Joel Ayite Ajavon Memorial Scholarship
The Scholarship was established by friends and family to honor the life of Joel Ayite Ajavon who left this world far too early. To be awarded to graduating high school seniors with a primary interest in studying science, technology, engineering, math, nursing, or trades at a two-year community college in Western New York.
Number and Size of Awards
One award of $4,000; may be split between two recipients. Award paid in one lump sum in the Fall and divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters. Minimum award $2,000.
Allowed Use of Award
Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.
Bailey and Friends Grant
Financial support from Bailey and Friends focuses on several categories including: spay/neuter, quality shelter care, adoptions and foster care, emergency relief, therapy/companion training, community education on responsible pet ownership and other programs to ensure that dogs and cats have the chance to live healthy, happy lives in stable environments.
Bailey and Friends strives to improve the lives of dogs and cats primarily in underserved communities and rural areas where services are limited. Small ‘mom & pop’ operations with limited capacity to provide needed services are encouraged to apply.
As a new extension of the Golisano Foundation, financial resources for grants are limited. Our average award is in the $5,000 – $10,000 range, however, smaller and larger grants will be considered. Please call the office for further discussion before starting the online application.
Applications for programs, capital projects or community planning initiatives related to the field of animal welfare will be given consideration.
Community-wide strategies involving alliances/coalitions/collaborations that bring together the expertise and perspectives of various stakeholders; that can identify and grow best practices and effective programs; that are easy to replicate and share broadly with other communities will be given consideration.
Chesapeake Watershed Investments for Landscape Defense (WILD) Program
The Chesapeake Watershed Investments for Landscape Defense (WILD) Grants Program delivered in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service supports efforts to improve the condition and connectivity of habitats for at risk and federally listed species.
The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) is committed to operating in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Executive Orders. We continuously monitor legal and regulatory developments to ensure our policies, procedures, and operations align with current federal directives. We encourage all applicants to do the same.
The ability and extent to which NFWF is able to make awards is contingent upon receipt of funds from federal agencies and/or other funding partners. Final funding decisions will be made based on the applications received and the level and timing of funding received by NFWF.

Scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors. Applications are accepted from mid-November until mid-March. Scholarship award recipients will be announced at the high school awards ceremony.
Margaret Stone Music Scholarship Endowment
Established by Mrs. Stone, Houghton College class of ’45, to assist a music major attending her alma mater.
