The M&T Charitable Foundation Grants provide essential support to a variety of organizations focused on enhancing community well-being. With a mission rooted in corporate responsibility, the foundation prioritizes partnerships with 501(c)(3) organizations in sectors such as arts, health, education, and human services. By investing in local initiatives, the foundation aims to create healthier communities and improve the quality of life for all stakeholders involved.

The Cloudsplitter Rapid Response Grants provide urgent funding for local not-for-profit organizations facing immediate needs. With deadlines on January 1st, May 1st, and September 1st, these grants support requests under $5,000. Applications must be submitted by 5pm, and late submissions will be considered in the next funding cycle. This initiative by the Cloudsplitter Foundation aims to assist organizations that cannot wait for the regular grant cycles.

Chesapeake Watershed Investments for Landscape Defense (WILD) Program

The Chesapeake Watershed Investments for Landscape Defense (WILD) Grants Program delivered in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service supports efforts to improve the condition and connectivity of habitats for at risk and federally listed species.

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) is committed to operating in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Executive Orders. We continuously monitor legal and regulatory developments to ensure our policies, procedures, and operations align with current federal directives. We encourage all applicants to do the same.  

The ability and extent to which NFWF is able to make awards is contingent upon receipt of funds from federal agencies and/or other funding partners. Final funding decisions will be made based on the applications received and the level and timing of funding received by NFWF.

The WILD Program Pillars are:

• Pillar 1: Restore, conserve, and connect fish and wildlife habitat
• Pillar 2: Improve water quality for fish, wildlife and people
• Pillar 3: Align the power of nature to adapt to changing landscapes
• Pillar 4: Expand access to nature and outdoor recreation for all Americans
• Pillar 5: Build partnership capacity to collaborate and coordinate actions

The Chesapeake WILD Grants Program has three distinct tracks:

• Collaborative Conservation
  • Grants of up to $200,000 will be awarded for projects that support and enhance the capacity of partnerships, networks, and other collaborative models working collaboratively to advance place-based, landscape-scale, and crossjurisdictional habitat restoration, conservation, and connectivity outcomes.
• Planning and Technical Assistance
• Implementation

The Cloudsplitter Foundation offers Unrestricted Support Grants, aimed at covering the operating costs of not-for-profits rather than specific projects. Eligible organizations must align with the Foundation's strategic objectives and maintain an established relationship, with grants capped at $5,000 per year. The Foundation, active in the Adirondack region since 1986, prioritizes community building, environmental stewardship, and economic stability, providing vital support to enhance local initiatives and ensure long-term impact.

The JGS Fellowship for Photography offers a $7,000 cash grant to photography artists residing in New York State, excluding New York City. This competitive fellowship supports five artists engaged in traditional and experimental photography. Funded by The Joy of Giving Something, the fellowship aims to assist artists in creating new works and exhibitions. Eligible applicants must be at least 25 years old and have lived in a qualifying region of New York State for at least 12 months.

The F26AS00084 Aquatic Invasive Species Grants to Great Lakes Tribes, funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, aim to support the development and implementation of Tribal Aquatic Invasive Species Management Plans. Eligible Great Lakes tribes can apply for competitive grants to address invasive species issues within the Great Lakes Basin, including outreach and prevention efforts. This initiative focuses on early detection and control, significantly contributing to the health of the Great Lakes ecosystem.

The Kenneth V. and Jeannette Remp Sawyer Community Fund aims to enhance the quality of life for residents in Boonville, Constableville, and Westernville. With funding available up to $60,000, this grant supports 501(c)(3) organizations that propose programs and initiatives benefiting the community. Eligible applicants can apply for support to create positive impacts and foster community development.

International Paper Grants focus on community engagement, emphasizing education, hunger relief, health & wellness, and disaster relief. They support nonprofit organizations that demonstrate good financial standing and effective management. Eligible organizations must operate in areas where International Paper has facilities. The foundation prioritizes local needs, particularly critical and environmental issues, while encouraging employee involvement. Ineligible entities include private foundations and those without a local presence. Applications are accepted through mid-September in the U.S. and Canada.

The Neighborhood Builders Program, supported by Bank of America, empowers 501(c)(3) nonprofits through a two-year leadership development initiative. Participants receive funding, training, and networking opportunities to enhance their impact in communities. Since its inception, the program has invested over $346 million, training more than 4,000 leaders. The initiative focuses on advancing social mobility and economic opportunities, ensuring affordable housing, and fostering resilient communities. This program is vital for nonprofits aiming to strengthen their leadership and community engagement.

The Radiance Gives Fund Grant, established in 2022 by Radiance Technologies, supports 501(c)(3) organizations in local communities. This employee-run charitable initiative ensures that 100% of contributions go directly to grant awards, enhancing community impact. With no administrative fees deducted, Radiance empowers its employees to make meaningful contributions to the causes they care about, fostering a culture of giving and community support.

About Rome Community FoundationThe concept of a Rome Community Foundation was developed to provide individuals and groups with a method for making charitable gifts or bequests of permanently endowed funds, giving the donor favorable tax treatment. Income generated from investment of the endowments is used at the discretion of the Foundation's Board of Directors for the benefit of the Rome area.

Mission

The mission of the Foundation is to assist in providing monetary resources for the present and future enrichment of the Rome area community.Rome Community Foundation GrantAs a general rule, the Foundation only funds capital project activities; however, it would consider start-up charitable initiatives that incur one-time costs. Grants can only be given for charitable projects and generally only to organizations certified as tax exempt under Internal Revenue regulations and have a tax-exempt certificate, or governmental organizations.Rome Community Foundation Board Members meet four times a year to review grant proposals for projects that benefit Rome area residents.

