Aging to Thrive: Empowering Aging Through Community '26-27

This grant opportunity supports programs that uplift and enhance the independence and quality of life for seniors in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. Examples include social programs, food and nutrition programs, health related activities and needs, transportation and access support. 

Grants of $2,000-5,000 available.

Grants are supported by the Senior Citizens Foundation Fund and the Andrew and Bertha Pon Memorial Fund. Recipients will be notified in November 2026.

The Jewish Community Foundation of the West offers a grant titled 'Transportation Support for the Jewish Elderly,' aimed at facilitating transportation needs for Jewish 501(c)(3) organizations in the Greater Sacramento area. Established in 2000, the Foundation manages over 300 funds, providing scholarships and grants to support both Jewish and broader community initiatives. This fund specifically addresses the challenges faced by the elderly in accessing essential services, ensuring that transportation barriers are minimized.

West Oakland Community Fund

This funding opportunity was initially born out of advocacy by West Oakland residents to draw value from the redevelopment of the old Oakland Army Base. Resident members of the West Oakland Community Advisory Group (WOCAG) shepherded the vision of the West Oakland Community Fund from its inception in 2002 to its eventual creation. This led to an agreement between the City of Oakland and the Port of Oakland to provide resources for economic development projects in West Oakland. The Rose Foundation for Communities and the Environment is now administering this funding opportunity to support organizations creating community benefit opportunities in West Oakland, the neighborhood directly affected by the closure of the former Oakland Army Base. WOCAG, the City and the Port directed that the funds shall be spent on the following project categories:

• Workforce Development (2026 grant cycle)
• Business Development (2026 grant cycle)
• Educational Programs (future grant cycle)
• Environmental Programs (future grant cycle)

During this 2026 round we are focusing on Business and Workforce Development though grant projects that include elements from the Education and Environmental categories will be given consideration. (Future rounds may have different subject matter emphases.)

The FY23 Bellows Falls Intermodal Center Rehabilitation grant aims to restore the passenger station to a state of good repair, enhancing its appeal and functionality as an intermodal transportation hub. The Hutton Parker Foundation's Core/General Operating Support program is designed to enhance the capacity and sustainability of nonprofit organizations in Santa Barbara County. This unrestricted funding allows eligible 501(c)(3) organizations to support essential programs and administrative needs. Grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 aim to empower organizations to effectively serve their communities, particularly those impacting underserved populations. The SMUD's Shine Award Program aims to foster inclusive community partnerships by providing equitable support to enhance neighborhoods. It focuses on social well-being, healthy environments, and economic prosperity while prioritizing funding for projects that promote clean energy solutions, energy efficiency, and community education. Eligible applicants are nonprofit organizations within SMUD’s service territory. The program offers various awards to support impactful initiatives that can be quickly implemented or require longer-term investments.

Tyson Foods invites sponsorship proposals that reflect its core values and contribute to community welfare, particularly in Springdale, Arkansas, and Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. Proposals should demonstrate clear community benefits, visibility of the event, and outline how funds will be utilized effectively. Organizations are encouraged to apply if they align with Tyson's mission of integrity and stewardship, ensuring that funding can support primary objectives while considering tax-deductible options.

The GM Corporate Giving Grants support U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations focused on STEM education and transportation initiatives. Applications are accepted from January to September, with a requirement to submit requests at least three months before the program’s start date. GM emphasizes charitable contributions in the communities where it operates, ensuring that organizations align with its values. The grant amount is not limited and is assessed based on the proposed program's merit and needs.

The Coachella Valley - Proposition 68 Grant Program, administered by the California Coachella Valley Mountains Conservancy, provides funding to public agencies, nonprofits, and tribes for projects that enhance watershed health, land conservation, and community resilience. State Farm's Good Neighbor Citizenship Company Grants aim to enhance community safety, development, and education. Focused on long-term impact, they support initiatives in auto and home safety, disaster preparedness, affordable housing, and educational programs. Eligible recipients include nonprofits, educational institutions, and government entities. However, funding is not available for individuals, religious programs, or organizations outside the U.S. By addressing critical community needs, these grants foster safer and more resilient neighborhoods.
