The East Boston Foundation

The foundation was formed in 1998 to administer a generous $9.6 million commitment from the Massachusetts Port Authority as part of community mitigation and to offset the impacts associated with Massport's $4.4 Billion Logan Airport Modernization Program.

Categories of Grants

The Board of Trustees of the East Boston Foundation has identified the following categories of grants, which in the discretion of the Board may be amended from time to time. Grant requests and applications shall be grouped into various categories and identified as follows:

Mini-grants

The Foundation recognizes the need for supporting programs and initiatives in the community, which may qualify for one of the above stated categories, but seeks an amount which is considered nominal by the Foundation.

Each year the Foundation will allocate an amount towards funding of the mini-grant program.

The Foundation will accept requests for these grants on an informal basis and may exercise discretion and control over the disbursement of such funds by making either a direct vendor type payments on behalf of the organization or a payment to the organization itself. An organization seeking a mini-grant shall submit a request to the Foundation at least ten (10) days prior to the stated deadline on its own letterhead and signed by an authorized representative of the organization. The request shall include an itemized list of items for which the Foundation is being asked to fund. If approved, the Foundation will then make a direct payment on behalf of the organization to the specific vendor, up-to the awarded amount.

The Foundation will not make payments to individuals.

The Dr. Harry J. Heeb Foundation Grant supports underprivileged and abused children, providing medical attention for related disabilities in the fields of eye, ear, nose, and throat health. It also funds education and training for healthcare providers and nurses. Operating primarily in Florida and Wisconsin, the foundation seeks to improve the lives of those in need through both direct support and research. Grants typically range from $2,500 to $20,000.

The St. Boniface Episcopal Church Grant aims to assist non-profit organizations in continuing Christ's ministry. By fostering partnerships, it provides financial aid and encourages parish involvement in projects that address hunger, homelessness, and children's education. The grant prioritizes works of mercy consistent with the Baptismal covenant and emphasizes programs that promote community support and engagement, aiming to build lasting relationships with recipients to respond effectively to local and global needs.

The Fine Arts Initiative Grant, established by the Maryland General Assembly, aims to enhance arts education for prekindergarten-12 students in local education agencies. Small Grants Program

Are you looking for funding to support your American chestnut research? External small grants offer recipients a variety of benefits such as professional development and an expanded network. Grant activities contribute to the continuous renewal and development of faculty and staff, to the education and motivation of students, and achievement of our mutual interest — restoration of the American chestnut. This is a small grants program. TACF does not ordinarily fund projects in excess of $10,000.

The Nationwide Fishing Trap Removal, Assessment, and Prevention (TRAP) Program aims to eliminate derelict fishing traps nationwide. Focused on collaboration, it emphasizes standardized data collection, quantifying impacts, and comprehensive data sharing. With an annual budget of up to $1,475,000, the program supports 6 to 15 projects, providing grants ranging from $50,000 to $200,000 for 18-month initiatives. Priorities include caregiver relief, support for the critically ill, addressing food insecurity, reducing social isolation, and providing sponsorships for eligible organizations. By funding diverse initiatives, the grant enhances community engagement and well-being among vulnerable populations, ensuring vital resources and services are accessible to those in need.

The Capacity-Building Mini-Grant Opportunity, offered by the Colorado Springs Health Foundation, focuses on enhancing organizational skills and effectiveness in health services. Grants up to $5,000 are available for discreet projects that align with their funding areas, including healthcare access and suicide prevention. Northern Border Regional Commission

The Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) is a partnership between the federal government and the states of Maine, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont. The NBRC targets resources to promote economic growth strategies and projects in designated counties within its member states. The Commission was enacted by Congress through the 2008 Farm Bill which amended 40 US Code to include the creation of the NBRC as well as other similar Commissions nationwide.

Timber for Transit Program - Implementation Award

The Timber for Transit Program advances the use of domestic forest products in transportation infrastructure projects across Maine, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont to showcase the capabilities of wood in these applications. Highly competitive projects will demonstrate and widely promote the utility of high value forest products (e.g. glued laminated timber, cross laminated timber, composite materials, etc.) in transportation infrastructure and commit to enhancing climate resilience in rural communities. Transportation Infrastructure shall mean construction, alteration, or repair of physical transport facilities, systems and structures, including fixed installations and rights of way necessary for transporting from one point to another, that: are open to the general public for use, facilitate reliable movement of people and goods, and influence local and regional economies.  

Construction or non-construction projects—such as assets and facilities that align with Timber for Transit program priorities will be classified as an implementation award. Implementation projects are eligible for up to $5,000,000.

The Section 604(b) Water Quality Management Planning Grant Program in Massachusetts aims to address water quality issues through funding nonpoint source assessment and planning projects. This year's focus includes determining causes of water quality problems, developing climate-resilient designs, and creating nine-element Watershed-Based Plans. Environmental Justice Coordinator positions will also be supported to aid communities in assessments and grant applications, ultimately promoting sustainable water management practices.

Nonmedical Drivers of Health Grant 

Through the Nonmedical Drivers of Health Grant, nonprofit organizations can apply for support focused on one of two grant priority pillars: Healthy Neighborhoods or Education & Economic Empowerment. This funding is programmatic support for services provided to the Greater Houston area. Applicants must clearly describe how the funding will impact the community and must be able to track unique individuals served and program outcomes. 

Healthy Neighborhoods Grants

Houston Methodist defines healthy neighborhoods grants as initiatives designed to address the most urgent nonmedical drivers of health within our communities. These drivers of health are identified through the Houston Methodist Community Health Needs Assessment as the areas that are creating barriers to positive health outcomes, but also have significant resource gaps within the greater Houston community. They include food insecurity and access to healthy food, utilities, housing, social connectivity, and transportation.
