies that are designated by the Governor of West Virginia to administer the Community Services Block Grant. CSBG does not directly fund individuals but provides funding to Community Action Agencies throughout the state. The purpose in West Virginia is to aid a network of 15 Community Action Agencies (CAAs) in the reduction of poverty, revitalization of low-income communities, and to provide economic opportunities for low-income families.

Organizations which were officially designated as Community Action Agencies (CAAs) under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 and were specifically designated by the 1981 CSBG Act as eligible entities to receive CSBG funds.

All recipients of CSBG funds submit community action plans and budgets detailing the programs, services, and activities to be conducted using CSBG funding.

Benefits of CSBG

WV's Community Action Agencies are independent non-profit organizations each providing a unique mix of community services. CSBG funding supports projects that:

• Lessen poverty in communities
• Address the needs of low-income individuals including the homeless, migrants and the elderly
• Provide services and activities addressing employment, education, better use of available income, housing, nutrition, emergency services and/or health

The Buena Vista County Community Foundation offers Medium Grants ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 to verified not-for-profit organizations and local governments. The Foundation encourages sustainable projects in various categories including youth education, arts, environment, health, recreation, and community betterment, with a required 50% match for funding.

The R. Howard Dobbs, Jr. Foundation Grant aims to enhance educational opportunities, access to health services, and environmental stewardship in Georgia. The MCF: Equity Fund Grant, established by the Maine Community Foundation, aims to strengthen LGBTQ+ organizations in Maine through general and project grants. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, municipalities, and public agencies that engage LGBTQ+ individuals in their leadership and services. This grant prioritizes initiatives that enhance healthcare access, reduce disparities, and promote respect. The fund, which became permanent in 2000, continues to support community-based efforts that align with its mission.

The Story County Community Foundation offers a Capacity Building Grant to enhance the capabilities of nonprofit organizations within Story County.
