Connor Arthur Lynskey Memorial Academic Award for Oneida/Herkimer Counties
This scholarship fund was created in memory of Connor Arthur Lynskey (18 years old) of Hinckley, New York. Connor aspired to be a rural physician and attended premedical school at Siena College. His dream was to practice medicine in an underserved area in order to help residents receive adequate health care.
Connor had an extraordinary way about himself for someone his age. He was God-inspired, loved everyone as he loved himself, and cared deeply about his family and friends. He had a mysterious ability to consistently make lemonade out of lemons. Everyone loved him when they met him. He was truly an inspiration to friends, family and clergy members alike, who now all suffer an enormous heart-wrenching void due to a careless and reckless drunk driver that took his life on August 11, 2018.

Oneida County Youth Investment Grant
n partnership with Oneida County, the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties is seeking applications from local nonprofit organizations for programs that address the unique needs and challenges of at-risk youth in Oneida County and provide meaningful services which help to reduce acts of violence among youth.
The Oneida County Youth Investment Initiative invites nonprofits to apply for $25,000 to $450,000 to expand existing programs or create new programs that foster positive youth development, strengthen community ties, and reduce factors that contribute to youth violence. Funding request amounts should be commensurate to a nonprofit organization’s overall operating budget, number of employees/volunteers, and ability to implement the proposed program.
Proposed programs must align with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Youth Violence Prevention Resource for Action Guide, which represents a select group of strategies based on the best available evidence to help communities sharpen their focus on prevention activities with the greatest potential to prevent youth violence and its consequences. Strategies and approaches outlined in the Prevention Resource are intended to impact individual behaviors and the relationships, families, schools and communities that influence risk and protective factors for youth. Strategies and approaches are intended to work in combination and reinforce each for long-term impact and success.