The Great Lakes Protection Fund Grant aims to support projects that deliver significant ecological improvements to the Great Lakes region. The Fund seeks transformative initiatives that involve collaboration among diverse stakeholders and rely on scientific rigor. Eligible applicants include non-profits, universities, and businesses, and the projects must demonstrate a positive environmental impact on the Great Lakes ecosystem. Importantly, the Fund does not support advocacy or compliance-related activities.

New York State Office of Mental Health

The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) oversees a large multi-faceted mental health system serving nearly 800,000 individuals each year. This includes operating 23 psychiatric centers and overseeing the Nathan S. Kline Institute and New York Psychiatric Institute. OMH regulates and certifies more than 6,500 programs operated by local governments and nonprofit agencies.

Community Based Diversion Programs

The Office of Mental Health announces funds for the development or enhancement of diversion programs. Programs should be rooted in evidence-based programming or emerging promising practice.

The goal of diversion programs is to reduce the risk of criminal justice involvement for adults with behavioral health needs.

Applicants must already be administering services in the following counties:

• Cayuga
• Essex
• Franklin
• Montgomery
• Madison
• Oneida
• St. Lawrence
• Warren/Washington

Target Population

The target population to be served by the proposed diversion program model is individuals at least 18 years of age with complex and/or chronic behavioral health issues and who are involved with the criminal justice system at one or more intercepts on the Sequential Intercept Model. 

The Chesapeake Watershed Investments for Landscape Defense (WILD) Program, led by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), invites proposals for Planning and Technical Assistance Grants up to $75,000. This initiative focuses on enhancing conservation and stewardship efforts in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, supporting local partners in effective project implementation. With an estimated $8.5 million available, applicants are encouraged to engage with NFWF staff for proposal guidance and feedback to strengthen their submissions.

These funds aim to support on-the-ground conservation projects that enhance vital fish and wildlife habitats within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust Grants focus on enhancing the quality of life for companion animals and native wildlife. This private foundation supports innovative projects that go beyond basic care, ensuring the well-being of homeless and abused animals. Eligible organizations must have a 501(c)(3) status and be located in specific states, including Ohio and parts of Indiana and Michigan. The Trust emphasizes humane treatment and sustainable funding for animal welfare initiatives.

The Polisseni Foundation Grant aims to enhance the quality of life in upstate New York by supporting organizations that address community needs in education, human services, and civic improvement. To apply, organizations must submit their IRS 501(c)(3) Determination Letter and ensure their applications are formatted correctly. All submissions must be made two weeks before the scheduled board meeting for consideration.

The Credit Bureau of Utica/Utica Dollars for Scholars Fund Scholarship supports students from Herkimer or Oneida counties pursuing degrees in business or healthcare. Awarded through Utica Dollars for Scholars, this scholarship aims to empower local graduates with educational opportunities that enrich their lives and foster community growth. Candidates must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 and demonstrate engagement in volunteer work or community service to strengthen their applications.

The Intensive and Sustained Engagement Teams (INSET) RFP by the New York State Office of Mental Health aims to enhance trauma-informed and equitable mental health support for underserved individuals. By contracting with peer-run organizations, the initiative seeks to implement INSET in areas lacking this service, promoting community engagement and support for those traditionally disengaged from mental health services.

The Bianca Michelle Devins Memorial Scholarship, established by the Devins and Williams families in memory of Bianca Devins, supports students pursuing a degree in psychology. This scholarship aims to empower individuals who aspire to assist adolescents facing mental health challenges. Open to graduates from Utica high schools or the surrounding Central New York area, applicants must maintain good academic standing and demonstrate a commitment to helping children with mental health issues.

The 1928 AGC Founders Fund, established by the Adirondack Garden Club, aims to support nonprofit organizations, including schools, that enhance the Adirondack environment. By providing grants, this fund promotes gardening knowledge, protects native species, encourages civic planting, and conserves natural resources. Applications are welcomed from organizations dedicated to making a positive impact in Clinton, Essex, and Franklin counties, covering a diverse area of 1,824 square miles.

Hero Fund America offers grants to EMS, Fire, and Law Enforcement Agencies, supporting essential training, education, and equipment needs. Established in 2016, the fund emphasizes mental health and life-saving resources for first responders. With funding requests capped at $2,000 annually, the program is designed to directly benefit eligible 501(c)(3) organizations and government entities. Notably, the fund is backed by unique fundraising events like the Run 4 the Hills and the Hero Fund America Tour.

These awards recognize programs or initiatives that demonstrate a strong commitment to reducing health disparities and achieving measurable improvements in health outcomes. Proposals should include specific examples of how the program is innovative, such as:

• Introducing a novel approach or reaching a new audience
• Integrating technology to enhance impact
• Driving organizational change
• Building meaningful collaborations and partnerships

The Mele Scholarship, established by the Mele Family, provides 4-year scholarships to students from over 20 school districts in Herkimer and Oneida counties. This initiative by The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties aims to enrich educational opportunities for those studying math, science, and humanities. With a commitment to community vibrancy, the foundation supports students attending 4-year colleges or universities, ensuring that deserving candidates receive the assistance they need to succeed.

CNYCF: Community Grants Program- Spring Cycle

We support the following types of projects that promote community impact, capacity building and diversity:

Capital Projects: including large scale capital campaigns, repairs and replacements, technology upgrades, and equipment/furnishing purchases.

Capital and programmatic grants $10,000-$150,000 are available through the Dr. Robert J. Vitkus Fund to organizations in Onondaga, Madison, Cortland, Cayuga and Oswego counties that support outdoor parks and recreation areas. Preferences are for parks and recreation areas that provide access for hunting and fishing, naming opportunities, programs that involve youth, and conservation efforts to improve wildlife habitat and forest health. 

Program: support for new and innovative programs, or the expansion of proven existing programs that address our community’s most pressing needs.
