You are steps away from creating an opportunity to receive full or partial funding of your charitable organization. So that you use your time wisely, we offer the following advice for your efforts:

• As a family foundation, we are prohibited from funding individuals or any entity that is not an IRS-recognized Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entity or a Section 509(a)(1), (2), or (3) support organization. Thus, while we cannot award a scholarship to an individual, we can fund a 501(c)(3) charity that provides such scholarships.

• If you qualify as a Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization or a support organization pursuant to Section 509(a)(1-3), we will need the IRS Determination Letter confirming as much, as well as a statement signed by your organization’s President or Chief Executive Officer verifying that your organization’s purposes, structure, and operations have not changed substantially since the date of the IRS’s Determination Letter.

• If you are a “supporting organization” under IRS Code section 509(a)(1-3), please provide a list of the public charities that you support. Please also advise whether you are a Type I, Type II, or Type III supporting organization. If you are a Type III supporting organization, please advise whether you are “functionally integrated” with your supported public charity and provide an explanation of that relationship.

By investing in both community vitality and education, they strive to create vibrant neighborhoods and empower individuals with the skills needed for success in today's workforce. The Reser Family Foundation's Midsize Grant Program supports organizations in Oregon with annual budgets over $1.2 million. Grants range from $12,500 to $50,000 and prioritize innovative projects in Education, Health, Arts, and Environment. Eligible applicants must be established 501(c)(3) organizations for over three years and demonstrate community impact. Applications require a letter of support and collaboration with funding partners. The foundation does not fund organizations involved in active litigation or one-time events.

The Davis Family Foundation, established in Maine, focuses on granting support to educational, medical, and cultural/arts organizations. With over $63.5 million awarded since 1986, the foundation emphasizes innovative projects that make a significant impact on Maine communities. Impact100 Owensboro offers transformational grants of at least $100,000 to empower women in philanthropy and support local nonprofits. The grant focuses on five key areas: Arts & Culture, Education, Family, Health & Wellness, and Environment & Recreation. Organizations must document their 501(c)(3) status and demonstrate community support. Grants cannot fund operating expenses unrelated to new programs or projects already completed. This initiative aims to uplift the Greater Owensboro community through strategic philanthropic endeavors.

The Lauren Townsend Memorial Wildlife Fund, established in 1999 in memory of Lauren Townsend, supports 501(c)(3) nonprofits in the U.S. focused on animal welfare and wildlife preservation. It focuses on transformative initiatives across five key areas: Arts & Culture, Education, Environmental Preservation, Family Support, and Health & Wellness. Eligible organizations must demonstrate financial health and a commitment to sustainability, serving the communities of Alameda and Contra Costa. Ineligible projects include general operating expenses and those that do not align with the program's mission.

The Tire-Derived Aggregate Grant Program, administered by the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery, aims to divert waste tires from landfills and promote recycled tire products. This program offers funding for projects that address engineering challenges using lightweight, free-draining tire-derived aggregates. Through our collective impact model, we convene and collaborate with stakeholders across our community to advance strategies that address the root causes of homelessness and help ensure that all our neighbors have a stable home. We embrace a data-driven and human approach to our work – advocating for policies, incubating new ideas and programs, and investing in strategies that reduce and prevent homelessness in our community.

By working together, we can ensure that homelessness is rare, brief and non-recurring – and create a safer, stronger, more vibrant community for us all.

TECHquity Fund Program

Destination: Home launched the TECHquity Fund in 2022 to meet the technology-related needs of service providers and people seeking assistance throughout the homelessness service sector in Santa Clara County. These needs were identified and documented with an assessment by our partners at Homebase.

The purpose of the TECHquity Fund is to remove barriers to service and housing-related support by providing technology access to those on their path to housing stability and to the Santa Clara County Supportive Housing system. With the launch of MyConnectSV, a first of its kind technology solution, Santa Clara County made a deeper commitment to shifting power to service-engaged individuals by enabling transparent and direct access to their service journey. 

Destination: Home is dedicated to increasing access to MyConnectSV through the TECHquity Fund to support the unique technology needs of Santa Clara County-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations serving Extremely Low Income (ELI) individuals. Understanding how critical WiFi infrastructure is in connecting people to services, we are also interested in supporting WiFi installation projects at housing, shelter and other service sites throughout the Supportive Housing System.
