The Costume Society of America (CSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded on March 23, 1973, and incorporated in the state of New York on September 12, 1973. CSA serves it members, and promotes its goals with national symposia and publications including the journal Dress and its monthly electronic newsletter CSA e-News.

The organization began forming regional groups in 1978. There are six regional groups in the United States and Canada, and one international group. Individual regions hold annual meetings, sponsor programs and publish newsletters.

Jim Liles Student Award

 The Jim Liles Student Award is intended to assist students who want to make presentations at a CSA Southeastern Region symposium. These presentations may be on any costume-related topic. The work should be well researched and may or may not be thesis, dissertation, course research project, independent study research, or senior project related. Up to TWO students whose papers are accepted will receive up to $1,000 each to cover travel and other related expenses. The Registration fee will be waived for all student presenters, regardless of whether they receive this award.

Colleen Callahan Professional Development Award

Members are invited to apply for the Professional Development Grant offered by Southeastern Region of the Costume Society of America. Awards will be made at a minimum of $250 with the total award not to exceed $1000. Your project may be on any aspect of costume, any technical skill, or any administrative expertise which will further the mission and purposes of the Costume Society of America. The grant money may be applied to research, a course, workshop fees, or travel.

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation focuses on improving economic mobility and social progress through partnerships with nonprofits. It prioritizes basic needs, income creation, stable housing, and community empowerment. By supporting vulnerable populations, the foundation aims to enable individuals to achieve their goals and contribute positively to their communities. The foundation emphasizes sustainable progress, ensuring that all community members have access to essential resources and opportunities for growth.

The Blue & You Foundation's Behavioral Health Grant aims to enhance mental health services in Arkansas. Grants ranging from $5,000 to $200,000 will support projects that improve access to care, raise awareness, and promote early intervention, among other priorities. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations and Arkansas-based entities, while ineligible groups include individuals and political organizations. The initiative seeks to foster innovation and preventative measures in behavioral healthcare.

High school seniors from eligible central Minnesota schools planning to attend a four-year college outside Minnesota and neighboring states can receive US $5,000 for higher education costs. CommunityGiving provides Arkansas nonprofits and other U.S. organizations with this scholarship opportunity to support student athletes or student leaders pursuing out-of-state degrees full time.

Undergraduate engineering and pre-engineering students in Arkansas pursuing HVAC&R-related Bachelor of Science or Engineering degrees can receive up to US $3,000 for their studies through scholarships from the American Society of Heating Refrigerating & A C Engineers. Eligible applicants must study within ASHRAE Region VIII and meet GPA and program accreditation or student branch criteria.

The South-Central Section of the Geological Society of America provides competitive research grants for undergraduate students from institutions in Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and parts of Mexico. Eligible students must be members of the Geological Society of America and are expected to manage funds responsibly, submitting a report after their research. This initiative supports the development of future geoscientists by fostering research opportunities in the region.

Grants from National Collegiate Athletic Association help Arkansas student-athletes in NCAA Division II complete their first undergraduate degree. Eligible applicants have exhausted athletic eligibility, are within 40 semester (60 quarter) hours of graduation, and can receive up to US $15,000 for remaining tuition after nomination by their institution.

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations in Arkansas that build pathways out of poverty through education, job training, or related economic mobility programs can seek multi-year support, including US $125,000 - US $175,000 annually in unrestricted funding. Arbor Brothers also provides intensive consulting to strengthen strategy, financial management, data, and stakeholder capacity for second-stage organizations.

The Blue & You Foundation Mini Grant program supports Arkansas-based organizations addressing health disparities through community-focused initiatives. Grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 are available for projects targeting emergency medical equipment, maternal and pediatric health, food pantry support, and school health initiatives. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, schools, and governmental agencies. This funding aims to enhance health outcomes and foster collaboration among community partners, contributing to a healthier Arkansas.

CommonSpirit Health offers the Community Health Improvement Grant to enhance health equity and service systems for underserved populations. Through collaborative efforts with 501(c)(3) organizations, this initiative provides financial support for essential health projects. Grant amounts range from $19,500 for small grants to $150,000 for standard grants, varying by hospital. Participating hospitals include those under Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health, aimed at addressing significant community health needs.

The Windgate Charitable Trust Grant focuses on enhancing educational opportunities, health access, and community support in Arkansas. It aims to improve education through need-based scholarships and teacher preparation programs, enhance health with nursing programs and healthcare access, and strengthen community initiatives addressing food and housing insecurities. This grant is available to organizations with a history of funding from Windgate, as unsolicited inquiries are no longer accepted.

The Patterson Foundation offers Assistance Dog Program Grants to support organizations providing service animals to veterans and individuals with disabilities. Funding is available for projects that expand capacity, personnel costs related to puppy training, and program support aimed at improving client experiences. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) non-profits and can request grants up to $35,000 for capital projects or $10,000 for program support. Applications are accepted through a two-step process.

The Arkansas Access to Justice Foundation offers grants aimed at improving civil legal aid for low-income individuals in Arkansas. With $100,000 in total funding available, organizations can apply for up to $50,000 to provide direct legal services, develop self-help resources, or promote alternative dispute resolution. Artistic Innovations Grants for Individual Artists

Program Objectives

The Artistic Innovations program supports the development of new or original works of art across all disciplines, created exclusively by in-region individual artists and art-based organizations in M-AAA’s six-state region (Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, and the Native Nations in this geography). Eligible applicants include individual artists and nonprofit 501(c)(3) arts organizations in the region.

Individual Artist Grant Considerations

The Artistic Innovations grant program supports direct project expenses incurred in the art-making process and production of public-facing engagements to individuals through private funds. These grants are funded through private support and, unlike Artistic Innovations grants to organizations, are not supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.

The EDA Austin FY 2016–FY 2019 Planning Program and Local Technical Assistance Program aims to bolster regional economic development by providing grants that assist eligible organizations in creating and implementing Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies (CEDS). This initiative seeks to enhance the economic prosperity and resiliency of distressed areas, ultimately fostering job creation for the unemployed and underemployed. It emphasizes partnership planning and supports organizations, including Indian Tribes, in driving effective economic development.

Regions Matching Gifts for Full-Time Associates

Regions supports organizations important to our associates through the Regions Matching Gifts Program. This program, which is open for use for all full-time Regions associates, affiliate associates and recent retirees, allows you to make an even greater difference to your favorite charities by doubling your tax-deductible contributions to these organizations. 

The Community Ties Giving Program by Union Pacific Foundation offers local grants aimed at enhancing community well-being through diverse funding priorities. These include safety initiatives, workforce development, community vitality, and environmental sustainability. The program emphasizes supporting organizations that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, aiming to create impactful projects that resonate with Union Pacific's heritage and mission. The Vulcan Materials Company Foundation Grant focuses on enhancing community quality of life through education, environmental stewardship, and employee involvement. Established in 1988, the Foundation supports public charities and government units, prioritizing proposals that improve public education and promote sustainable practices. Special consideration is given to initiatives that engage Vulcan employees and integrate multiple focus areas, ensuring a positive impact in the local communities where Vulcan operates.

The Patterson Foundation offers Oral Health Grants to support programs that enhance access to dental care for underserved communities. Eligible 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations can apply for funding up to $35,000 for capacity expansion, $10,000 for personnel support, or $10,000 for program support. The foundation prioritizes projects led by volunteer dental professionals and requires follow-up reports for continued funding. Applications are accepted year-round through a two-step process.

The Dunkin' Joyful Spaces Grant supports children's hospitals and community health centers in creating joyful environments for pediatric patients. Launched in 2022, this initiative helps fund play areas, healing gardens, and other kid-friendly spaces, enhancing the hospital experience. Grants typically range from $25,000 to $65,000 annually, with a maximum of $150,000 over three years. This opportunity encourages creativity in designing spaces that provide comfort and joy to children and their families during hospital stays.

The Dunkin’ Prom Grant, provided by the Joy in Childhood Foundation, aims to bring joy to teenage patients unable to attend their own prom due to illness. By funding hospitals to host prom-like events, the program ensures these patients experience this significant milestone. Grants typically range from $20,000 to $50,000, supporting the creation of memorable events with themes, food, entertainment, and formal wear for the teens, making a positive impact in their lives.

Children’s hospitals, general hospitals with pediatric departments, and nonprofits in Arkansas serving children battling illness can receive US $25,000 - US $65,000 annually for gaming-based pediatric programs. Joy in Childhood Foundation provides support for equipment, connectivity, staffing, and virtual programming to help hospitalized kids, especially teens, cope and stay engaged during treatment.

Retirees of Regions and its affiliated companies are eligible for the Matching Gift Program for up to 5 years after retirement (the gift date must be within the first 5 years of retirement). Regions will match donations of $25 or more, up to a total of $1,000 per year per retiree.

The MFA Oil Foundation Grant offers cash support to nonprofit organizations focused on enhancing communities where MFA Oil operates. With a mission to bolster rural areas, the foundation prioritizes initiatives that develop youth leadership, agricultural education, and community problem-solving. Eligible applicants include tax-exempt nonprofits and accredited educational institutions. However, grants are not available for operating expenses, political lobbying, or individual support. This initiative seeks to empower organizations that create sustainable change in their communities.
